Celebrating Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month with a Renewed Republican Vision
Joe Biden and Democrats are leaving behind Hispanic and Latino voters because of failed regressive policies

This month marks the beginning of Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month, a time when we take time to celebrate and reflect on the rich tapestry, culture, and honor the remarkable contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans throughout our nation’s history.
As the first woman, wife, mother, millennial, and Latina Chair of the California Republican Party, my parents taught me from a young age that nothing was out of my reach through hard work, perseverance, and determination. I am incredibly proud of my Latino roots and growing up in the vibrant Southern California communities of Montebello and Hacienda Heights, California — It’s what made me who I am today.
Since I could remember, the Republican Party has been a steadfast advocate for freedom and opportunity. Its members have played a pivotal role in recognizing and championing these values within the Latino community by promoting school choice, entrepreneurship, religious freedom, and breaking down barriers. Republicans have demonstrated their commitment to Hispanic and Latino Americans’ success.
In recent years, there has been a notable realignment of Hispanic and Latino voters towards the Republican Party. In the 2020 elections, Republicans netted 15 seats in the House of Representatives, with five of those seats being won by Hispanic Republicans.
In 2022, we had the best midterm performance ever with Hispanics, and in Florida, Republicans won a majority of the Hispanic vote. We saw our most diverse slate of candidates elected, including Monica De La Cruz, Juan Ciscomani, Anna Paulina Luna, Tony Gonzales, and Lori Chavez-DeRemer.
In my home state of California, we picked up 5 House seats in the last two cycles, winning over Democrat strongholds and electing now Congressional Hispanic Conference members: John Duarte, David Valadao, and Mike Garcia. It was because of these crucial wins throughout the country that we were able to retire Nancy Pelosi and elect a Republican from California as Speaker of the House, my friend, Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
It should come as no surprise that the Republican Party has made gains throughout the years with Hispanic and Latino voters, though these wins didn’t happen overnight. They took thoughtfulness, time, and trust.
I’m thankful for the leadership of Republican National Committee Chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, who championed investments in Hispanic communities. These community centers worked to deliver historic wins for our diverse candidates, and over the last 4 years, the RNC has opened 20 Hispanic community centers across the country, including 3 centers throughout California. Our center in Doral helped us increase gains where Florida Senator Rubio won by an impressive 22 points—a 21-point improvement over 2020.
We are showing up in communities we may not have shown up in before, and showing voters that, Hispanic and Latino values are Republican values.
I am proud to share that in continuing our engagement and in honor of Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month, the RNC is launching “Deposita Tu Voto,” our effort to engage and educate Spanish-speaking voters on the RNC’s “Bank Your Vote” initiative.
“Bank Your Vote” is a program that will encourage more Republicans to vote before Election Day, whether it is by mail-in ballots, early in-person voting, or ballot harvesting where legal. 2024 will be a crucial election year, and we must bank our votes to defeat Democrats up and down the ticket.
The RNC is aware of how vital election integrity is and that is why they have run the largest-ever election integrity operation to Protect Your Vote. This consists of over 80,000 Republicans serving as poll watchers and workers nationwide. Our efforts to Protect Your Vote will be supercharged in 2024 with an even larger team of grassroots leaders and more key lawsuits.
Joe Biden and Democrats are leaving behind Hispanic and Latino voters because of their failed regressive policies from record inflation, rampant crime, failing education, sky-high energy costs, and a rising homeless crisis. Our country is in peril and Republicans have solutions. Our message as a Party resonates with the Hispanic and Latino communities; we will fight every day to be their voice and get our country back on track.
