Charging ‘Racism,’ California Media Treating Larry Elder as if He’s a White Republican Candidate

‘The brother from South Central,’ could be California’s first black Republican governor

A funny thing happened on the way to the recall election of Gov. Gavin Newsom in California – the media started characterizing gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder in their worn out, typical “white-guy Republican” rhetoric. Except Elder, who was born and raised in Compton, CA, in southern Los Angeles County, and calls himself “the brother from South Central,” could be California’s first black governor. And maybe even more significantly, California’s first black Republican governor.

The media is giving him the “racist white-Republican” treatment despite that Elder, for nearly 30 years on his radio show, has spoken daily of self-empowerment and individualism, and rejected the victim narrative of black America.

This treatment by the media is usually reserved for middle-aged white Republicans, which means that Elder is a real threat to Democrat politics in California.

The California media has called Elder “racist.” They have called him “sexist” and “misogynistic.” He’s been accused of “lacking any moral authority.”

He’s been compared to David Duke by a long time journalist and LA Times opinion columnist.

How ironic given that Larry Elder wrote and produced the movie “Uncle Tom,” which “examines self-empowerment, individualism and rejecting the victim narrative. Uncle Tom shows us a different perspective of American History from this often ignored and ridiculed group” of Conservative black Americans.

“An Uncle Tom is someone who has sold out by embracing the white man by becoming a Republican, by rejecting the idea that you are a victim,” Elder explains. “by supporting things like hard work, accountability, and low taxes. By refusing to think of yourself as a black person first, as opposed to an American who is black.”

Look at these recent headlines:

LA Times calls Elder ‘the Black face of white supremacy’

Sac Bee demands ‘sexist’ Larry drop out

Larry Elder Shuts Down LA Times Columnist Who Compared Him to David Duke

“White grievance politics were once the purview of neo-Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan, as when David Duke claimed ‘the white man’ was the real ‘second class citizen in America today,'” LA Times columnist Jeanne Guerro said. “Now, thanks in no small part to Elder and his protégés, the delusion of rampant reverse racism is mainstream in Republican politics and Fox News.”

Who are Larry Elder’s protégés?

“Conservative talk radio host Larry Elder, who is a Republican candidate for governor in the upcoming California recall, shut down a question from a Los Angeles Times columnist who recently compared him to white supremacist David Duke,” Breitbart’s Joel Pollak wrote in a column this week.

“Being governor isn’t just a gig on a provocative radio show; it’s a sacred trust, and citizens live or die based on the actions of the state’s chief executive,” the SacBee editorial board preached. “The pandemic has made that clear. The job requires personal dignity, respectability and humanity. Elder falls far too short to meet these standards for California’s highest elected office.”

Did the Bee editorial board ever say to Gov. Gavin Newsom – the guy facing the recall election – “The job requires personal dignity, respectability and humanity?”

The Bee editors even criticized Elder for his support of the Epoch Times: “There are so many aspects of Elder’s candidacy that should trouble voters: his position on the minimum wage, his embrace of and employment by Falun Gong’s The Epoch Times propaganda network and his tendency to duck debates and interviews, just to name a few.”

That’s a remarkably weak critique, other than to expose their own biases.

LA Times columnist Guerro went even further: “He has repeatedly twisted crime statistics to portray Black people as more violent than whites — a theme for white supremacists. He blames Black communities’ struggles on an alleged lack of self-determination. (A David Duke talking point).”

Elder speaks frequently about the troubles in black communities in the context that the people living in those communities do not have to be life long victims of society. He frequently shares FBI crime statistics, and interviews criminologists and law enforcement officers. He discusses how children of in-tact black families, with a mother and father in the household, are less likely to commit crime or get involved in gangs. Is that also a “David Duke talking point?”

Politico did a recent hit piece on Elder claiming that his former girlfriend Alexandra Datig told them that in 2015 Elder waved a pistol around during an argument while high on pot. Politico said Datic told them she ended their engagement saying that she feared for her safety. Elder denies the allegations.

True or false, when allegations such as these come up during a political campaign, the taint of political machinations is ever present.

The Bee editors wrote that Elder “implied on Twitter that Women’s March protesters, who took to the streets worldwide to disavow Donald Trump’s presidency, were too unattractive to be sexually assaulted, according to the Los Angeles Times.” Elder called them “obese” on his radio show, they said.

Most who watched the 2017 Women’s March at the U.S. Capitol, with overwrought, enraged female marchers wearing the pink female genitalia hats, would agree with Elder. But it also shows that the Bee editors are lacking the all-important humor gene. Humor on the left usually involves public cruelty, humiliation and degradation.

Predictably, Republican recall candidates jumped on the bandwagon condemning Elder because too many Republicans fight against each other harder than they fight against Democrats. The AP reported: Faulconer hits GOP rival Elder as California recall heats up

Republican candidate Caitlyn Jenner took to Twitter:

Elder has for many years, blown apart the myth of the “racist” criminal justice system, which many claim target young black men. He has addressed and debunked the claim that blacks are arrested at higher rates compared to whites, because of racism.

His record is nearly 30 years of on-air radio shows.

Back in 2012, Elder took this claim on while Barack Obama was President. His reply remains the same today only adding updated FBI data and numbers:

“Not true. While only 13 percent of the population, blacks accounted for 28 percent of nationwide arrests in 2010 and 38.1 percent of arrests for violent crime (murders, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault). But are they unfairly arrested? Studies find that arrest rates by race are comparable to the race of suspect identification by victims.

For example, in a given city, x number of robbery victims describe their assailants as black — whether or not the suspect has been apprehended. It turns out that the race of those arrested matches the percentage given by victims. This has been found repeatedly across the country, in all categories of crime where the race of an assailant is identified. So unless the victims are deliberately misidentifying their assailants — unconcerned about whether the suspect is apprehended and knowingly give a false race — blacks are not being “over-arrested.”

“There may be votes in teaching people to think like victicrats,” Elder says. “But the problem of the high rates of black imprisonment will not be solved by falsely screaming racism.”

Elder debunks the Myth of ‘Systemic Racism’ in this Prager U video short with then-liberal Dave Rubin, from 2015. Rubin was converted from liberalism forever after this legendary debate with Elder.

Nichole Hannah Jones of the New York Times 1619 project, attempted to explain/justify white liberals calling black Conservatives “racist:'”

“There is a difference between being politically black and being racially black. I am not defending anyone but we all know this and should stop pretending that we don’t,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

Defending her removal of the Tweet, she said the point she tried to make, “is being born black does not necessitate being politically black. And it’s strange that people are appearing to argue there’s no such thing as black politics when there are entire courses on it,” she said.

The media in California may be as out of touch with Larry Elder’s gubernatorial candidacy as then-Presidential candidate Joe Biden when he told Charlamagne Tha God on “The Breakfast Club” radio show, “Well I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”

    1. She sounded like an unhinged lunatic and was extremely defensive during the call…
John and Ken basically DESTROYED her on the next day’s show, so…
      NICE TRY…

  1. We will find out real soon if the voters in California are still buying into the lefts false narrative.
That is of course IF Nancy’s “apparatus” is foiled and we get a fair and honest election!
    Godspeed Larry.

  2. It’s pretty amusing when the only thing Newsom, the Dems and the public employees unions (who own the aforementioned lock stock and barrel) can do is call a black man racist. What they’re incapable of doing is explaining California’s rampant crime, rampant drug addiction, destruction of the middle class, deteriorating roads, thousands of small businesses ground into the dirt, children denied an entire year of education, highest poverty in the nation and abandonment of criminal laws designed to protect citizens. What do they have left but play a bizarre race card against a black man raised in South Central LA. It’s beyond pathetic.

  3. The LA Times and the rest of the racist Democrat propaganda media is trying to smear Larry Elder by resorting to the “white supremacy” nonsense? They must know that Newsom is going down and they’re desperate?

  4. This is the dumbest bullshit I’ve ever read. It’s hilarious and totally ignores everything about race and privilege in America. This garbage article is basically saying kneel to the white man and you will get far in life. The idiot who wrote this should be ashamed

    1. You realize she’s actually defending Larry Elder and pointing out the hypocrisy in the media and the Democratic leadership, right? Democrats have an will always be the true racists. They just learned how to flip their tactics.

  5. Thanks for publishing this article…

We were torn between Elder and Kiley, but seeing these liberal rags melt down over Elder tells me this is who we need to vote for…

      1. CriticalDfence9, “One draws the most flak when one is over the target…”. Thanks, that’s a perfect analogy!

  6. I have known Larry for 26 years. He is a good guy who would challenge those regressive progressives, and CA desperately needs that. Don’t be distracted by the crap they are throwing at him.

  7. You had me until you sourced Prager U lmao the racist and several times debunked channel that only seeks to tell half truths and absolve everything from slavery to the British empires atrocities lmao. Basically all browns are evil and Europeans never did anything wrong the channel. Can’t forget the time they justified atrocities against the natives with “some of them were cannibals”. He may try to redefine the definition of an uncle Tom, but it does’t and has never meant a black conservative. Although often times uncle Tom’s do seem to be conservatives. An uncle Tom is someone who will go out of their way to appease white people. Despite them claiming to stand for black people they do more absolving of white people and demonizing black people than actually helping them. One of their favored tactics is black erasure, which the white supremacists who vote for them love, because it’s the very same tactic they love. Uncle Tom is clearly defined, clearly understood and he will not change it’s meaning
