Cal State University Channel Islands professor Jonathan Anthony Caravello has been indicted by a federal grand jury for throwing a tear gas canister at federal agents conducting a raid at a Glass House Farms marijuana facility in Camarillo, CA. He has been indicted for a violation of 18 USC111, “assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees.”

During the raid, Professor Caravello, a philosophy and math lecturer, was detained and arrested. The following day on social media, the California Faculty Association (CFA) claimed Professor Caravallo was “kidnapped” in a reel on Instagram.

“Four masked agents dragged Jonathan away into an unmarked car without identifying themselves, without giving the reason for arrest and without disclosing where they are taking him,” the narrator claims, and then confirms there were multiple faculty members and students protesting the raids.

Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli was quick to correct the union’s kidnapping claim:

Federal agents conducted two separate and simultaneous raids on the marijuana grow facilities in Camarillo and Carpinteria armed with criminal warrants against the company. More than 300 people were arrested and officials said they found at least 14 child workers during the investigation.

“At the California marijuana facilities, ICE and CBP law enforcement rescued at least 14 migrant children from what looks like exploitation, forced child labor, and potentially human trafficking or smuggling while facing assault and even gunfire. Our brave agents also arrested at least 361 illegal aliens—including criminals with convictions for rape, serial burglary, hit and run and DUIs” explained DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “As Secretary Noem stated, this is quickly becoming one of the largest operations since President Trump took office.”

The night before he was arrested, Caravello spoke at a City of Camarillo council meeting and said he has been “patrolling the city streets following armed masked thugs trying to kidnap my [undocumented] neighbors.” Caravello faces up to 20 years in prison.

  1. Federal imprisonment should provide ample opportunity to reconsider prior justification for his own anarchic conduct.

    1. And that was Professor She/Her/He/Him’s official FACULTY photo, if you can believe it!
Cal State Channel Islands used to be Camarillo State Mental Hospital. Wish it still were. A mental hospital, that is, a real one, not just a Cal State pretend college campus filled with nutcase leftist professors and mentally unwell slacker students.

        1. Oh, I know. There doesn’t really seem to BE a difference, does there, Ted?
Only that strait jackets for some are required in one setting, but not in the other. 🙂

          1. And being on the staff of a state university pays better than being on the staff of a state mental hospital.
The clown in the article was pulling down $75 grand a year… as a lecturer???

“We need more money for education.”
            Sigh.

          2. It’s outrageous Ted, I agree.
And look at all the free time the guy has!
Probably has amazing benefits too, to add to that salary.
            sigh

  2. CSU Foundation reports donor support is up but designated for specific purposes.
Reads like contributors (alumni) lost trust in the system to make its own sound decisions.

    1. Yeah, they hate that when donations are specific. They hate it even more when there is monitoring involved to ensure that the letter of the donation is followed. Drives ’em nuts!

  3. Way-Way too much LSD for that Ladd!
Sixty years ago he would have been a perfect recruit for Charlie Manson and his tribe of nut buckets.

  4. IMHO, drooling into his lap, in a mental heath facility does not meet the deterent standard. So, let’s not adulterate what’s left of the state psychiatric system with these severe personality disordered criminals.
Active participants in organized civil unrest deserve an encounter with reality, around every corner for twenty years, in prison.

  5. I don’t think we should any longer aspire to send our children to college where the faculty is certifiable, unkempt and incapable of bestowing even tidbits of common sense on the students,. Keep that screwball locked up and freshen the central coast air even further,

    1. It’s called protestor fatigue. They all seem to have ample time in their lives to waste on chanting for or against the cause of the week and never change a thing. When you ask them, half of them have no idea what they are protesting. Add in the morons that want to block a roadway and you get a fatigue that sets in where you have no more “clucks” to give, as more and more of these road blockers are finding out. Throw them in for life. No one cares.

    2. Excuse me, “Robert,” I mean “Lisa,” the guy threw a tear gas canister at a law enforcement officer, and was rightfully arrested for it. That is not peacefully walking up and down with a placard or whatever as you try to portray it. Besides, if he does 20 years it would be a miracle, that’s what he could get but we both know he won’t, so stop with the drama. As if you care in the first place.

  6. He needs to be tried, found guilty, and sentenced to the maximum. Not only will he get the punishment he deserves, the students will not have this crazy guy as a teacher. Win win, all around.
