DOJ’s Harmeet Dhillon Alleges Threats From ‘Woke Idiots’ Working For Governor Newsom

On Sunday, Governor Gavin Newsom’s Communications Director Izzy Gardon (he/him) posted, “A few weeks ago, one of Trump’s top DOJ officials publicly targeted this judge. Today, the judge’s home is on fire,” in reference to South Carolina circuit court Judge Diane Schafer Goodstein’s home that exploded in flames on Saturday. The top DOJ official Gardon references is Assistant Attorney General, Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice Harmeet Dhillon.

Dhillon responded on X: “Threats against me are referred to the US Marshalls. There have been several tonight. We will tolerate no such threats by woke idiots, including those who work for @GavinNewsom. Govern yourselves accordingly. FAFO.”

In early September, Judge Goodstein put a hold on DOJ’s request to deliver SC voter lists to the federal government, to which Dhillon responded:

The hold was overturned on October 1. Although the cause of the fire is under investigation, Gardon’s post infers a connection between Dhillion’s “targeting” and the blaze, resulting in “several” online threats against Dhillon.

Both Dhillon and Gardon responded to Fox News Digital:

Dhillon told Fox News Digital on Monday that Justice Department staff alerted her to concerning replies beneath a post she said came from a staffer for California Gov. Gavin Newsom that appeared to blame her for the fire at a South Carolina judge’s home.

According to a screenshot, one ominous-sounding post from an X account that no longer exists declared, “I’m just saying Harmeet Dhillon’s address can’t be hard to find.” The screenshot also showed that after the person was asked what they were saying, they replied, “I’ll let you know in two weeks.”

“Ms. Dhillon owes us a full apology for her blatantly false implications,” Gardon said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Our office never threatened her, in contrast to the Trump Administration’s vile rhetoric against sitting judges. In recent weeks, Trump officials have referred to judges as ‘terrorists’ and ‘legal insurrectionists.’ She and her associates own that dangerous, disgraceful, and un-American rhetoric, and she should apologize for that, too,” Gardon added.

Several Democrats, without evidence, have accused Republicans of fanning the flames, with Congressman Daniel Goldman (D-NY) accusing the “extreme right” of arson, which Gardon quickly reposted.

Dangerous, disgraceful, un-American rhetoric has ramped up against Republicans, Trump administration officials, and federal law enforcement since mass deportation efforts began in Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reported a 1,000 percent increase in threats against federal agents.

Update 2:19 PM: Harmeet Dhilllon has responded to Gardon’s request for apology: “Don’t hold your breath, bro—I said nothing requiring an apology. Your staff are the ones putting targets on federal officials.”
