ICE is Living Rent Free in California Democrats’ Heads

Crazy anti-ICE legislation taking precedence over CA constituents’ needs

By Katy Grimes, January 30, 2026 3:55 am

California Democrats passed Sen. Scott Wiener’s “No Kings Act” this week, ostensibly to hold Border Patrol agents legally accountable to “lawless behavior.” Sen. Wiener wants the raving hysterics protesting ICE and Border Patrol to be able to sue federal agents in addition to spitting on them, running them down with cars, blowing whistles in their faces, attacking them with snow shovels and broom handles, and doxxing agents and their families.

Another crazy Democrat ICE bill was introduced this week by Assemblywoman Jessica Caloza (D-Los Angeles): AB 1650 would prohibit a rental company from renting a vehicle to anyone employed by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This is truly from the “you can’t make this s*%! up” file.

Thus far it is a very short bill. The text says: “Existing law generally regulates the business of renting passenger vehicles to the public. The law prohibits a rental company from taking various actions, including requiring the purchase of a damage waiver, optional insurance, or another optional good or service, and using electronic surveillance technology to track a renter in order to impose fines or surcharges relating to the renter’s use of a rental vehicle.”

And another crazy bill introduced this week, AB 1627 by Assemblywoman Anamarie Ávila Farías (D-Contra Costa) would prevent ICE agents from getting jobs in law enforcement. The bill text says: “This bill would disqualify a person from being a peace officer if they were employed by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement between September 1, 2025, and January 20, 2029, or the Alabama Department of Corrections or the Georgia Department of Corrections between January 1, 2020, and January 1, 2026.”

If that proposed legislation isn’t taking up enough space in California Democrats’ heads, Assemblyman Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) introduced AB 1633 to impose a 50% annual corporate tax on each privately owned immigration detention center in the state – a 50% tax on corporate profits generated through detention operations.

Think about that. It is not illegal to privately own detention centers, any more than it is illegal to privately own prisons.

Something tells me that it is unconstitutional to specifically target an industry for excessive taxation because lawmakers don’t like it – along the lines of a punitive “penalty” disguised as tax. If a measure is labeled a tax but functions primarily as a penalty to regulate conduct – like taxing private owners of ICE detention centers – it may exceed taxing power or other limits.

But let’s not put the cart in front of the horse, and instead hear directly from the horse’s mouth:

“For years, ICE has fueled a system that profits from human suffering and family separation, outsourcing detention to private corporations who rake in profits while people endure dangerous, inhumane conditions,” said Assemblymember Haney. “What we’re seeing in Minnesota and across the country shows the real world consequences of ICE’s unchecked power, putting communities and lives at risk for profit with zero accountability. Corporations running these facilities are being paid hundreds of millions to detain people in cruelty right here in California, and it has to end.”

Where is the video of Haney sobbing in front of the cameras?

I can think of several issues in Assemblyman Haney’s San Francisco district that need some serious attention, far more than ICE detention centers.

And in Assemblywoman Jessica Caloza’s Los Angeles district, and in Assemblywoman Anamarie Ávila Farías’s Contra Costa district, and in Sen. Scott Wiener’s San Francisco district.

These California lawmakers were elected by the residents of their districts to address and hopefully solve the problems they encounter within their districts. They were elected to represent the people of their districts – not grandstand as though they were members of Congress, or gaslight them.

These are unserious politicians who don’t understand the scope of their job.

A quick scan of the Worst of the Worst arrested criminal illegal aliens on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website would make most Californians happy to know they were arrested, and being detained before deportation in a secure facility.

What would Assemblyman Haney have ICE do with these Worst of the Worst criminal aliens arrested by ICE? Drop them off at the San Francisco jail until zero bail was granted and they were released again?

Here are a few arrested in California:

  1. “What would Assemblyman Haney have ICE do with these Worst of the Worst criminal aliens arrested by ICE? Drop them off at the San Francisco jail until zero bail was granted and they were released again?”
    No kidding!
These bratty, annoying, silly legislators who think they are coming off “tough” or whatever but who are really coming off pathetic and desperate need to get over themselves. Who is impressed by this nonsense? Who in the general population is saying to themselves, “please put us in more danger, please make sure we are threatened more than we are, please make life more miserable?” Who in these politicians’ districts is saying “good job, thanks for so effectively solving all of our problems”? No one except the most brain-addled TDS victims? Grow up, “lawmakers.” Get a grip. We’re heading into an era where sanity and maturity and common sense are going to matter again. Even in California.

  2. AB1627 is going to face a tough legal battle if the Dems are stupid enough to pass it. Employment by ICE only during the period of Trump’s 2nd term disqualifies one for a job in law enforcement in CA…sounds like blatant discrimination based on association & (inferred) political viewpoint (both protected by 1st Amendment and further codified in Civil Rights legislation) and is retroactive to last year (could be a violation of the ex post facto clause in the Constitution). and this coming from the state that forces businesses to ignore a felon’s record when making hiring decisions unless they can prove that the crime committed is directly related to the nature of the business! try proving in a court of law how working for Trump in any area of law enforcement (Secret service, FBI, homeland security, IRS enforcement division, TSA, military police, etc) can be qualifying but ICE is disqualifying. this bill isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. It would be like saying any person who voted for Hillary in 2016 (but voters for Barack and Joe in 2012 and 2020 are ok) is deemed ineligible to run for any political office in the state of Maine. you wouldn’t last 2 seconds at the Supreme Court!

    1. Excellent comment. And not only that, but I learned elsewhere that ex-ICE officers cannot be hired as TEACHERS and for other public school positions, which is thickly, absurdly RICH when one considers what many teachers and public schools are up to! Whether it is what they neglect to teach or an outright recruitment and encouragement of students to be fed into the transgender grinder, to name the most blatant offense, up to and including Frankenstein-like mutilating surgeries and sterilizing hormones, the stuff of nightmares and no-going-back. Which lands these students in a No-Man’s-Land of neither-fish-nor-fowl permanence and lifetime medical care to “correct” or “treat” what shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Who could have seen these abominations coming? Some of us still can’t believe that it has happened at all, and with the backing of physician groups such as the AMA and the biggest pediatrician (!!!!) medical leadership organization. With all of this mental illness on display amidst people and organizations who should know better, and I would guess they DO know better, these legislators have the NERVE to propose that ex-ICE need not apply for teaching, school staff, and law enforcement positions? This is insanity.
Are we having the longest collective nightmare EVER?

  3. The right is most concerned with punishing the guilty with little to no concern of protecting the innocent especially when the innocent have accents and brown skin.

Case in point. Katy Grimes highlights the worst of the worst in her article, but makes no mention of the abuses (crimes) of ICE against American citizens and there are plenty.

  4. The Abuses of ICE? It’s their job to do something about all the ILLEGAL ALIENS here who have NO Right to be here. Our Borders must be protected and the Immigration laws followed through. Speaking of ABUSE: What about all the ANTIFA, BLM and LEFTIST real HITLER Wannabees who ATTACK ICE and TRUMP SUPPORTERS? Anybody remember CHARLIE KIRK? Leftists absolutely REJOICED over his murder and Promised to do more. They acted like that GOLLUM Creature from Lord of the Rings except they were even WORSE. NURSES threaten to KILL Conservatives, MAGA, etc. So, why do all these ANTIFA BLM and LEFTISTS oppose USA Defense and Immigration enforcement so much? Is it because they truly want what they chant a lot which is NO BORDERS, NO WALLs, NO USA at all? Do you really want to be at the Mercy of the evil GLOBALISTS who want the USA Destroyed and want most USA Citizens DEAD? Are these REAL LEFTIST Brown Shirt Nazis really that stupid or are they just that plain evil?

  5. I’ll try it again, but honestly, it’s way past time to arrest these Treasonous Politicians and I also think the USA is in the beginning of another BOLSHEVIK and MAOIST revolution and CIA COLOR REVOLUTION which the CIA used to Overthrow other nations. The USA is now in the same boat. And another reporter called this the PODESTA PLAN. Either way, buckle up. Things could get very bad AND I definitely think TIM WALZ, JACOB FREY and PENNY FLANAGAN should be facing serious JAIL TIME and the SOMALIS must be deported with ONLY the clothes on their backs. It’s time to get very serious about this.

  6. And this sounds harsh, but Only ENEMIES would want and demand that the USA BORDERS are NOT Defended and its Citizens NOT Protected and leaves us as very vulnerable sitting ducks. And Why else would these people want and demand this other than outright Fools or Greedy Business people who also want an endless supply of Cheap Labor? The demand for Unprotected borders and unenforced immigration laws is extremely dangerous.
