As we approach the new year and look ahead to 2026, the semi quincentennial of our nation’s founding, the opportunity to commemorate 250 years of independence stands before us. President Donald Trump, during his campaign, articulated an ambitious vision for this milestone: a yearlong celebration titled “Salute to America 250,” replete with patriotic festivities and innovative ways to honor the unique tapestry of America’s states and its people.

This vision harkens back to the 1976 Bicentennial celebration—a momentous occasion marked by national unity and pride. From the American Freedom Train to the parade of tall ships, President Gerald Ford’s administration ensured the bicentennial inspired Americans from all walks of life. It is this spirit of collaboration and reverence for our shared history that we should seek to rekindle in 2026.

Organizing a yearlong event of this magnitude is no small task. It requires leadership that understands the complexities of nationwide coordination, possesses a deep appreciation for the historical significance of the occasion, and can inspire collaboration across party lines and diverse communities. Moreover, it requires someone who sees the celebration not merely as a logistical endeavor but as a rare opportunity to reignite national pride and reflect on the enduring principles that define us as Americans.

Having had the unique privilege of witnessing and supporting President Ronald Reagan’s enduring vision for America—and as someone who has spent decades representing industries, nonprofits, and communities that embody the American dream—I am inspired to see this vision realized. Through my work with the fireworks industry, I’ve seen firsthand how communities come together to celebrate our independence, even in challenging times. My experiences as a California Republican leader, strategist, and advocate for nonprofit causes have taught me the importance of unity and shared purpose.

It is in this context that I feel compelled to suggest that the time to act is now. We have one year to lay the groundwork for an unparalleled celebration of American ingenuity, diversity, and resilience. This is not merely about commemorating history—it is about creating a legacy for future generations to cherish.

While there is much to do, I am confident that with the right leadership and a spirit of collaboration, the “Salute to America 250” can become a defining moment in our nation’s history. The task ahead calls for dedicated individuals to work together—public servants, private sector leaders, and engaged citizens alike—to honor the promise of America.

Let us approach this endeavor with the same optimism and determination that have defined our nation for 250 years. Together, we can ensure this celebration reflects the greatness of our past and the boundless potential of our future.

Here’s to a year of planning for a celebration worthy of America.

  1. Whatever is planned via memorials, commemoratives or celebrations, all will be usurped by Newsom and his narcissism; he did it all.

  2. Sounds like a great opportunity for a grassroots program for the Republicans. Republicans and Friends of “insert name of county here” could raise money for firework shows, fixing up county fairgrounds, and any number of other projects. Newsome will probably outlaw fireworks to Trump proof California.
