Tuesday night, a little girl, only 8 years old, was killed in Sacramento on the 2600 Block of 5th Street.
Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg posted this reaction on Twitter:

The Sacramento Police Department reported:
When officers arrived on scene, they located two victims who each sustained at least one gunshot wound. One victim, an adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officers performed emergency medical aid on a second victim, an eight-year-old female, who was transported by fire personnel to a hospital in critical condition. She later tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims after next of kin have been notified.

The monthly Chief’s report found since last month:

Sacramento Police Captain Dan Monk said this about the little girl’s murder:
Lastly, It is with a heavy heart that I let you know we are investigating a double homicide that occurred last night, and one of the victims is a child. Yesterday, at around 10:20PM, we responded to the 2600 block of 5th Street for reports of a shooting. Upon our arrival, our officers located two gunshot victims. Despite emergency medical aid efforts by our officers and fire personnel, both victims succumbed to their injuries. Our patrol officers, crime scene investigators, and detectives are working diligently to determine why this tragic event occurred. I am confident that the individual(s) responsible for these acts will be held accountable. I will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
In response to his Tweet, the Globe asked the Mayor, “Please explain exactly what youth program would have stopped this violent felon from killing a child. Which city funded program?”

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the girl as Isabel Agnes Delgadillo Martin. She would have turned 8 years old on Nov. 22, KCRA.com reported.
Sacramento Councilwoman Katie Valenzuela, who represents the area where the shooting took place, “and a group of community leaders called for more resources for community organizations Tuesday afternoon from City Hall,” KCRA said. Valenzuela called for allocating more money to community groups that are already ‘doing the work,’ saying funding for community organizations has been a struggle, especially compared to resources that go to the police.”
Mayor Steinberg and Councilwoman Valenzuela are on the same page about allocating more funding to nebulous “programs.” Both supported de-funding the Sacramento Police and the Globe has been told by police sources that orders to stand down on certain crimes have come from the Mayor’s office: rioting, looting, homeless issues, etc…
In the last 24 hours, City of Sacramento Police Department reports 2 traffic stops with gun arrests, two shootings (both with gunshot wounds), a robbery, a fatal collision involving three cars.
Here is the October 2021 SacPD Chief’s Report on crime in Sacramento:
Monthly Chief’s Report – October 2021- California’s Gas Supply Restrictions Lead Gavin Newsom to World Stage - October 14, 2024
- The Gaslighting Governor: Gavin Newsom Shamelessly Claims California is an ‘Economic Powerhouse’ - October 12, 2024

Steinberg and Valenzuela’s (and all ‘progressives’ everywhere) response to this increasing horror is GARBAGE and everyone knows it. Even THEY know it. But go ahead and continue this clueless impotent nonsense, adding insult to injury to victims of crime and their heartbroken families and see where it takes you. Because…can you feel it in the air? —- people have had ENOUGH of it, they are beyond FED UP.
But these are the kinds of politicians they keep voting for. I’m sorry, I have no sympathy here.
Waking up to read this is a sad way to start the day. A child and her father (?) were murdered and the answer is more youth community programs as if this child was out looking for trouble. As if this child needed more community involvement to prevent this violent act. As if they are blaming the child or her family??? Less police funding, more community youth programs will certainly solve all the problems Sac is facing, makes perfect nonsense. God Bless this family.
Maybe Sacramento Demcorat Mayor Steinberg could establish some “youth programs” using the millions of dollars that his Steinberg Institute has raked in from taxpayers and private companies like Sutter Health?
