On Wednesday, Senator Scott Wilk (R- Santa Clarita) was unanimously chosen by Senate Republicans as the next Senate Republican leader.
Senator Wilk will take over for current Senate Republican leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield), who had made the announcement on Wednesday she will continue as leader for a few weeks while the two Senators prepare change roles.
“With the start of a new legislative session, I know Senator Wilk will do an outstanding job leading the caucus as we face the many challenges that lie ahead,” said Senator Grove on Wednesday. “It has been an honor to serve as the Senate Republican Leader and fight for Californians who far too often do not have their voices heard in the Capitol. I look forward to continue working with Senator Wilk, the Republican Caucus, and members of the Senate as we restore the California dream.”
Senator Wilk also had remarks on being selected Wednesday.
A growing push for a more moderate Republican Senate leader, losses of seats under Senator Grove’s leadership, as well as recent successes of Wilk’s, including a win in a highly contested district in November, led to Senator Wilk be chosen over Senator Grove
“There had been some grumblings about the GOP wanting someone moderate and more in line to where the party has seen recent success,” explained “Dana”, a Capitol staffer, to the Globe. “Grove is a bit more to the right, saw the party lose Senate seats, and recently got in trouble over some Tweets she made. So this is their way of adjusting post-2020. They are looking to get back more House seats in two years, and may very well have the Governor’s seat. This change is just a part of that. We’ve seen it happen before.”

Good call – good man!!!
“If” Biden stays in office there will be no need for elections. Dominon will pick who the globalist want, it won’t matter.. I don’t understand why people are so calm, China literally stole America HELLO? FIGHT BACK!
Another so called moderate republican- translated as a rino dem. This is why I and so many others will never vote for any repub again.
There are 11 members of my immediate family who AGREE with you. We will not give our vote or money to any GOP Candidate ever again. They are RINOs and that goes for Kevin McCarthy too.
So what is your plan? Lose more seats and join the Independents or Libertarians? We need to vet our GOP candidates better by asking questions and going to townhalls and staying engaged. We have not done that and that is why we end up with RINOS with no backbone..
You must live in Nor Cal or something. Scott Wilk represents the Antelope Valley up in the desert northeast of LA, the same district George and Sharon Runner represented. RINOS don’t make it out of the primary there.
The Democratic Party and when it is not outright lying it is totally corrupt but at least they “hang together”. Republican are morally Bi-Polar with few who have any spine. I have given up on both parties.
