Serial Rapist Deported Multiple Times Faces Reinstated Charges in Nevada

An ilegal alien accused of serial rape of at least 17 victims is facing reinstated charges after withdrawing a plea deal in Clark County, Nevada.

Mexican national, Carlos Nava, 49, has a criminal background spanning nearly 20 years and “has repeatedly re-entered the U.S. illegally despite being deporting at least eight times since 2002,” Fox News reports.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) previously confirmed to 8 News Now this was despite prior removals and arrests for battery and domestic violence. He was last deported in 2020.

On July 30, Nava had entered what is known as an Alford plea to one felony count of sexual assault with use of a deadly weapon, according to court records, per 8 News Now.

This plea allows a defendant to acknowledge prosecutors likely have enough evidence for a conviction without admitting guilt. In Nava’s case, the plea agreement resulted in eight other charges being dropped.

Nava’s decision to then withdraw the plea deal on Sept. 25, and on the day that was supposed to be his sentencing, meant prosecutors reinstated those charges.

Barker also said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police found 17 pairs of underwear “that were folded, kept in a backpack, which also had latex gloves in it and tied up with a rubber band.”

According to a court docket obtained by Fox News Digital, Nava had been facing a string of charges dating back to 2010.

Las Vegas police documents also show officers were looking for additional assault victims in 2022 and after one incident, Nava was spotted in a white ford truck.

Nava remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center. A new trial date is expected to be scheduled after his next court appearance on Oct. 9.

Governor Joe Lombardo responded to the news, reaffirming Nevada’s continued cooperation with federal immigration authorities, stating, “Under my watch, Nevada will never be a safe haven for dangerous illegal criminals who defy our laws and endanger our communities.”

Last week, the Globe reported that the U.S. Department of Justice and Nevada signed a Memorandum of Understanding which removed Nevada’s “sanctuary state” designation assigned by the DOJ earlier this year.

Per the agreement, Nevada will comply with federal immigration law, continue to use the Nevada National Guard to administratively assist with immigration enforcement, and use FEMA funds to assist in immigration operations.

The agreement highlights Lombardo’s legislation to combat fentanyl trafficking that failed to pass in the Democrat-controlled state legislature; and, Lombardo’s veto of Assembly Bill 217, introduced by Democrat Assemblywoman Cecelia Gonzalez that, according to Lombardo, “would effectively make school grounds permanent sanctuary zones.”

In response to the Governor Lombardo’s post regarding serial rapist Carlos Napa, Gonzalez responded that Lombardo was using immigrants as scapegoats and accused the governor of “cheap political fear mongering.”

Last week’s agreement and Governor Lombardo’s statement today, also wades into a heated gubernatorial campaign between Governor Lombardo and his likely challenger Attorney General Aaron Ford (D). As illegal immigration takes center stage nationally, it will also take center stage locally as Nevada has the second largest share of undocumented residents behind only Florida.

In 2017 as a state legislator, Ford co-sponsored Senate Bill 223 which would have “restricted law enforcement from performing certain actions relating to immigration enforcement.” In a statement posted on X, Ford contends he “has never supported sanctuary for criminals.”

Last November, AG Ford announced his office “will be a bulwark” against any effort by the Trump administration “to impose unconstitutional mandates, override our system of checks and balances, or intrude upon the rights of any Nevada resident.” His office released two “Know Your Rights” documents to inform legal and illegal immigrants and their employers of their legal rights and joined Know Your Rights seminars held by the ACLU and left-of-center nonprofits.

In his 2024 warning to the incoming Trump administration, Ford emphasized: “There is no one way to be a Nevadan. The residents of our great state -whether they’ve been here for 3 weeks or are third- generation Nevadans.”

In February 2025, Ford release Model Immigration Policies that “did not align with the Governor’s directions because they indicated state and local law enforcement should not support federal immigration activities.”

Just two days after the Nevada Attorney General released those Model Immigration Policies, the Governor released the following statement:“Let me be clear: The Attorney General does not have the authority to make Nevada a sanctuary state or jurisdiction. As long as I am Governor, Nevada will continue to follow federal law.”

“Despite the Attorney General’s attempts to implement sanctuary policies, Nevada is not a sanctuary state, has never been a sanctuary state, and will never be a sanctuary state under my leadership,” said Governor  Lombardo. “The State’s agreement with the Department of Justice today reaffirms our commitment to following federal immigration law in Nevada.”

This story has been edited to include Assemblywoman Gonzalez’s response to Governor Lombardo.

  1. Nevadans should be thankful that they have Gov. Joe Lombardo who has reaffirmed Nevada’s continued cooperation with federal immigration authorities unlike Gov. Hair-gel Hitler Newsom in California and the criminal Democrat thug mafia in the legislature who care more about their illegal alien voter base than they do legal Californians.
