Teen Opinion: It Sounds Crazy to Even Question Whether a Parent Should Have Rights

We should not re-elect politicians who not only don’t protect our children, they support grooming them

As a young conservative, I am a proponent of parental rights. It sounds a bit crazy to even question whether a parent should have rights. In my experience it’s been understood that you respect your parents, you listen to them and know they have your best interests at heart.

However, in more recent years many parents have had to fight for their rights and still do.There is a law in California called the Child Transition Secrecy Law. Assembly Bill 1955 of the SAVE Act and in my opinion it’s the opposite of safety. Democrat Assemblyman Chris Ward of San Diego authored that bill and of course Gavin Newsom signed it into law. This means that kids can freely use pronouns, names, use different restroom facilities and teachers and staff made aware of this are prohibited from notifying the parents.

Imagine sending your child to school and finding out they are not only doing this but are being influenced and brainwashed to do so by corrupted news media, social media, teachers and books. This is all in the same school system you trusted to educate your child, not convince them to change their gender.

I am 19 years old and I certainly understand how any child, pre teen or teenager could be confused about a lot of things, especially with adults you are supposed to trust pushing their woke agenda. I believe so many kids of all ages, even many adults are brainwashed into believing if they just change their gender all their problems will disappear. Preventing parents from knowing about this mental and physical well being of their children is preventing parents from helping and protecting them.

There have been so many transgender suicides and school shootings, too many and when will it end? This is what happens when a developing brain or any brain is affected by taking hormones for the purpose of transitioning. The idea of purposely preventing parents from their legal rights, from knowing what their child is going through is almost unreal to me and yet this is how California is run or should I say ruined.

I have seen 2 of my friends speak out against AB 1955 and fight for parents rights to protect their children, with amazing Attorney Erin Friday and the equally amazing Beth Bourne. Mrs. Friday has written legislation to protect parents rights who do not affirm their child’s transition and against men in women’s sports, bathrooms and changing rooms. Beth, who was a high school athlete as well, does the same and speaks out about gender altering surgery.

There have actually been many cases where Child Protective Services has removed a child from their home if the parents don’t allow them to transition. How is this allowed to happen? If a child of any age is confused or conflicted the parents should be notified immediately so they can get their child the help they need, comfort them and offer solutions to their confusion other than trying to change their gender.

In comes help from former Huntington Beach City Attorney and now Republican candidate for California Attorney General, Mr. Michael Gates. He filed the case of Huntington Beach against Gavin Newsom in the 9th circuit court to block the child transitioning secrecy act to protect parental rights. Thankfully a temporary injunction was granted. As quoted in the California Globe on September 18, 2024, “It was unconstitutional in the first place,” said City Attorney Michael Gates.

“It sends a signal to our community in Huntington Beach of 200,000 residents that we are a ‘Parents’ Right to Know’ city, and that educators should not interfere in the parent-child relationship.” I have a lot of respect for Mr. Gates for standing up for parental rights and saying the quiet part out loud.

Gavin Newsom and Rob Bonta call California a sanctuary state, but this state is no sanctuary – it’s a lawless state where parents have no rights over their children’s mental, emotional and physical rights. Did anyone ever think something like parent’s rights would even be in question? It should be understood that parents rights are a given and to actually take that away should never have been allowed. This isn’t providing safety for children – this is brainwashing them and controlling them. That is what parents are trying to prevent. You would think politicians in every state would want to protect children, but many politicians in California are doing just the opposite.

Rob Bonta, who is running for California Attorney General against Mr. Gates, and Bonta’s wife, Mia Bonta supported AB 1955. Mia Bonta abstained on committee votes for Senate Bill 14 which would classify human trafficking of a minor a serious felony. Her actions made the bill stall but thankfully it did pass. Who wouldn’t vote in favor of making the sex trafficking of minors a serious felony? Apparently Mia Bonta. Rob and Mia Bonta also authored the Stop Nick Shirley Act making it illegal to expose California fraud. How are politicians like this elected to office?

What are Rob and Mia Bonta afraid of, why would anyone want to prevent fraud from being exposed unless they are complicit in it themselves? Think about that, the answers are so obvious.

I am so grateful we have someone like Mr. Michael Gates running for California Attorney General. He protects parents and children, he realizes parent’s rights should never be in question and he is fierce about ending sex trafficking and keeping our families safe. We should not re-elect politicians who not only don’t protect our children, they support grooming them.

Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different outcome. When you re-elect politicians who take away parents rights, who refuse to protect kids from sex trafficking and who allow them to be groomed, tell them they can change their gender and do so for their own purposes that is doing the same thing over again, that is expecting a different outcome from the same kind of politicians, and that is insanity.

Let’s take a look at the Governor’s race as well. I am also very grateful that Mr. Steve Hilton is running against Xavier Becerra. Becerra worked in the Biden Administration as the 25th United States Secretary of Health and Human Services. Becerra failed at his job and is responsible for actually losing track of more than 85,000 children. We all know the children who are alive are suffering, most likely sex trafficked never to be seen again. That is who wants to be California’s next Governor. During a Newsmax interview Steve Hilton said,  “The teachers and the public schools are obsessed with this far-left ideological indoctrination.”

We can’t let Bonta and Becerra ruin our state any more than it already has been. Please fight for our state, fight for parents rights and fight for your children and all children, be their voice. We are lucky to have two of the most honest and honorable people I know running for two very important positions. We have Mr. Michael Gates running for Attorney General and Mr. Steve Hilton running for Governor, they are the only chance to turn this state around, to protect parents rights, to protect children, to stop crime and to turn California back to the Golden State it used to be and can be again.

We shouldn’t have to fight for parents rights, to keep children safe, to fight against fraud and crime, that should just be expected. I hope to be a mom one day and I know Mr. Michael Gates and Mr. Steve Hilton are the ones who will protect my rights, your rights, keep our families safe and make California affordable again. I urge you to say no to the insanity and vote for Mr.

Michael Gates for Attorney General and Mr. Steve Hilton for Governor. Make California Golden Again.

  1. This is a well written article.

I do not understand people who vote for candidates that literally are taking away their parental rights. Are people so brainwashed or ignorant that they will vote for a party candidate no matter what actions the candidate takes? It appears so.
