Gov. Newsom Trolls Sen. Leader Mitch McConnell on Gun Control Following Shootings
No one is talking about the 50 shooting deaths in Chicago during August, and it’s only the 5th of the month

“So the El Paso shooter was a white supremacist. The Dayton shooter was a Leftist. The ICE bomber quoted AOC. The Congressional baseball game shooter was a Bernie bro. But according to the media, all the violence is Trump’s fault.”
While the 24/7 cable news channels covered the weekend mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio non-stop, opportunistic calls for gun control echoed throughout the country – media talking heads, Hollywood and politicians alike. Blame was assigned to President Donald Trump and the National Rifle Association, rather than the shooters. No one questioned why this is happening in America, and why the shooters always seek “gun free” zones.
“Democratic presidential candidates sought to lay blame Sunday on President Donald Trump following a pair of mass shootings in Ohio and Texas, saying his language against minorities promotes racial division and violence,” the Associated Press reported.
But ignored once again were the daily shootings and murders in Chicago – “3 Killed, 40 Wounded In Weekend Shootings Across Chicago,” as well as two mass shootings, CBS Chicago reported.
There have been 50 shootings in Chicago so far in August, and it’s only the 5th of the month. In Chicago, no one discusses the “assault style” weapons, calls for gun control, or blames “gun violence.” Chicago residents know who the shooters are and how they get their guns in “gun-free” Chicago.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 1,600 people have been shot in Chicago, 274 have been killed, according to the Chicago Tribune.
I’m not downplaying the weekend’s horrifying mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, or the shooting last week in Gilroy, California. But this has unfortunately become the way of life in Chicago, and it rarely makes the national news… Not the parents looking for their children following a shooting, or the babies killed, or the two mothers working to stop gun violence just gunned down last week on a street corner.
Deadly Chicago violence does not get politicians elected. But the 2020 Presidential candidates sure capitalized on the recent mass shootings, blaming the President, rather than the perpetrators, or society:
“There is complicity in the president’s hatred that undermines the goodness and the decency of Americans regardless of what party,” New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker said. “To say nothing in a time of rising hatred, it’s not enough to say that ‘I’m not a hate monger myself.’ If you are not actively working against hate, calling it out, you are complicit in what is going on.”
Sen. Kamala Harris of California also blamed Trump’s use of language, which she said has “incredible consequence,” AP reported. “We have a president of the United States who has chosen to use his words in a way that have been about selling hate and division among us.” …Kamala Harris who says she would use executive action to take dun dealers’ licenses away.
Even California Gov. Gavin Newsom jumped in on the blame bandwagon, setting his gun control sites on Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell:
“Hey @senatemajldr,” Newsom tweeted. “Tomorrow is Monday. In America, that means it’s another day a mass shooting could occur. It also means it’s another day you still have not scheduled a vote on the common sense gun bills that the House passed. The country is watching.” AND: “You don’t get to pretend like you’re horrified while you actively block legislation that could prevent another tragedy.”
Hey @senatemajldr — tomorrow is Monday. In America, that means it’s another day a mass shooting could occur. It also means it’s another day you still have not scheduled a vote on the common sense gun bills that the House passed.
The country is watching.

However, Newsom was trolled back by many Tweets:
“Respectfully governor, the gun laws you’re championing don’t work in California. It also undermines your credibility that you would refuse to execute these murderers if they were convicted in your state.”

Another Twitter user said: “It’s not guns Sir, it’s individuals using the guns. Have you done anything abt your sanctuary city? How abt Kate? Was that the gun or a man who didn’t belong in US – But he was safe in your state. My suggestion – you clean up CA first. McConnell knows his job. He’ll do it.”

Politico responded with this nasty comment:
POTUS’ RESPONSE: He spent most of Sunday golfing, and only vaguely referred to incidents which have been widely referred to as “white nationalist terrorism.” Trump has promised a 10 a.m. ET press avail, and more comments Monday. But the headlines…
Liz Wheeler with OAN summed up the hyperbole perfectly:
“So the El Paso shooter was a white supremacist. The Dayton shooter was a Leftist. The ICE bomber quoted AOC. The Congressional baseball game shooter was a Bernie bro. But according to the media, all the violence is Trump’s fault. Disgusting dishonesty.”

Wheeler added:
Oh, apparently the Dayton shooter was not only a Leftist, but an Elizabeth Warren fan. So according to the stupid standards of the Left, is @ewarren to blame for his violence? If not, why not?
— Liz Wheeler (@Liz_Wheeler) August 5, 2019
The Dayton shooter also referenced Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and her comments about concentration camps and hatred of ICE. Has she taken responsibility for her rhetoric? The Washington shooter also referenced those same comments.
Few in the media discuss Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and the many Democrats who have personally called for violence against the Trump administration and Trump supporters. And none of these Democrats discuss the daily violence and murders of innocents in Chicago.
This Tweet was just one example of the vile responses to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy questioning if violent video games, depression, fatherless, loner young men, and psychotropic drugs are common denominators in the shooters:
And YOUR President caused this! He amps up the crazies in his Base and this is the result!!!!! The majority of these shooters are conservative, Trump Supporters, #Racists just like the onein ElPaso he killed those people to please Donald Trump pic.twitter.com/gqaEXnFrCT

CNN blamed Texas Senator John Cornyn’s twitter feed, and said it “mirrors” the El Paso shooter’s manifesto:
Incredibly irresponsible – on CNN just now @niaCNN said Senator Cornyn's twitter feed "mirrors" the El Paso shooter's manifesto. The tweet she's referring to is literally the exact headline of a @TexasTribune story. https://t.co/dDJxLGynFF

Michelle Malkin got it right, identifying social media as a big part of the problem for reusing to “ban violence-promoting jihadists, assassination-promoting celebs, and insurrection-promoting Antifa …and they hide behind phony ‘hate speech’ rules to purge peaceful conservatives, pro-lifers & Angel Moms”:
But they won't even ban violence-promoting jihadists, assassination-promoting celebs, and insurrection-promoting Antifa …and they hide behind phony "hate speech" rules to purge peaceful conservatives, pro-lifers & Angel Moms. https://t.co/FaEE74XzJe

Final thought:
“Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart and devours the soul,” said @realDonaldTrump today. Hoping the anti-Trumpers and haters take this to heart, instead of posting more hate-filled Tweets directed at the President, Repubs and patriotic Americans mourning the dead today.
