‘And that my friends is my last billboard! They are too expensive, too dangerous and have run their course in terms of excitement.’
Los Angeles based street artist Sabo, erected a billboard in Hollywood early Thursday morning, pushing back against the entertainment industry and their use of award ceremonies to promote leftist ideologies. “Parasites” is the latest piece by the conservative artist to attack the Democrat party, using the Oscar-nominated film with the same name.
The piece depicts Democrat presidential candidates as characters in the movie that was nominated for six Oscars including best picture, director and foreign film. The billboard coincides with the 92nd Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Sabo’s billboard was placed at the corner of Wilshire and La Brea, in close proximity to the theater.
“Since it’s Oscar week. This is my mocking the Oscar-nominated movie Parasite. I thought the title was a fitting example of the Democrat field running for the office of the presidency,” said Sabo in an interview with the California Globe.
The creators of the movie Parasite described it as a family drama, black comedy, a suspense thriller, with class satire and domestic horror.
The South Korean film follows members of a poor family who scheme to become employed by a wealthy family. The poor family infiltrates an affluent household by posing to be highly educated and qualified for their positions. Parasite has taken Hollywood by storm grossing $33 million so far in the United States. The film, directed by Bong Joon-Ho, also won the Palm d’Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
Sabo is a Marine, who now uses his art to fight back against those he feels are hurting the country he once served. His work is quickly removed but during its short duration, it is captured through the lenses of thousands of people visiting Los Angeles who stop, take photos and share the photos online.
“The actual artwork has a short shelf life but when it goes viral that is when it makes an impact,” said Sabo who hopes his artwork can inspire others to express their views in a creative fashion. His art combats what he feels is the lefts monopoly over the entertainment world.
Sabo said, “I hope some young kid sees what I did and thinks, ‘Hey, he thinks like me. I thought all artists were leftists, maybe I can be an artist too.’”
On the billboard, “Parasites” depicts socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) as the patriarch of the poor family, mocking his logo, “Bernie for President” to read “Breadlines/Gulag.” Millionaire Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) along with former Vice President Joe Biden (D-DE) represent the wealthy family members. Biden is lounging in a chair next to Warren who is smiling holding a glass of red wine.
The children in the “Parasites” billboard are Presidential candidates Pete Buttigieg and Andrew Yang, who appear lost and downtrodden.
Thursday night Sabo announced on his Facebook page, after “Parasites” he is moving his career into a new direction, “And that my friends is my last billboard! They are too expensive, too dangerous and have run their course in terms of excitement.”
Sabo plans to focus his attention on CPAC, a documentary, and a book, “I am moving on to more concept heavy designs, video, motion GIFS, and apparel. I will make Unsavory Agents a successful brand because our side needs more artists. “
All of Sabo’s political artwork can be found on his website.
