Silicon Valley Tech giant Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced Wednesday that it is moving its global headquarters to the Houston, Texas from California.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a gleeful press statement on the big move: “We are excited that Hewlett Packard Enterprise has chosen to call Texas home, and I thank them for expanding their investment in the Lone Star State by relocating their headquarters to the Houston region,” said Governor Abbott. “Hewlett Packard Enterprise joins more than 50 Fortune 500 companies headquartered in the Lone Star State, including 22 in the Houston area alone. That is because Texas offers the best business climate in the nation. Our low taxes, high quality of life, top-notch workforce, and tier one universities create an environment where innovative companies like HPE can flourish. We look forward to a successful partnership with HPE, as together we build a more prosperous future for Texas.”
Gov. Abbott welcomed the tech giant and its 2,600 employees in a video:
HPE is building a 440,000-square-foot campus in two five-story buildings in the Houston suburb of Spring. The campus is set for completion in 2022, the AP reported.
HPE President and Chief Executive Officer Antonio Neri explained the decision to move:
“COVID-19 has also changed how and where we will work. We’ve listened to our team members, who have told us they want more to spend less time at a physical worksite, so we’ve launched an initiative called “Edge to Office” which provides this flexibility while equipping our workforce to continue delivering for our customers and partners.
And in response to this new future of work, we have reevaluated our real estate site strategy to ensure that we are utilizing our workspaces most effectively and positioning our teams and talent in the best interests of our business.”
He added that San Jose will become the new headquarters for the HPE Aruba Intelligent Edge business.

Comrades
Don’t gloat…Commissars are hardened folks….they are now bringing in thousands of fresh replacements from India compliments of Senator Comrade Mike Lee.
In other news Newsom announces that he just found a whole lot of space for homeless housing. 😉
I am fortunate to be able to work from home. I have no desire to ever work within another office setting. I expect more companies will leave California due to the insane politics and wicked cost of living. I have lived in California alll my life, but this state is rotten to the core thanks to abject politicians.
Well said!
