CA Dem Senators Walk Out When Former Ambassador Ric Grenell Honored
The purpose of Monday’s ceremony honoring Ambassador Grenell was to highlight his accomplishments and service to the country

The stark insincerity by legislative Democrats over PRIDE month was exacerbated in the California Legislature Monday. Earlier in June the California Senate held a LGBTQ recognition ceremony with Sister Roma from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence group, recently embroiled in controversy with the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as their decades long mockery of Catholicism.
So while the California State Senate spent part of Monday honoring championship Rugby Athletes from CSU Sacramento, Mandella Senate Fellows, when they got to honoring former Ambassador and former Director of National Intelligence Richard “Ric” Grenell, decorum fell to the wayside.
The harsh contrast with how Democrats celebrated the LGBTQ like-minded community, was made more apparent when Republicans also wanted to honor accomplished gay members of their communities and legislative districts, and were refused by Democrat leaders.
PRIDE Month
As Pride month nears an end, Republican Lawmakers announced they were honoring Ambassador Grenell, the first openly gay Presidential Cabinet Member, for his accomplishments and stellar career in service to the country.
Cheers rang for the recipients in the Senate, and photo ops were taken… until five Senators walked out during Republican Senator Brian Jones’ introduction of Grenell.
However, the walkout didn’t just happen – it followed a nasty Tweet earlier Monday from Democrat Sen. Scott Wiener from San Francisco:

Grenell hit back twice as hard, but with much more dignity:

As the Globe was preparing this article, CalMatters reporter Alexi Koseff noted on Twitter that some LGBTQ Senators walked out, but didn’t say who departed the Senate floor as Grenell was introduced:

So the Globe in the Senate Monday, named the Senators after witnessing the walkout: “Senators Caroline Menjivar (D), Lola Smallwood-Cuevas (D), Henry I. Stern (D), Scott D. Wiener (D), and Pro tem Toni G. Atkins (D) specifically walked off the Senate floor when @RichardGrenell was being honored. Ahhh, the tolerant left rides again.”

The purpose of Monday’s ceremony honoring Ambassador Grenell was to highlight his accomplishments and service to the country, while noting that he is also gay, during PRIDE Month. But it is not his defining character trait, as the drag Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were presented – for their identities, rather than their accomplishments and service.
“In the Republican Party we celebrate individual achievements,” Assemblyman Bill Essayli (R-Corona) said, introducing Ambassador Grenell at the press conference. “His story serves as an inspiration around the world.”
Grenell said in 1993 he marched in Washington D.C. for equality. He carried a sign that said, “We demand diversity and tolerance.” Grenell said “we were demanding the majority of opinion just listen to us.”
“Tolerance” is the foundation to “tolerate,” Grenell said. “That means you don’t get up and walk out when someone is being honored.” He said he has many liberal friends who he dines with and has many conversations with. “You don’t walk out with your fingers in your ears,” he said.
“Today they walked out when I walked in,” Grenell said. “And I wasn’t even speaking.”
“We are everywhere – we are Christians and tolerant,” he added. “50% of gays and lesbians are voting Republican now… it’s common sense. The left has lost the narrative.”
Ambassador Grenell discussed American parents teaching their children to hate America. “Get a passport and travel,” he said. “69 countries criminalize gays and lesbians.”
The media tried to corner Grenell at the press conference following the Senate ceremony, conflating the mockery Senate “ceremony” with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, with Grenell’s asking repeatedly about his position on transgender issues. Grenell made clear that his concerns are about children being coerced into gender transitioning, and that any school, teacher or other adult assisting the child in transition from one sex to the other without parental consent is child abuse. He said anyone over age 18 can do what they want, but children being coerced or forced into gender transitioning need to be protected. “It’s child abuse,” he said, “and a parental rights issue.”
He took a Los Angeles Times reporter to task for doing the bidding of the left, as she doggedly pursued this theme, rather than adhering to a “newspaper’s duty in Sacramento to make other voices heard in the public sphere.”
The media called out Republican Assembly members for being “childish” and claimed they walked out on the LGBTQ+ celebration June 5th with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. As the Globe reported then, “rather than sticking to celebrating the accomplishments of the honorees, Senators offered floor speeches devolving the ceremony into LGBTQ sufferer month. Many Democrat Senators claimed that the LGBTQ community is unsafe, has no freedoms, live in danger, are victims, and are harmed… because of right wing extremists.”
Notably, Republicans did not walk out on the LGBTQ ceremony honoring members of the community – they stayed until Sister Roma was acknowledged, and only because the Sisters mock Catholicism.
There was little interest in hearing about the three Albanian police officers released in Kosovo after Grenell, former United States Ambassador to Germany and the Special Presidential Envoy for Serbia and Kosovo Peace Negotiations, went to North Mitrovica in Kosova unannounced to help de-escalate the situation there. Human Events confirmed.
The Globe asked Grenell about the Kosovo and Serbia events he just negotiated, and as he answered, some media packed up their gear and left. Grenell said the last three years in Kosovo have had seriously increased tensions between the nations. Because of tensions, NATO forces have been in Kosovo, which are currently made up of members of the Indiana National Guard. They will be rotated out next month by members of the Texas National Guard. And this is because American diplomacy is the standard, Grenell said.
He went by himself without security to Kosovo, and said they were grateful for the diplomatic assistance.
Intolerant State Senator @CarolineMenjiv3 ran out of the room today when a gay Republican was honored in the Senate.

This behavior is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Sen Scott Wiener needs to resign immediately and we can only hope there are consequences for the other walk-outs as well. As readers here know all too well Wiener has been nothing but a MENACE to California as a member of the legislature. He has consistently been a lying pusher of extreme perversion and immense harm to the CA citizenry. Let him resign and push this stuff on a volunteer basis on his own time. Are there NO standards in our legislature? Forget about decorum; is every single legislative Dem/Marxist now run by the worst of what the S.F. cesspool has now become? What does it say that Wiener and his ilk publicly cheer on sub-human and often criminal behavior as something to shoot for but cannot tolerate Ambassador Richard Grenell in the same chamber? Looks like a Cross to vampire, doesn’t it?
Wouldn’t have expected less, but was oh so grateful to see Ric Grenell’s line in the sand. Thank you so much for standing up to this disgusting unacceptable display of a bunch of demented third-graders (apologies to third graders) who can’t get enough of flipping the bird to the rest of us, undeterred by their actual teeny-tiny percentage of the U.S. population. It’s tempting to tell them to pack up and go somewhere else if they hate American values and principles and fine Americans such a Ambassador Grenell so much. But I won’t.

I received an email from Ric Grenell requesting donations to the Fix California organization that he founded. He mentioned in the email that he was honored by the California legislature for his work to “make our world more diverse and tolerant.” Really? While I generally like Ric Grenell, what did he do to make the world more “diverse” or “tolerant?” How does making the world more “diverse” make it better? It was cringy to read his email.

Good question, @Cyndi. That is exactly like saying that that anyone who appears to benefit from “affirmative action” policy participates in making the world more “diverse and tolerant”. Actually, it promotes division and intolerance, no?
