Gavin Newsom and Democrats are Changing the Recall Rules in the Middle of the Game

‘That this is unsurprising doesn’t make it any less chilling’

By Katy Grimes, June 13, 2021 1:25 pm

California Assemblyman Kevin Kiley, who just last week announced he may run for governor in the recall effort of Gov. Gavin Newsom, now warns Newsom and the Democrat supermajority in the Legislature are trying to manipulate the recall election to save Newsom.

On his website Kiley gives the details:

We’ve just learned Gavin Newsom and the Legislature will ram through a new law, AB 152, to give him total control over the date of the Recall vote. That this is unsurprising doesn’t make it any less chilling.

Newsom and his enablers are changing the rules for his own Recall in the middle of the game. They cheat in plain sight then wonder why people lack trust in our elections.

So far, they’ve delayed the vote using a corrupt law from 2017. For instance, they added six weeks to bully people to withdraw their signatures. (The number who chose to do so: 42. That’s less than the number who will win the Newsom Vaccine Lottery.)

Newsom thought his best chance was to put the vote off until the state “opens.” Now he’s decided waiting too long presents other risks. So he’s changing the law to set the election exactly when he wants.

Meanwhile, he’s ignoring media inquiries about our letter asking him to justify the State of Emergency. We’re told everything is going back to “normal” except for the amount of power held by the Governor.

If the election is set for mid-September, we have 100 days to save California. Get ready for the campaign of a lifetime.

The letter Kiley refers to, available here, was written by Kiley, Assemblyman James Gallagher and Sen. Melissa Melendez, informing Newsom that ending the emergency is not optional.

They asked Newsom to identify the “conditions of disaster or extreme peril” that are the predicate for the State of Emergency; asked him if he intends to keep the emergency in effect until the case rate is zero?; and asked him to identify the metrics he is using to determine that COVID cases are of a “magnitude” that is “beyond the control” of cities and counties.

No answer from Newsom so far.

The governor and Democrats were seriously embarrassed this week when the Globe broke the news that only 36 (updated to 54) total signers of the recall rescinded their signatures, out of 1,719,943 validated by the Secretary of State.

As the Globe reported, if the Secretary of State was going to invalidate the recall election, Newsom needed 224,234 Californians to change their mind about signing the recall petition – the difference between the 1,495,709 signatures required and the 1,719,943 validated.

Moving the recall election date up is Plan B. In 2017, the Assembly Committee on Elections and Redistricting, passed a law extending the amount of time between the qualification of a recall petition and the actual election, hoping to save State Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton), in the middle of his own recall election. Now, Democrats are abbreviating the process in another attempt to prevent Gov. Newsom from getting recalled.

  1. Once a cheater always a cheater.
This is what happens when we elect unethical people into office.

Meanwhile, there are still many unemployed in this state awaiting their EDD checks!
Meanwhile, there are former business owners wondering how will they support their families.
Meanwhile, there are special education students in need of in person learning.
Meanwhile, farmers are wondering how to water their crops and feed their livestock!

Never forget and whatever the date turns out to be, get out the vote and recall his ass!

    1. @One Fed Up Cali Girl, adding to the list…10 of thousands of violent criminals early released at his direction. Violent crime up over 100% in CA. Newsome is as you say a tyrant who is corrupting CA politics to ensure he and his democrat gang remain in power while further diminishing our liberty and freedoms. If we cannot recall Newsome, CA is truly lost. http://www.recallgavin2020.com

  2. Well, Stacy and Showandtell, it looks like my John Gotti comparison was not so far off after all. And Queeg, the fix IS in! Liz, more and more I am increasingly impressed by Kevin Kiley; a newcomer outsider type, he would be a great candidate imo; whereas Grenell and Jenner seem to be more interested on getting airtime on FoxNews. Mr. Trump would say that Kevin “has the looks” and I would agree with that. We shall see. This is getting more interesting by the minute.

  3. Rigging the election to their favor. First it’s extending the election when the pandemic is over and many are vaccinate then it’s shortening the election so they won’t face the wildfires, drought, and outages and potential Covid variants.Democrats claim they’re being fair but this is evidence that they’re playing by different rules

  4. So if Newsom is losing in poll numbers before the recall election he can change the date of the election at any given moment just like terrorist dictator did in Palestine in their election then blamed it on Israel?

  5. So if the poll numbers are showing that they are not in Newsom’s favor, he can change the recall election date just like what the terrorist dictator did the election in Palestine and blamed it on Israel.

  6. With so many bullets flying in this state why hasn’t one landed in Governor Gruesome? I was ready to take a shot at him when this silliness started but unfortunately I don’t own a firearm and didn’t apply for one because it was “ONLY FOR 15 DAYS TO FLATTEN THE CURVE”. In hindsight I’m kicking my own ass for believing the lying POS!

    Thanks for letting me vent.

  7. Newsom knows he has zero chance of surviving this recall. Parents whose kids have not been inside a classroom for over a year, families enjoying the 100+ summer heat with NO AC, people that had to permanently close down their family business or that lost their jobs, landlords that had to endure non-paying renters squatting in their properties without risk of eviction, households struggling to pay for rising water and gas costs, people experiencing enhanced crime California style (no cash bail & light sentencing) – these are not Newsom supporters. What amazes me most though is how these corrupt cocky politicians don’t even try to hide it anymore.

  8. Go ahead and change the rules!
This will only serve to galvanize the opposition to him AND the legislature.
We’ll beat him in despite of it!
    Fight on…………

  9. Leave it to an egotistical, narcissistic and megalomaniacal party and Governor to pursue any manner of unethical behavior to stay in power.

  10. From the Mayo Clinic webpage regarding Narcissistic Personality Disorder (at https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20366662 )
Signs and symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and the severity of symptoms vary. People with the disorder can:
Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance
Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration
Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
    Exaggerate achievements and talents
Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate
Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people
Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior
Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with their expectations
Take advantage of others to get what they want
Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others
Be envious of others and believe others envy them
Behave in an arrogant or haughty manner, coming across as conceited, boastful and pretentious
Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office

At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they perceive as criticism, and they can:
Become impatient or angry when they don’t receive special treatment
Have significant interpersonal problems and easily feel slighted
React with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make themselves appear superior
Have difficulty regulating emotions and behavior
Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change
Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection
Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation

  11. @Done with Governor Frat Boy,
Many democrats fit that bill, including Kamala Harris, Obama and Ol’ Joe(the big guy) ????

  12. Everything ol’ Noisome does is counter productive to his political survival. He is done.

Keep Digging that hole! I love it.

    1. I can hardly wait to vote him out of office!

Americans forget that one-third of registered California voters voted FOR President Trump. It was likely half except for the sweeping election and voter fraud.

  13. Tens of millions of immigrants are here for a reason. So sad to say, but Newsom will coast to victory again.
