Student Borrowers
Civil Code Division 4, Part 4, Title 1.6C.10 deals with student loans

Civil Code Division 4, Part 4, Title 1.6C.10 deals with student loans. Chapter 1 contains the student borrower bill of rights.
Section 1788.10 defines the following terms: “borrower,” “borrower with disabilities,” “borrower working in public service,” “commissioner,” “department,” “engage in the business,” “in this state,” “licensee,” “military borrower,” “older borrower,” “overpayment,” “partial payment,” “person,” “qualified request,” “qualified written request,” “servicing,” “student loan,” “student loan account,” and “student loan servicer.”
Section 1788.101 prohibits a person from engaging in abusive acts or practices when servicing a student loan in this state. An act or practice is abusive in connection with the servicing of a student loan, if the act or practice does either of the specified acts.
A student loan servicer is prohibited from doing any of the ten specified actions.
