The Masked Avenger Strikes Again!
New Mask Mandate in Effect in LA

Fresh off of her stupefying victory in court that allows her to continue to throttle public opinion, Los Angeles County’s Director of the Department of Public Health not-a-real-doctor Barbara Ferrer imposed a new mask at the start of the new year.
Doctors, nurses, and patients must now wear a mask in “health care settings” such as hospitals, ERs, and urgent cares, nursing homes, rehab facilities, etc. (no mention is made of veterinary offices.)
“…(A)ll healthcare personnel, regardless of COVID-19 and influenza vaccination status, in Licensed Healthcare Facilities that provide Inpatient Care are required to mask while in contact with patients or working in patient-care areas,” Ferrer’s department announced. “In addition, all persons visiting a Licensed Healthcare Facility that provides Inpatient Care are required to mask when around patients and while in patient-care areas.”
The reason for this mandate is, according to the county, that COVID hospital admission rates have reached “medium” level as defined by the CDC. The rate is 10.5 case per 100,000 people, just above the 10 per rate that qualifies as “medium.”
For comparison, the statewide rate is now 8.9 per 100,000, meaning Ferrer’s health department is not containing the virus as well as most of the rest of the state, anyway.
This mandate has been put in place despite the overwhelming number of studies and reports that have found that wearing a mask has no benefit regarding preventing getting or transmitting COVID.
Santa Clara County has a similar, if even more (if possible) absurd mandate in place as it specifically references a “Winter Respiratory Virus Period” from November 1 to March 31 – presumably every year forever – as part of it reasoning for a health care facility mask mandate.
“The seasonal surges also risk overwhelming the existing health care system in the county, jeopardizing the capacity to provide care for these and other diseases,” the county website states. “The Health Officer makes this Order in light of the current persistent state of the COVID-19 pandemic and recurrence of seasonal influenza and other respiratory infections.”
So, fear everything and fear it forever then…
To reiterate: masks do not stop the spread of the virus. If they did the evidence would be so clear that government mandates would not be necessary to get people to mask up:
…the lockdowns, the masks, the shots, the social distancing, the closing of schools and stores and churches and parks and everything else should have produced a clear and distinct difference – if the pandemicists were right.
If they were right, the difference in results should be stark and obvious to the naked eye. Miami should look like Genoa after the plague ships arrived while Los Angeles should seem like a New Eden. If the much-maligned Swedish “soft” model was as dangerous as the pandemicists said, Stockholm should be a ghost town.
Ferrer’s masking order comes despite the fact that the current COVID death rate is the second-lowest it’s been since COVID was a thing – March 2020 – and the fact that COVID hospitalizations – comparing end of December numbers – are also the lowest since the pandemic began.
For, well, ever, humans have been dealing with the issue of respiratory virus and infection deaths of all types ratcheting up in the winter – never before, however, have humans reacted to such a predictable event in such a ridiculous manner.
“The randomly controlled test results on masks and the flu are clear,” said Stanford professor of medicine real-doctor Jay Bhattacharya. “These renewed mask mandates are not supported by high quality data.”
It seems Barbara just wanted to remind everyone she still has a job.

Years and years ago, I decided I wouldn’t be taking health advice from anyone who looks worse than I do.
My instincts were correct then, and they’re still correct today.

Sounds like Fake Doctor Barbara Ferrer received some new jackboots for Christmas and was just ITCHING to try them out.
Most masks except properly fitted N95 masks have pore sizes of at least 1000nm while the “COVID virus” is about 120 nm and there are numerous peer reviewed studies that show masks don’t work. Barbara Ferrer, Director of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health who issued this order, initially dropped out of college as an undergrad, but she eventually earned a bachelor’s degree in community studies, and went on to earn a PhD in social welfare. She has no medical training whatsoever, earns $400k, and she literally looks like an undead zombie from the Walking Dead!
N95’s wont stop aerosolized virus particles. That type of hazard requires a full face respirator and ear plugs, minimum. Workers in pig slaughter houses get nasty ear infections.
Correction: The esteemed ‘Dr.’ Ferrer’s annual total compensation is inching up towards the $600K mark. It was $585,610 in 2022.

What are the penalties for disobeying this bullshit “order”? I am now totally opposed to an all-female council/board etc. The Supervisors are horrible horrible administrators. Ferrer should be on trial for violating CA HSC 1115550 regarding investigational drugs and medical devices.
Asking healthcare workers to wear a mask around patients is so obvious that you don’t really gain much by citing “many studies” that say what you want. Do you want a surgeon to operate on you without a mask? “It would be obvious if they worked” is goofy. “Stockholm should be a ghost town”. The virus killed 1-3% of the population, mostly old people. That difference between “terrible” and “excellent” control wouldn’t be visible to the casual observer. Pretending that it would clear the streets is so absurd you’d think this dude would say “Someone is lying to me”. Intead he adds it in like it’s a ringer. “People have been dealing with winter respiratory viruses forever”. Yeah, that’s why they have asked you mask up if you have a respiratory infection at any healthcare facility, “well, forever”. What’s next for the “freedom” pseudos? Freeing healthcare workers from the fascism of washing their hands?
Masks are supposed to protect medical professionals from flying patient fluids, and/or, to keep their own flying sneeze saliva away from patients, and/or, in the case of surgery to keep the surgeon’s flying sneeze or drool saliva out of the patient’s open surgical cavity. Commenter TJ above has it right. As do other authors who write here and commenters have frequently repeated, based on many many many solid mask efficacy (lack of efficacy, that is) studies, that the “Covid” virus is much much much smaller than the mask openings. As one has often said, “using a mask to keep out the “Covid” virus it is like using a chain link fence to keep out mosquitoes.”
The masks have ALWAYS been about making people wear a symbolic manifestation of fear that our ruling class hopes will be super-contagious to the entire population as well as a dry run to see what outrageous tyrannical event the ruling class can get away with next. That way too many people are sheep who follow one another without thought and do what they are told without skepticism —– of any kind, apparently —– is our central problem today, as it was during the fake pandemic. Sensible people are always at the mercy of such people. Our recent fake pandemic event was a huge example of this, and we’re still living the fallout from it all.
P.S. And by the way, where is the apology for the hell that Gavin Newsom and his minions (including an apology from Fake Doctor Barbara Ferrer) put Californians through for three years? Instead of continually trying to sneak this nonsense into our lives again in hopes of normalizing it and jerking us around again when the “Covid” fake pandemic is way way way way behind us?
Gov normalizing control over the people. They will keep mandating things for other reasons but its always about controlling the masses so when tyranny comes they will be less resistant
I can tell you that everyone working in the two veterinary clinics in our little town still wear masks – when dealing with humans anyway. We switched vets in 2022, when they masked up and rolled a table with a 6′ x 6′ plexiglass divider out to the parking lot to “discuss your pet’s appointment needs” while mumbling behind the glass, behind their mask. I laughed, said “never mind”, and left. But, yeah, they all still wear the snazzy masks
