In the latest talks surrounding who will represent the Democratic platform in 2020, a California congressman has officially added his name to the mix.

In a Fox News interview with host Neil Cavuto, Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-East Bay) has officially announced that he plans to make a 2020 presidential run.

After being asked by Cavuto “There is a report in Politico and elsewhere that you are seriously considering a run for President, are you?” Swalwell responded “Absolutely I am looking at it.”

Swalwell went on to discuss his anticipation of a highly crowded field of Democrats all biding for a Democratic nomination. This included the likes of potential competitor and fellow California representative Senator Kamala Harris.

“I think what the American people are looking for is someone with experience. I’ve been in the House for 6 years, I was a prosecutor for 7 years before … And someone who can defend our country when it’s on the ropes.”

California’s 15th Congressional District representative has recently been upping his already numerous appearances on all major networks and has proven to be one of the most outspoken opponents of the Trump administration.

The notion that an American born in the 1980s could lead the nation signals a dramatic generational shift, as Swalwell is one of several millenials whose political profiles have been boosted by energetic resistance to Trump. The announcement comes just a few days after he stated, “We will conduct the investigations that Republicans won’t … We’ll fill in the gaps on the Russia investigations. The American people will see his tax returns, not because of voyeuristic interest, but because they should know if he is corrupt.”

Look for the Congressman to make many more cable appearances in the near future and potentially attempt to spearhead the re-opening of the Russia investigations.
