Another First from California: the Nation’s First Transgender Voting Place

This is the epitome of government uselessness

By Katy Grimes, March 4, 2024 7:41 am

California is amazing. So many firsts in the nation – the first state to outlaw Foie Gras and shark fin soup, the first state to outlaw fur, the first state to fund abortion tourism, the first state to pay for health care for illegal immigrants.

And now California is the first state to open the first transgender voting center in the United States.

And of course, it’s in Los Angeles.

The LA Daily News reported:

“The Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center (CONOTEC) in the Fairfax area will be used as an official vote center beginning Saturday and continuing through Election Day on Tuesday.

“I couldn’t be prouder that L.A.’s Fifth Council District is now home to the first voting center in the nation located in a transgender facility,” City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky said in a statement.

Why does Los Angeles need a transgender polling place? Councilwoman Yaroslavsky explains:

“As extremists across the country continue their endless attacks on both the LGBT community and our democracy, Los Angeles must stand as a beacon of hope,” she said. “I want to thank CONOTEC for opening this voting center and for the critical work they do every day to support the needs of the Los Angeles transgender and nonbinary community.”

I’ve never noticed any harassment or attacks on transgender people when they vote. So why now? LAist explains:

“Queen Chela Demuir, the founder of the Unique Woman’s Coalition and the international vice president of FLUX, told LAist that it’s important for all Americans to have an opportunity to cast their vote in a place where they feel free and comforted.”

“In a time when our trans and nonbinary siblings are having to face elements of erasure with legislation, it’s important that we speak up,” she said. “It’s important for us to go to the polls, go to the voting places, and cast those votes against those legislations that want to bind us, and prevent us from being who we are.”

California’s illustrious Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis was on hand for the latest California First: “Kounalakis was among the dignitaries who visited the center on Thursday to celebrate the vote center, calling it ‘a significant milestone in our efforts to champion equality, inclusivity and LGBTQA+ rights in California.’”

“By providing a safe and affirming space for the transgender community to exercise their fundamental right to vote, we are breaking down barriers and ensuring every Californian has equal access to the ballot box,” Kounalakis said, in a statement that means nothing. “Breaking down barriers…” blah blah blah. And to think she wants to be governor.

How are members of the transgender community currently unable to exercise their “fundamental right to vote?”

According to LAist, “More than 500 anti-trans bills have been introduced across 41 states this year alone, according to the Trans Legislation Tracker.”

This is the epitome of government uselessness and evidence that the stupid people are running everything.

“Our vote center model gives us the flexibility to locate vote centers in facilities and communities that give voters options that convey the significance of being heard through the act of voting,” Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan said in a word salad Kamala Harris would be proud of.

Whatever that means.

While the Transgender Empowerment Center will be open and available to all voters, “organizers will place an emphasis on serving a safe and empowering place for transgender, non-binary and LGBTQA+ community members.”

I am willing to bet that the majority of voters in Los Angeles are far less concerned about a Transgender Empowerment Center than they are with rising food and gas prices, vanishing insurance companies, increasing interest rates, escalating rents, record crime, staggering illegal immigration, the homeless crisis, and an epidemic of incompetent politicians.

  1. What the ……? (!!!) Oh, brother! I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that even ‘transgenders’ rolled their eyes at this one.

But you GO, Wannabe Anarchist Council Member Katy Yaroslavsky! You just keep on keeping on, stigmatizing City of L.A., not to mention California, with your silly, ridiculous, and completely useless nonsense.

PLEEEZE, all sane residents of L.A. City and County (and all of its 88 municipalities), “affirm your own ‘safe space'” and be sure to Vote for the Opposite of a Katy Yaroslavsky, who is obviously NUTS, in L.A. City and L.A. County.

Most important, Vote Jonathan Hatami for LA DA, who definitely has the momentum now, a momentum which we, as L.A. County voters, all need to join so he will make it to the ballot in November. It’s a real opportunity for sensible people to prevail and get public safety back on track. Otherwise in a likely low-turnout election with robotic do-what-their-told govt and public employee union votes mobbing you-know-who and his mini-me Chemerinsky it could very well be four more years of hell and crime and bloodshed and chaos, which you can imagine as will only get worse. And then we are completely screwed. Jon Hatami for L.A. County D.A.

If you drop your mail-in ballot in the mail by 5 p.m. tomorrow, March 5, your vote will be counted.

  2. So yes, I’m trans and while the idea of a safe place is nice this inadvertently calls out “hey trans community come to us, out yourself”. Honestly I wished all of the discussion of trans people would just stop, please just stop. Stop calling attention to a community of humans and start calling attention to the problems of the country. WE are not sex offenders, WE are not criminals, WE are not atheists… stop stereotyping and stop creating poorly written biased articles like this one.

    1. L.A. Council member Katie Yaroslavsky is the problem here. She is just pandering, or trying to get attention, or who-knows-what. It’s just plain silly and a time-waster that she has set this up, and you make a good point that most people don’t appreciate being pointed at and/or outed.
Paid activists of all stripes who are also (nominally) on the left are typically the problem here, not rank-and-file members of any particular group. It seems to me most people are just trying to get along, work, live, do the right thing, enjoy their leisure time, and etc. That’s why this kind of an attention-getting tactic is ridiculous and we should all push to get such politicians and office-holders who endlessly insist on wasting our time for their own benefit OUT OF OFFICE.

  3. Um, if they do not “feel comfortable” going to vote. Here’s a revelation for them. Just MAIL-IN your ballot. what a farce.

  4. If they dressed like normal people no one would notice any difference, but then what fun would that be?

  5. That accompanying photo alone, could easily trigger an entire population which obsesses on gender identity options as a life long endeavor.

  6. So California has money to spend on safe voting spaces? Not to say it doesn’t happen, but I’ve always voted in person and have never seen anyone harassed. Most people want to get in and get out.

BTW, there’s nothing wrong with this article. It’s informative and I have a right to know what’s going on in own state. No one twisted my arm to read it. If I didn’t like the article, I could go to a thousand other websites. Keep up the good work California Globe!

  7. “As extremists across the country continue…blah, blah, blah” Yes, Comrade Commissar – all who think for themselves are extremists. All praise the nomenklatura!

  8. Now why would LA City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky and Democrat Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis make the preposterous claim that LA needs a transgender polling place? Maybe some members of the criminal Democrat mafia are getting payoffs from the CCP to push the trans agenda?

It appears that two CCP-linked billionaires are pushing the radical transgender movement as a means of advancing a Marxist agenda in the United States according to bestselling author Peter Schweizer in his new book “Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans.” Schweizer explores how two billionaires, China-based American Neville Roy Singham and Alibaba co-founder Joseph Tsai, prop up radical activists groups that use transgenderism as a weapon against the “capitalist order.”

“While enjoying his affluent life and connections in Beijing, Singham has poured more than $100 million into organizations driving the protest movement in the United States,” Schweizer details. Schweizer found that Singham’s organizations have also funded and organized efforts to push the LGBTQ movement further into the American public debate via an event titled “Becoming Numerous: Legacies of Queer and Trans Rebellion.”

As for Jospeh Tsai, co-founder of Alibaba (essentially a state-controlled entity in China), he has “poured millions of dollars into trans causes and research in the United States,” Schweizer writes.

In contrast, the Chinese government has limited LGBTQ appearances on television and in films, arguing that the depiction of those subjects is damaging to the country. The Chinese government views LGBTQ as “an evil foreign influence that prevents young people from marrying and having children” and bans “effeminate men” on television, among other depictions that could be seen as pro-gay. Social media companies have shut down accounts on the LGBTQ topic. Indeed, LGBTQ groups “often don’t officially register with authorities” because they will not be approved.

  9. As a subset of the collective left, their function is to create an illusion such as when hikers are told ” When approached by a Grizzly bear, always make yourself appear bigger than you really are.”

  10. What pandering stupidity and waste. So do these idiots think trans people can’t mail in their ballot if they don’t feel ‘safe’?

  11. Excellent article. This is the bottom line.
“More than 500 anti-trans bills have been introduced across 41 states this year alone, according to the Trans Legislation Tracker.”

“This is the epitome of government uselessness and evidence that the stupid people are running everything.”
