As AG, Xavier Becerra Prevented California Housing

As with so many of the political opportunist ilk sleaze, Becerra now suddenly demands the very housing he prevented

Xavier Becerra is now running for Governor of California, decrying the high cost and low supply of housing, yet Becerra is a big cause of that problem. As California Attorney General, Becerra headed the California Department of Justice, and utilized state money to actively, and illegally, fight expanded housing opportunities, and especially big developments that included lower cost housing in our state, asserting that development would increase greenhouse gases, so that he could politically appeal to the extreme “environment” movement of the democrat party for his personal political benefit. As with so many of the political opportunist ilk sleaze, Becerra now suddenly demands the very housing he prevented. The press should hold his feet to the fire to force Becerra to explain why he prevented major housing projects throughout the state as California Attorney General. My archives have copious examples of threats by Cal DOJ to local governments pressing them to not allow development, due to the greenhouse gas excuse.

AB 32 is California’s controlling greenhouse gas legislation, and was passed in 2006. That statute had a series of phase in dates for various aspects of that statute. While well intended, AB 32 spawned a major scam industry, including by state government agencies, which the major one is run by the California Attorney General, including Becerra, who was Cal AG and head of Cal DOJ.

AB 32 legislation was stated to be legally administered by the Air Resources Board and that agency has attorneys sufficient for that function. However, immediately, democrat Cal AGs wanted publicity, and threatened local governments over AB 32 strictures prior to the legislated phase in dates. Shockingly, Cal DOJ even threatened local governments before any part of AB 32 became law. That is the definition of bullying by publicity seeking office holders, which in law is defined as “illegal actions under the color of law.”

Since AB 32 became law, several successive democrat California Attorneys General have utilized state funds to illegally pursue AB 32 alleged air pollution aspects to prevent the development of housing for the resulting publicity, claiming saving the environment. That disregarded the actual public good, did nothing to save the environment, and was just political self-promoting BS resulting in a detrimental impact on our state’s population.

Many, not just one, of the yearly state wildfires render air pollution, far beyond any AB 32 alleged air quality savings, that have resulted from state-imposed strictures that caused businesses and their employees to be economically destroyed and included very high paying jobs now driven out of California to other states. In other words, those state imposed draconian air pollution efforts were, in fact, economically destructive and futile.

A former Sacramento County Supervisor told me that, when the county development plan was being revised, a Cal DOJ attorney always attended meetings as an implied threat to limit housing development.

Now suddenly, Becerra and other California democrat office holders want greatly expanded and lower cost housing, the very thing they consciously prevented for decades.
