Republican congressional candidate Omar Navarro, who is running against incumbent Democrat Maxine Waters, was arrested and booked Saturday in San Francisco. The charges range from a misdemeanor to felonies. He was released on bail Sunday morning for  $75,000.

The arrest occurred a day after the LAGOP officially endorsed Republican candidate Joe Collins for congress. Collins is also running against Waters.

DeAnna Lorraine, a congressional candidate running against Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told the California Globe Sunday afternoon, “I was granted a five-year restraining order from Omar on August 1.”

Lorraine confirmed Navarro was arrested for violating the restraining order she had in place.

Lorraine previously filed an emergency Contempt of Court motion on November 13th after Navarro repeatedly violated the restraining order issued by Judge Gia Bosely of Torrance, District Court of Los Angeles.

Congressional candidate DeAnna Lorraine had a restraining order against Omar Navarro.

Lorraine’s campaign manager said: “With such a long history of threats of violence and extortion against women, he has become quite the professional at sliding himself through the cracks to avoid prosecution and thankfully, the SFPD wasn’t going to let him get away this time.”

LAGOP and CAGOP endorse Joe Collins

As Navarro sat in jail over night the LAGOP endorsed candidate Joe Collins posted on social media, “Huge thank you to L.A. GOP and CAGOP for allowing me the opportunity to gain your trust, respect and support. I look forward to working together in efforts to building a strong party and turning California red again. As an officially endorsed LAGOP candidate we have a lot of work to do, but if we work together everything is possible.“

Navarro tweeted his response before being arrested about being shunned by the Republican Party: “I have been a registered Republican my whole life. The Republican Party of Los Angeles @CAGOP has in one day endorsed a man who was a former Green Party member five months ago running against our @POTUS also making false rumors as well as a motion to vote me out of office as an ex offico.”

Navarro has a history with Maxine Waters, and with getting arrested

Navarro, who was a GOP activist in the South Bay, tried to unseat incumbent Rep. Maxine Waters, in 2018. In September 2016, the then 28-year old pled guilty and was convicted of a misdemeanor for placing an electronic device onto his wife’s car. The sentence was one day in jail and 18 months probation. In addition Omar was ordered to take anger management courses according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

In 2014, Navarro ran for Torrance City Council and only received .95 percent of the votes.

According to Lorraine: “We have actively pleaded with Mr. Navarro and tried everything to get him to stop the threats and harassment that my staff and I have had to endure for months. The terms dangerous and obsession have clearly been redefined for me but it has not distracted me from the mission at hand. We look forward to moving forward with our campaign and fighting for our country.”

  1. How can you run as anything for any party in the state, considering other states have committees who vet only certain candidates for certain offices. None others are allowed to run for offices representing a party if the party does not wish it.

    1. That’s not accurate. Anyone can run on any primary ticket without any party endorsement or vetting. Only after one has lost the primary is one no longer allowed to ru on that party’s ticket.

    1. Wonder what you do for a living? Or hope to become. Democrats are the handouts party Republicans advocate self-reliance.

  2. All you Dems are non American ass holes
In the bottom of the ocean you will find whale do-do and under all that do-do you will find where Democrats come from!!!!

  3. Hopefully a Republican will run against Maxine waters and send her packing from dc back to CA. The people of the USA including California need a better Rep that doesn’t over step people’s privacy in eating establishments to eat in peace while with Famly and friends not having waters encourage people from Democratic side to harass them in public places. She is rude and potty mouth not a good rep for Calif. or other states in union. She needs replaced as well as Pelosi both Crooked
