El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells’ DSA Opponent Scrubs DSA Website of Endorsement
Kraft was identified on Democrat Socialists of America San Diego’s own website as the PSL founder

El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells is in a tough reelection campaign and his opponent is Alexander Kraft, a self-described socialist.
You may remember El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells from California Globe reports earlier this year when he asked the California Department of Justice a simple question, “If a child in our city is being sex-trafficked by an illegal alien, can we at least do a welfare check on that child?” The answer he received was “No.”
The Attorney General’s office told Mayor Wells, “That would violate SB-54.” Wells posted his reply on X: “No workaround. No alternative. No explanation for how you’re supposed to save that child. That’s what California’s sanctuary law protects. Not the child. The trafficker.”
Wells and the America First Policy Institute filed a lawsuit against California Attorney General Rob Bonta over SB 54, California’s “sanctuary state” law. Shielding illegal immigrants violates federal immigration law, but does not prohibit enforcing state criminal laws, including those against human trafficking, child sexual exploitation, child abuse, or endangerment, which Wells said makes the AG’s response perplexing, and thus the lawsuit.
In his campaign for reelection, Well’s challenger is San Diego founder of Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), Alexander Kraft.
Kraft says El Cajon residents deserve a citywide minimum wage, guaranteed union wages, subsidized first-time home buyers and corporate-free housing, “a city free of militarized masked police,” audit the police budget to fund “community needs.” We’ve seen these same policies from other DSA candidates.
Kraft was identified on Democrat Socialists of America San Diego’s own website as the PSL founder, Amy Reichert posted to X.
EXPOSED: Alexander Kraft, candidate for Mayor of El Cajon, was identified on Democrat Socialists of America San Diego’s own website as the “San Diego founder of Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL)”
Its official PSL program says capitalism “cannot be voted out of power” and “it will take a revolution.”
It says “revolution is a necessity and a right” and calls for the existing government to be ABOLISHED.
Then it gets even more explicit:
“The standing army and police must be disbanded” and replaced by “armed people” organized in workers’ defense councils.
PSL says the new revolutionary government would be defended by an “armed, organized working class.”
Now DSA San Diego has removed the words “San Diego PSL founder” from its live homepage and replaced them with “union organizer and educator.”
Kraft is also running as a “Peace & Freedom Party” candidate. DSA & PSL candidates typically use the Democrat or Peace & Freedom Party as a FRONT and a vessel to hide their actual agenda and it isn’t peace and it isn’t freedom.

That has been scrubbed, or at least “sanitized”: On September 22, DSA San Diego’s homepage announced its endorsement of “San Diego PSL founder Alexander Kraft.” By October 2, that line had been rewritten to call him a union organizer and educator. Nothing else in that section changed. Both versions are saved on the Wayback Machine.

What PSL is: The Party for Socialism and Liberation is a Marxist-Leninist party. Its written program says:
- Capitalism “cannot be voted out of power” and it will take a revolution
- Police and the standing army “must be disbanded” and replaced by “the armed people”
- Banks, industry and agribusiness get seized “without compensation”
- Making a profit from renting or selling land becomes illegal
- Free speech can be “abridged” to keep capitalism from coming back

October 7, 2026: The 3rd anniversary of the 2023 Hamas terror attack on Israel, PSL put out a statement calling it a “bold counter-offensive” and a “morally and legally legitimate response to occupation.”
The ADL counts more than 1,700 anti-Israel rallies the party has sponsored or co-sponsored since.
Alexander Kraft is asking to run San Diego, with more than 1.4 million residents, with its own police department, and the party he reportedly helped start in San Diego wants police abolished.
Voters need to know if Alexander Kraft still stands by that platform, and why his allies quietly erased the connection a month before the election. Why is he distancing himself from The Party for Socialism and Liberation?
