Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Suing California, Washington For Issuing Commercial Licenses to Illegal Immigrant Truck Drivers
Truck driver accused in deadly Florida Turnpike crash entered U.S. illegally

Harjinder Singh of Stockton, illegally in the U.S., is the truck driver accused of making an illegal U-turn on a Florida turnpike that caused the deadly August crash killing three South Florida residents.
CBS News reported, “Dashcam footage from the semi-truck showed the moment Singh attempted the illegal U-turn with his vehicle, blocking all northbound lanes of the Turnpike. The video captured the minivan crashing into the trailer and becoming trapped underneath.”
Singh fled back to the sanctuary state of California where his commercial license was issued, but was nabbed by U.S. marshals in the San Francisco Bay Area, and extradited back to Florida by Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins.
“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent his deputy to California to pick up fugitive Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant from India who allegedly killed three motorists after making an illegal U-turn in his big rig on Florida’s Turnpike near Port St. Lucie,” Fox News reported. “I have dispatched my new lieutenant governor, Jay Collins, to California to apprehend Harjinder Singh,” DeSantis told Fox News Digital.
According to the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), the fatal crash occurred on Aug. 12 at 2:57 p.m. near Mile Marker 171 on the northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Fort Pierce.
Last week, Florida’s attorney general announced he would file a lawsuit against California and Washington, accusing the states of defying federal safety and immigration laws by issuing commercial driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.
Florida State Attorney General James Uthmeier is now asking the U.S. Supreme Court to let him sue California and Washington, seeking federal preemption of their “sanctuary” laws.
The complaint says that sanctuary policies in California and Washington prevent state agencies from verifying immigration status, allowing unqualified truck drivers on the road, First Coast News reports.
Florida Phoenix provides the details:
Uthmeier announced the effort Wednesday night on the Fox News’ “Hannity,” blaming California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, for enacting laws that Uthmeier believes harm American citizens.
The announcement came a month after Uthmeier subpoenaed the trucking firm employing Harjinder Singh, the Indian national who caused a fatal accident in St. Lucie County over the summer.
“It’s a shame, and that’s why we’re taking Gavin Newsom to the Supreme Court … to hold them accountable for the carnage that their sanctuary illegal immigration policies have caused to states like Florida,” Uthmeier said on the show.
“We can do everything right … but we still suffer when Gavin Newsom and liberals on the West Coast allow these illegals in. They encourage them — enable them — to get these drivers’ licenses, and then they cross the country and ultimately take lives.”
Hours before Uthmeier filed his case, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will withhold more than $40 million from California following an investigation that found the state failed to comply with the Department’s English language proficiency standards.
California is the only state to not comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s English Language Proficiency Requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers.
“In total, $40,685,225 from Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) funding awarded to California will be impacted. MCSAP provides grant funding for states to conduct roadside inspections, traffic enforcement, safety audits of trucking companies, and public education campaigns,” the USDOT reported.
“Let me be clear – this is valuable money that should be going to the great men and women in California law enforcement, who we support. Gov. Newsom’s insistence on obstructing federal law has tied my hands,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy said.
“For FMCSA to restore funding, California must adopt and actively enforce a law, regulation, standard, or order that is compatible with the federal ELP requirement for commercial drivers. This means state inspectors need to begin conducting ELP assessments during roadside inspections and place those who fail out-of-service.”
The Florida case is now before the U.S. Supreme Court, which will decide if it will hear the lawsuit.

Good. Hope Florida is successful.
Couldn’t agree more.
On Monday the 20th heading east bound on hwy 120 between Manteca and Escalon to make left hand turn onto Murphy road 4ish in the p.m., a semi truck stopped on north side of Murphy road south bound en route to “The Wine Group” facility on hwy 120 as I was making my turn pulled out and forced me wide off the pavement as I was making my turn north bound on hwy 120. That did not sit well so I u-turned and followed the semi to entry point on Murphy Road for “The Wine Group” truck entry gate. I have pictures of the trailer and will be tracking that person. I stopped myself from getting out and should have taken pictures of the driver, but he was Indian and his cab was lined with the typical middle eastern Indian gold and red dingle ball things. If I got out and got him out of the truck I would be locked up right now. I have grown up out in these neck of the woods and am a local farm boy and will tell all of you to not trust trucks to drive safely and be prepared to avoid them as many are not qualified to be on the road. It’s dangerous out there now more than ever, be extra defensive so you make it home.
Jimmy, thank you for sharing this dangerous incident with us and I know I speak for all the regulars here in the comment section when I say , Thank God you are OK.
I recently watched a segment from 60 minutes about the truckload of missing tequila that belonged to Guy Fieri and Ted Nugent.
It makes sense to have drivers who can not speak English when trafficking
Alcohol, Electronics, Guns, Drugs, People, Etc.
The Cartels are the big winners
and US citizens are the losers.
De-fund Politics
and
Neuter Newsom !
California has become the epicenter of shady truck driving schools often owned by illegals that have replaced proper truck driving training schools which provide practically no training and are essentially driver license mills for illegals. According to the media outlet Revolver, there’s a Punjab Truck Driving School in Fresno run by Indians that has reportedly been helping Indians submit false paperwork to get their CDLs. There’s also a North American Punjabi Trucking Association (NAPTA) which is supposedly a “non-profit” that had direct access to the Biden White House and that offered federal grants and apprenticeship funds to Indians who were non-citizens.
