Kamala Harris Continues to Receive Backlash Against Her One Year Presidential Run Anniversary Post

Post fails to mention Biden or losing election

Former Vice President Kamala Harris continues to be mocked over social media posts celebrating her one-year anniversary of gaining the 2024 Democratic Presidential nomination, with many continuing to point out how she lost and didn’t receive a single primary vote.

In July of 2024, only weeks after a disastrous debate against then Republican candidate Donald Trump, then-President Joe Biden announced that he would not run for President in 2024, becoming the first incumbent President with a possible next term to back out since Lyndon Johnson in 1968. While there was speculation that Democrats like Governor Gavin Newsom could get the nod, it was decided that Vice President Kamala Harris would run instead. This ultimately proved disastrous for Harris, leading Trump to victory in 2024 with a greater win percentage and electoral total than he had against Hillary Clinton in 2016.

After finishing up her VP term, Harris then returned to California, and for over half a year, has teased both a possible 2026 Gubernatorial run in California, as well as a possible 2028 Presidential run. While her decision is due by the end of the summer, Harris has slowly become more and more active, giving more speeches and interacting more on social media. And earlier this week, Harris posted this on X, celebrating her one-year anniversary of getting the Democratic candidacy for President.

“One year ago today, I began my campaign for President of the United States,” posted Harris on X. “Over the 107 days of our race, I had the opportunity and honor to travel our nation and meet with Americans who were fighting for a better future. And today, millions of Americans continue to stand up for our values, our ideals, and our democracy. Their courage and resolve inspires me. Whether you are attending a protest, calling your representatives, or building community, I want to say: Thank you. We are in this fight together.”

However, the post has received major backlash online for the past several days. While friendly responses pointed out her greatly reduced amount of campaign time and a tough defense of Biden policies, major backlash came from detractors, some from within her own party. Democrats and Republicans alike slammed her response for not even mentioning Biden in her post, something even Trump did with both former presidents Biden and Obama when mentioning past events. More targeted was criticism  of her getting the nomination despite not getting any primary votes.

“Becoming the presidential nominee without getting a single vote is not the flex you think it is,” posted RNC Research, the research arm of the Republican National Committee.

It was also pointed out that Harris gave no mention of the result of her campaign, AKA, losing to Trump in November.

While her post has been mocked, it likely serves as a reminder to everyone of her former position and her opposition to Trump, two huge factors that could push her to victory in 2026 or 2028. Indeed, with Harris now starting to sink in both 2026 and 2028 polls, and Former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg now besting her and Newsom in some presidential polls, Harris needs all the momentum she can get. While the post likely intended to keep people engaged with her as she makes her decision on if she will run for Governor next year, the botched execution only hurt her move instead.

Harris has yet to directly respond to the negative response to her post.

  1. I could spill a lot of column inches trashing Harris, but that would be a colossal waste of my time. With the basic facts that she’s dumber than a rock and as incompetent as anyone in history, her past shows that she can’t be trusted with even petty authority to not be a tyrant, and, to my knowlege there is not a single thing that has come to her in her entire adult life that she has actually earned. So, it is a complete mystery to me why anyone would pay the slightest attention to either her blathering or her presence. It’s a strange world.

  2. Willie Brown posted yesterday he doubted Kamala could win California. Say what you want about Brown but he does know California politics and Kamala. The presidential campaign exposed Harris, like nothing before.
    She’s done.
