Newsom’s Press Team Tells Motorists to AVOID Chevron Gas This Holiday Weekend

Well, we have another “break-the-glass” moment from Governor Gavin Newsom’s communications toddlers – this time they have picked a fight with Chevron, the third largest oil company on the planet, and are telling motorists:

“Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron. Pro tip: unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines, and it meets the same state standards to keep your engine running clean, even if it doesn’t have a fancy name like ‘Techron.’  Big Oil is already making billions off Trump’s Iran War; don’t let them rip you off even more by overpaying for the brand name.”

Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron.

I don’t suppose they care that more than 95% of Chevron retail fueling stations in the United States are independently owned and operated. By people. People who took a chance in business. People who put their butts on the line every day, especially here in California.

This unprecedented childish toddler reaction comes on the heels of Chevron posting signs at its gas stations telling motorists that the high gas prices are because of California politicians and political choices:

Apparently, Governor Gavin Newsom doesn’t want Californians reading Chevron’s new signs, because Chevron is right.

California has the highest gasoline taxes and fees in the U.S., which significantly cause its highest-in-the-nation gas prices compared to other states.

AAA verifies this on a daily basis – VOILÀ!

The national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $4.56 today. California’s average price for a gallon of regular gas today is $6.14. And California’s gas prices are higher even than Hawaii, which has to tanker everything to the islands!

As the Globe has reported for all 7+ years of Newsom’s governorship, gas prices have been climbing as Newsom squeezes the oil and gas industry with environmental regulations, laws and gas taxes and fees.

Here are some of the costly taxation policies implemented in California by the Democrat supermajority Legislature, Democrat Governor and Air Resources Board (appointed by the Governor) that drive up the cost of gasoline:

• 71 cents – State gas tax – increases annually
• 28 cents – Cap and Trade (estimate)
• 23 cents – Low Carbon Fuel Standard (estimate)
• 2 cents – Underground Storage Fee
• 10-15 cents – California’s switch to summer-blend costs more to produce than other types of gasoline.
• 14.4 cents – State sales tax (estimate based on 6/20 average price)
• 18.4 cents – Federal Excise tax

California’s total gas tax is approximately $1.61 per gallon – on top of increasing gas prices, and was estimated to be nearly $2.00 per gallon by 2026 because the California Air Resources Board is proposing amendments to the “Cap and Invest” regulations. As we reported, Chevron has been warning that the state’s proposed regulations will cripple the survivability of the state’s remaining refineries, increase fuel costs, and eliminate many high-paying jobs.

So here we are about to enjoy a holiday weekend when many Californians hit the road for some fun, and Governor Newsom’s handpicked team of leftist weirdos are telling you not to get your gas at Chevron.  I don’t think any governor’s administration has ever stooped so low as to target a business like this.

Meanwhile, watch where you drive because California’s gas taxes aren’t spent to maintain the state’s crappy roads. A bent rim or popped tires can ruin a holiday weekend.
