Sen. Scott Wiener Bill to Ban ‘Extreme Masking’ By Local & Federal ‘Secret Police’ Heads to the Governor
Sen. Wiener: ‘We have to stand up and say no to the secret police raining fear and intimidation on communities across California’
By Katy Grimes, September 13, 2025 9:01 am
The California Legislature demonstrated once again that they can run roughshod over laws they don’t like. They have passed a bill to ban federal law enforcement officers from wearing masks while performing their jobs, disregarding security risks and officers’ own safety. Lawmakers even imposed criminal penalties for noncompliance as an added bonus in Senate Bill 627, by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco).

Wiener refers to his bill as “landmark” legislation to ban “extreme masking” by local and federal law enforcement, justified by “rising fascism.”
Extreme masking and rising fascism. Law enforcement officers doing their jobs is now part of Scott Wiener’s delusional “rising fascism.”
Legally, this is quite dubious, and lawmakers know it. Senator Wiener is an attorney. The “‘No Secret Police Act’ (SB 627) is the first of dozens of proposals at the local, state, and federal level to unmask law enforcement officers acting with impunity,” Wiener says.
I wonder who Scott Wiener calls when a crime is committed against him.
U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan has repeatedly defended U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers wearing masks, and reports that officers wear masks because they and their families have been doxxed. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has described agents wearing masks as a matter of safety.
Doxxing is the act of publicly revealing someone’s private information online without their consent, often with the intent to harass, intimidate, or punish the individual… like ICE officers who are doing their jobs.
Sen. Wiener says “Masks Spur Public Safety Threats.”
Remember when Senator Wiener backed Gov. Gavin Newsom’s forced masking during three years of the governor’s statewide lockdowns for the Covid flu? Wiener is okay with forcing 40 million Californians to wear an unnecessary mask, but when a law enforcement officer dons a mask to protect his family from being doxxed, he’s the criminal.
The Biden Administration allowed millions of illegal aliens – including criminals, gang members, and terrorists – into our country, by refusing to enforce U.S. immigration laws and border security. Now the left is calling ICE officers “fascists” for rounding up illegal aliens and deporting them.
MALDEF, the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Ed Fund, is the bill’s sponsor. MALDEF claims it “protects the rights of Latinos in the United States.” However, this radical left-wing litigation and advocacy group is actually focused on immigration, election procedure, and Census activism.
According to Influence Watch, “MALDEF was founded in the late 1960s with extensive financial support from the left-wing Ford Foundation which continues through the present day. MALDEF is notable for its involvement in the creation of the “Hispanic/Latino” ethnic category in Census enumeration1 and its advocacy for expanded immigration.2 In addition to the Ford Foundation, MALDEF receives substantial support from the corporate foundation of Anheuser-Busch and liberal foundations including the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Foundation to Promote Open Society (Soros), and the California Endowment.3“
“We have to stand up and say no to the secret police raining fear and intimidation on communities across California,” said Senator Wiener. “Law enforcement should never be easily confused with the guy in the ski mask robbing a liquor store, yet that’s what’s happening with ICE’s extreme masking. In the face of rising fascism, California must hold those who are threatening our communities accountable and restore confidence in our local law enforcement who are proud to show their faces.”
Sen. Wiener is referring to law enforcement as fascists. He is confusing his “extreme rhetoric” “extreme masking.”
Except Senator Wiener would arrest the law enforcement officer for wearing a mask while trying to stop the liquor store robbery.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Good luck arresting Feds California. This going to backfire bigly.
Great point.
But just so that this illegal, dangerous, preposterous, outrageous Wiener bill isn’t on the books for one second, those of you who want to can bombard, I mean, contact the Gov’s office with your objections, urging him not to sign the darn thing. See the Gov contact link below. If you want to you can point out that signing this is not gonna look good or play too well on the resume he is building for Prez 2028.
Contact the Governor:

So the California Marxist Democrats are going to tell U.S. Federal law enforcement officers how to do their jobs? Good luck with that.
You can count on every bill Weiner authors to be an automatic disaster.
Another Wiener bill, SB 79, passed in the last couple of days, sneaked in amidst the other shock and turmoil at the end of the session. (Buffy Wicks co-author.) That’s the one that will kill the suburbs with no local control over 6-story multifamily housing erected in the middle of single family neighborhoods – if they are within half a mile of transit. Everyone except rural areas is within half a mile of transit. Aside from being an outrageous blight on single family neighborhoods, no parking on site is required, nor is attention to other infrastructure, sewer capacity, water, traffic considerations & etc. A nightmare. Wiener has been trying to pass all of this crap —- and has succeeded with some of it —– for a long long time, as you know. He and his ilk hate the suburbs and want to kill them but he will also $$benefit$$ because he has developer donors.
It’s on Newsom’s desk now, awaiting his signature, so everyone who cares about their neighborhoods not going to hell and blight might want to contact him about this one too, in very strong (but civil) terms. I know it’s a difficult time to do this stuff but try to get to it if you can:

Gavin: DO NOT SIGN SB 79
P.S. Gee, do you think we will see these 6-story out of scale out of balance tall nightmare buildings go up all over Newsom’s own pastoral neighborhood loveliness of Marin County, which he himself had a hand in exempting (until 2028!) when he was Lt Gov?
NO. Of course not.
Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s multi-million dollar mansion in Kentfield is located near the College of Marin Kentfield’s campus which acts as a transit hub for two bus lines that run through Kentfield, so it’s only fitting that a low income 6-story multifamily housing should be erected since it meets the requirements of the idiotic bill being pushed by creepy Senator Scott Wiener and the equally creepy Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks. The Newsom’s and Marin County’s wealthy Democrats should embrace and celebrate the diversity that high rise low income housing will bring to their pastoral neighborhood!
YES TJ.
Please consider calling or writing Governor “I’m all about myself and my helpful-to-me friends in Marin County” Newsom on this ruinous-to-everyone-else-in-CA-but-Newsom bill, SB 79:

SB 79.
👍…it will be like spitting into the wind though?
I hear you, TJ. And I do know your thought is probably the general reaction out there. That if it doesn’t seem to change anything and if it isn’t done judiciously people probably won’t do it. But I like to think of it as a practice exercise in improving the ease and consistency of communicating with our awful CA politicians. (And remind them that we’re watching them.) Then we’re in the habit of doing it and it becomes as easy as breathing.
It can’t hurt and it might just make a difference depending on how many “sacks of mail” are delivered and phones annoyingly “ring off the hook.” So to speak. 🙂

Kinda brings to mind “Silence of the Lambs.”
Showandtell, Ive seen the poster and yep, you nailed it.
I’m confused, how can a state impose a law on federal employees?? Are the democrats really this incompetent? Sorry I just answered my own question!!!!!
@Enough Already. LOL Yes, you did answer your own question. That’s why this state ranks dead last in so many metrics.
Gee, 1) I thought these people were on record as Love, LOVE, LOVING masks.
2) But now, when real danger is afoot, they’re on record for wanting harm to come to law enforcement officers. You know, because many of the officers and their families received death and other threats from being doxxed with no masks and visible I.D.s?
3) Katy Question: “I wonder who Scott Wiener calls when a crime is committed against him?”
Answer: “One of the bruiser Drag Queens he has on speed dial?”
Violent groups like Antifa, Transtifa, BLM, etc. seem act like the “secret police” of Democrat party and they’re the ones who need to be unmasked? They should also probably be designated as terrorist organizations?
Perhaps a desperate plea ending with yes you can wear a mask, just hurry.
Feds: Make the masks a mandatory part of the UNIFORM, with its use optional. Then, no state can dictate a Federal Uniform.
That’s a very good idea.
@Janet Allen, Good thinking!
Definition of Fascism
A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
So unmask Federal agents, so Democrats can inflict violence on them and their families as a method of suppression of their opposition. Antifa, BLM, Democrats wear masks while attacking ICE agents.
Yeah, that sounds like fascism to me. California is a fascist state.
That’s it, Protect Freedom. Thanks for posting
More prima facie evidence that San Feanfreakshow should be excommunicated to be its own State to be run by these insane special interest legislators …
Weiner and Wicks are both mentally ill….
This law is nothing but a toothless virtue signal. The supremacy clause of the constitution makes it clear that states cannot dictate policy to the federal government. Also, local police departments are under no compunction to comply with this law as they are the ones who would need to enforce it and they are not going to enforce it against themselves. Scott Wiener once again shows us that he is a total looser.
