Students Form Human Swastika on San Jose High School Football Field

What has infiltrated California’s public school curriculum is DEI – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – and Critical Race Theory

Eight Branham High School students in San Jose  formed a human swastika on their school’s football field last week, and then posted a photo of it to Instagram with an antisemitic 1939 quote from Adolf Hitler.

Where does this disturbing antisemitism come from?

While the students have been identified, their names will not be revealed due to federal law. Branham High School announced Friday that an investigation has been launched, the NY Post reported.

California State Senator Scott Wiener posted it to his Facebook page, and expressed his disgust and outrage:

Last week, high school students in San Jose formed a human swastika on the school football field. They posted it, with a 1939 quote from Hitler about “international financial Jews … plunging nations into a world war,” requiring “annihilation of the Jewish race.”

The school responded well to this horrific incident. But we need to ask ourselves why these students believed it was ok to do this — not just the swastika but linking it to extermination of Jews due to “international financial Jews.”

We see lots of rhetoric today, on both right & left, about Jews controlling institutions — governments, elected officials, financial institutions, media, etc. For millennia, this claim of Jewish control & manipulation has been a pillar of antisemitic demonization, leading to violence.

Antisemitism is pervasive & growing. It’s leading to harassment & violence against Jews. Yet, there’s an orchestrated campaign to deny its existence. We see this in the lies spread in opposition to the Jewish community’s work this year to pass state legislation on school antisemitism.

We need to take antisemitism seriously & push back hard when people deny its existence — or even worse, pay lip service to it, say it’s bad, but then say we shouldn’t do anything about it.

I disagree with Sen. Wiener on most political issues, but he’s correct on the stunning and horrific rise of antisemitism in the United States.

Just read some of the disturbing comments left on his Facebook post:

“This gives me faith in the next generation.”

“I mean all you have to do is a little research and they are right.”

“I mean are they wrong?”

“The kids are correct and so was the Austrian painter.”

“The disturbing scene was photographed and shared in a since-deleted Wednesday social media post that featured an antisemitic 1939 quote from Adolf Hitler,” the New York Post explained.  ‘If the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevization of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe,’ read what appeared to be an Instagram caption.”

“Our message to the community is clear: this was a disturbing and unacceptable act of antisemitism. Actions that target, demean, or threaten Jewish students have no place on our campuses,” said Beth Silbergeld, the school’s principal, in a statement to The Los Angeles Times. “Personally, I am horrified by this act. Professionally, I am confident and hopeful that our school community can learn from this moment and emerge stronger and more united.”

We’ve seen this creeping, social justice warrior, alt-left takeover of many of California public school districts and the curriculum, promoting so-called “unconscious bias” and “inclusivity” instruction, as well as intentionally anti-Caucasian, anti-male, anti-Christian, and anti-Jewish curriculum policies, I reported in 2023.

In December 2022, I wrote about University policies which fail to protect Jewish students from Antisemitism:

Today on college campuses we see Berkeley Law for Palestine, the Center for Chicanx and Latinx Academic Student Success, Animal rights clubs, Environmental Justice clubs, Queer Alliance clubs, Comics and Video clubs… NYU offers more than 300 active student clubs on campus open to all students from the Cheese Club to the Superhero Club. And UC Berkeley offers Furries at Berkeley, Anthropomorphic Animal Appreciation Association, a subculture interested in anthropomorphic animals which hopes to serve and portray the furry population on campus positively (people who dress as animals).

What has infiltrated California’s public school curriculum is DEI – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – and Critical Race Theory which says objectivity and meritocracy are racist measures of people. Critical Race Theory developed from Communism, and DEI has its roots in Marxism.

The Globe has documented the rise in antisemitism and covered many reports and lawsuits of antisemitism on college and university campuses:

“Jewish students from Chapman University in Orange allege in a new federal lawsuit that they were subjected to repeated anti-Semitic harassment and discrimination for an entire school year with the ‘direct approval’ of administrators,” Evan Gahr wrote for the Globe November 24.

“2024 Chapman graduates Talya Malka and Eli Schechter say in the complaint that they were subjected to a ‘campaign of harassment’ by pro-Hamas students.  And that a key administrator was regularly informed of the abuse, including death threats, but did nothing to intervene.

“Schechter made ‘near daily pleas on behalf of Chapman’s Jewish community for respite’ to Dean of Students Jerry Price but he just acquiesced with the harassment.  He even backed the pro-Hamas Students for Justice in Palestine group when they barred Malka and Schechter from their meeting  because they are Jewish.

“Chapman so utterly failed to address the antisemitic hostile education environment it allowed to fester in the 2023-2024 school year, and indeed, on multiple occasions actively participated in it,” the lawsuit says.

This July, University of California at Berkeley Chancellor Rich Lyons told a congressional committee that he is committed to fighting anti-Semitism at the school, which is fighting multiple lawsuits and federal discrimination complaints for mistreatment of its Jewish students.

By September, a lawsuit alleges that UC Berkeley refused to rehire Israeli dance researcher and sociologist Yael Nativ because she is Israeli,  and even after the school’s own investigation determined she was the victim of discrimination they continued to deny her a job. Nativ filed a lawsuit against the University of California Board of Regents for violating state civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination based on nationality.

As one reader commented, “I don’t know why antisemites are proud of their own hate. Would these school ‘administers’ react… the same if it were black or gay students? I don’t think so and that’s a problem, blatant hypocrisy.”

  1. Tolerance of unacceptable behavior fostered by perceptions of inequality of race, gender, education, income, etc. from Marxist ideologies and co-opted Christian forgiveness corrupted our institutions allowing DEI and gender fluidity promotion over first principles of justice, moderation, self control, frugality, and virtue. Leadership weakened under Rules for Radicals.
