Trump Admin Threatens to fine California Over Trans Athlete Competing in Girls’ Sports

The Trump administration put more than 1600 California schools “on blast” for violating Title IX and equal protection in girls’ sports. 

Trans high school athlete AB Hernandez, a biological male, just won two major events at the California girls track and field state meet last weekend, robbing female athletes of those wins.

US Assistant Attorney General for the civil rights division Harmeet Dhillon issued a letter Monday to more than 1,600 California schools warning that they must uphold the equal protection clause in the Fourteenth Amendment, which prohibits discrimination on the basis if sex.

So what if schools don’t?

President Trump has already threatened California with the loss of federal funding, which at this point appears to be the only thing Governor Gavin Newsom seems to understand. In fact, Gov. Newsom even stated in his podcast with Charlie Kirk that it was “deeply unfair” to have trans athletes competing against women in sports. 

But that was all talk, as Newsom is frequently all talk and no action. The governor offered no policy changes on the trans policy, and specifically did not call for a ban.  

What he was really saying, and followed up his statement with is how unfair is it for everyone involved. He’s not saying it’s unfair for girls to compete against biological boys in women’s athletics – he’s saying that it’s also unfair for trans people.

Remember, Gov. Newsom and his wife, “First Partner” Jennifer Siebel Newsom, have quite a money-making scheme going on, we reported in 2013:

“While her husband attends to state business, Siebel Newsom engages in her passion: advancing ‘gender justice’ through her charitable nonprofit The Representation Project. According to tax documents the organization is ‘committed to building a thriving and inclusive society through films, education, and social activism,’” Open the Books reported.

Siebel Newsom, through her non-profit The Representation Project, has released four films advocating gender justice.

So, Gavin Newsom can talk all he wants about unfairness. His money interest is not only in the First Partner’s twisted films, but the Communist Party USA is also pushing trans ideology in the US.

Tuesday President Donald Trump announced that California’s current policy of allowing biological males to compete in girls sports against girls, will result in significant cuts in federal funding if California continues to resist the President’s executive order banning biological men from participating in girls school sports.

A little later in the day, the California Interscholastic Federation, which governs high school sports in California, and has said it follows state law allowing athletes to play on a sports team “consistent with their gender identity,” altered their gender policy, clearly interested in covering their butts. The CIF created a “pilot entry process” to allow previously eliminated female athletes to now participate in the 2025 CIF State Championships.

What a big bold move for the CIF, which is still not honoring or protecting California’s high school female athletes from biological males, or their opportunities in competition, by allowing the trans athletes to still compete against women and girls.

The only way to correct this injustice and violation of Title IX is to to require single-sex spaces (bathrooms, locker rooms) and single-sex opportunities (sports) on campuses; to only play on sports teams based on their biological sex and not their gender identity; and ban trans athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.

Unless Governor Newsom finds a way to overturn/repeal/ban the 2013 bill AB 1266, this won’t end well for California. I wrote about AB 1266 in 2013, warning that if passed, AB 1266 “has the potential of turning all schools into beta test sites for social experiments.” The abhorrent bill was authored by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco), and signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown, ​to require students be allowed to participate in sports and programs as the gender with which they identify, rather than their biological gender.
