California’s Sordid Trans History: Young Female Athletes are Treated Immorally and Dishonestly

Men dressing in women’s clothing and playing on women’s sports teams should be ridiculed and perpetrators should be shunned.

Instead, in California’s current bizarre opposite world, “trans-women” athletes are competing in women’s sports and dominating, and even physically harming female athletes. Men claiming to be women are in women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. They are in college dormitories, even sharing dorm rooms with young college women.

And adults working in California’s education system are forcing compliance on the young females impacted the most.

Trans high school athlete AB Hernandez, a biological male, just won two major events at the California girls track and field state meet this weekend, robbing female athletes of those wins.

The San Francisco Chronicle wrote an egregious, shameless headline on this topic:

‘Trans athlete embraced as California track and field champion by peers while adult activists duel’

The real story should be that female athletes had their victories stolen from them by males wearing makeup and dresses.

Two bills to disallow trans athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports – AB 89 and AB 844 – were heard in April in the California Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports & Tourism Committee, and killed by Democrats, but only after blaming President Donald Trump, DOGE, and calling those supporting the bills, “Nazis.”

Not very long ago, competing in athletics according to your biological sex was the legal and common sense standard. In fact, competing in athletics according to your biological sex was made federal law in 1972 with Title IX.

Now you’re a Nazi for supporting and upholding Title IX according to California Democrats.

The worst part is that high school and university officials across the country have been forcing this, putting girls in harms way.

Allowing transgender female athletes to compete deprives other female athletes, cuts some female athletes out of scholarships, and violates the equal protection promised in Title IX. Young female athletes are being treated immorally and dishonestly.

In 2013, I wrote about AB 1266, the abhorrent bill authored by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco), which Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law ​to require students be allowed to participate in sports and programs as the gender with which they identify, rather than their biological gender.

AB 1266 was sold as the “gender neutral bathroom bill,” which always made me laugh because back in the 1970’s the state made all businesses get rid of their “gender neutral” bathrooms and install dedicated bathrooms for women and men. But the trans athlete language was also prominent in the bill.

AB 1266 was a depraved multidimensional bill to require any student be permitted to use the male or female bathrooms and locker rooms in public schools, based on the student’s gender self-identification. I warned then, the bill “has the potential of turning all schools into beta test sites for social experiments.”

“The bill establishes no standard to determine the veracity of a pupil’s claim to a particular gender identity. Without establishing any standard, the determination will be left to the pupil who may claim any gender identity at any time for any reason.”

So this is where we find ourselves in 2025 – despite the many articles and warnings about the bill’s original intentions.

The left is in it for the long game as long as they achieve what they want – destruction of the American family. And as we recently explained, the left is tearing apart the family, one child at a time.

In 2013, we asked, “Is there a real need for AB 1266?

In the bill analysis, Assemblyman Ammiano said:

“AB 1266 clarifies California’s student nondiscrimination laws by specifying that all students in K-12 schools must be permitted to participate in school programs, activities, and facilities in accordance with the student’s gender identity. This bill is needed to ensure that transgender students are protected and have the same opportunities to participate and succeed as all other students.

“Although current California law already protects students from discrimination in education based on sex and gender identity, many school districts do not understand and are not presently in compliance with their obligations to treat transgender students the same as all other students in the specific areas addressed by this bill. As a result, some school districts are excluding transgender students from sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities.”

The requirement Ammiano makes of schools to treat transgender students the same as all other students is perplexing. Most schools were already making individual accommodations. It’s only when parents and special interest groups sue that these issues escalate.

Even back in 2013, research suggests that many children gradually become “comfortable with their natal gender,” an American Psychiatric Association task force reported in 2011. But the goal of any treatment should be to help the child adjust to its reality, the APA says.

How things have changed. In 2023, I covered the California Senate LGBTQ Caucus “Recognition Ceremony” Honoring Drag Nuns and Trans People, with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence invited into Senate chambers. It was like something out of the 9 Circles of Hell in Dante’s Inferno.

The ceremony quickly devolved into LGBTQ sufferer month, when lawmakers, signaling their undaunted virtue, claimed that the LGBTQ community is unsafe, has no freedoms, live in danger, are victims, and are harmed… because of right wing extremists.

The transgender condition was added to the APA diagnosis manual in 1980. In the latest edition of the manual at the time of the article, the condition was renamed “Gender Dysphoria.” So rather than provide counseling and mental health treatment to a child, the new scheme was to convince the child he or she needs “gender affirming care” and treatment.

Many parents and students reported that this very small group of kids was moved to the front of the civil rights line, thus creating the medical industry of sex changes.

One significant concern of those opposed to AB 1266 was the insistence that gender should be entirely self-identified and divorced from anatomy. Flash forward to 2025, and those concerns were well-placed.

Beth Borne offers this example of the trans industry industrial complex at UC Davis where 1 in 22 kids is trans:

California Governor Gavin Newsom even stated in his podcast with Charlie Kirk that it was “deeply unfair” to have trans athletes competing against women in sports. However, the governor made no policy changes and did not call for a ban.

As Matt Walsh of “What is a Woman” movie fame told California lawmakers in April, “If you would use the force of law to compel young girls to use a changing room with a boy, you are yourselves, predators. Transgenderism is a lie. It is such a deranged lie that man ever invented. In a free country, nobody should ever be forced to participate in a lie. As lawmakers, you have an obligation to the truth. It is a truth you all will recognize because every human who has ever lived on earth recognizes it – that men are men, and women are women, and it is that simple.

Will you side with the truth, a truth so basic that every toddler understands it, or will you disgrace yourselves by denying it? That is your choice to make.”
