San Francisco School District Parents Betrayed Again

The San Francisco children learning about belongingness and sexual ‘health’ can’t read or write at grade level

Last week, California parents discovered that the San Francisco Unified School District had proposed a “grading for equity” initiative, dumbing down all students to the lowest common denominator, The Voice of San Francisco reported. Parental outrage hit peak levels after learning the plan had been deliberately withheld from them. When they learned that the district proposal included allowing students to retake tests multiple times, excluding lateness, effort, and participation from final grades, discarding homework and classwork from grading; and basing 100% of the grade on “summative” testing was “grading for equity” according to a an SFUSD staff report, Superintendent Maria Su announced a “delay” in the implementation of the communistic plan –  which really only sought to lower the educational bar for all students.

Rather than lifting struggling students, San Francisco district comrades prefer to drag everyone’s kids down, because uneducated, ignorant youth are so much easier to control.

Your tax dollars at work? Not so much. This ridiculous plan will only ensure that more Californians flee the state.

Adding insult to injury, the district approved $172,000 for some grifter consulting group to develop this useless plan. That $172,000 could have paid for a lot of extra tutoring.

Still reeling from the deceit and the plan to educationally harm children under the cloak of “equity,” the San Francisco Standard drops a bombshell:

Three days before the start of the 2024-25 school year, the San Francisco Unified School District sent an email telling freshman parents that their kids had been automatically enrolled in a two-semester ethnic studies class. The course — which covers such topics as structural racism, colonialism, and the relative merits of capitalism versus socialism — had been an elective for a decade, but families were now being told it had been made a requirement of graduation.

If there are any lingering doubts that the left is tearing apart the family, one child at a time, it’s time for self-reflection.

Remember, it was only in 2022 that San Francisco voters overwhelmingly chose to recall SF School Board Members Gabriela Lopez, Faauuga Moliga, and Alison Collins, shaking up the power structure of one of the largest school boards in the state following voter anger over a wide variety of issues.

Apparently they learned nothing.

Far too many school districts in California adhere to teaching “the whole child,” which is a truckload of horseshite.

This “whole child” approach includes:

Social and Emotional Learning (“belongingness”)

Sustainable Physical Environment (“every day is earth day”)

Student Nutrition Services (because mommy doesn’t feel like packing you a lunch)

Counseling, Psychological, and Social Services (“31% of high school students report feeling sad”)

Health Education (Sexual education)

Family Engagement (“Community and Family Partnerships. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is about helping students develop a range of skills they need for school and life’)

This is the graphic for “family engagement:”

The “Health” education includes “LGBTQ Student Services to provide school sites the resources and district support to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth and families.”

The San Francisco children learning about “equity,” belongingness and sexual “health” can’t read or write at grade level. These people aren’t educators, they are indoctrinators.

“In California, nearly six out of 10 third graders–more than 57 percent– failed to meet grade-level standards on the 2024 state English test,” Lance Izumi, director of the Center for Education at the Pacific Research Institute reports.

“Yet, with relatively few exceptions, most of these students with weak reading skills are promoted to the next grade despite their demonstrated deficiencies.

This practice of social promotion has devastating impacts on children.”

San Francisco School District officials are harming kids, not teaching them.

“The two-semester ethnic studies class will now require students to explore topics such as structural racism and colonialism as a condition for graduation,” Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley writes. “Previously, parents could opt their children out of the course. That did not sit well with the social warriors at the SFUSD so they have now been told that their children must take the course or not graduate.”

Turley continues: “The more pressing question is why it must be mandatory. There would be less outcry if students could opt in or opt out. Many students are trying to prepare for an increasingly difficult work environment. They may be more interested in additional math or science courses. Why not let the students and their parents decide?

Superintendent Su insists, however, that students must be forced to experience something that ‘honors their lived experiences.'”

“Some parents, however, are more concerned with the ‘lived experiences’ awaiting their children if they cannot meet and exceed basic proficiency standards in an increasingly competitive job market.”

In 2019, the California Department of Education released an unintelligible draft of ethnic studies gibberish, the Globe reported five years ago.

Even the Los Angeles Times editorial board questioned the sanity of the California educators at the time: “But ethnic studies courses have little chance of succeeding if they don’t stem from a strong curriculum that challenges students to read, listen, gather facts, analyze those facts and think critically about the controversial issues that will naturally arise.”

“It’s hard to wade through all the references to hxrstory and womxn and misogynoir and cisheteropatriarchy.”

Earlier in 2019, the Globe reported that the California Department of Education was revising the 2019 Health Education Curriculum Framework for California Public Schools, Kindergarten Through 12th Grade. However, what was and is still being foisted on children as young as age five, cannot even be uttered on the public airways, because radio and television stations would receive a stern violation letter from the Federal Communications Commission:

  • Comprehensive sexual health and HIV prevention education in grades kindergarten through grade six;
  • gender expression and identity;
  • Kindergarten books that introduce 5-year-olds to families with members who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender;
  • Lessons which teach third graders that sexual reproductive organs don’t always match a person’s gender;
  • Sexual health lessons that must include examples of same-sex sexual activity. Students should not be separated by sex during these lessons to avoid “misgendering” students.
  • Gender is not strictly defined by physical anatomy or sex assigned at birth. Rather, students understand that gender refers to attitudes, feelings, characteristics, and behaviors that a given culture associates with being male or female, sometimes labeled “masculine” and “feminine.” Moreover, a person’s gender identity refers to their sense of self, while gender expression refers to their outward gender presentation including physical appearance and behaviors. Understanding individual differences will help students feel accepted and be more accepting.”

California’s Department of Education appears to be focused on anything and everything but education.

Today’s lesson plans are written by Social Justice Warriors and LGBT activists, and enshrined in the California education code, California Globe reported in 2019.

What is being done to California’s children by public schools is criminal. It is deliberate. It is social and emotional grooming and indoctrination.

Even with a recall of the entire school board in 2022, San Francisco parents and their children have been betrayed again.

But the real blame rests on the shoulders of Governor Gavin Newsom and his appointed radicals of the California Department of Education.

Elections matter. San Francisco parents are acutely aware of this.

  1. The thugs and bullies of SFUSD and its poisonous tentacles are going to be surprised when these “proposals” and “policies” thrust upon parents and their children are perceived as FIGHTING WORDS for parents. Sounds like they are already getting the blowback they deserve. And there will be more.

  2. Student ideals of learning and curiosity took a big hit with the application of chain link fence lines.

    1. How is it “unrelated”? It’s a photo of parents in Sacramento (the source of all this insanity) protesting against the exact same garbage that the parents in San Francisco are. Better to go straight to the source.

  3. Speaking of (ahem) Bay Area betrayal, I saw Athena Pelosi, Hen Godess of War, addressing a group of Vets at S.F. National Cemetery. I’ll stop here…

  4. SFUSD is typical of several other California school districts in our large cities. They are in a decline- losing over 4,000 students and projecting more for the next year. This means layoffs and school closures, never popular with parents and staff, and sure to engender demonstrations. Making a social justice class “mandatory” when reading and math scores are so low, gives opponents immediate talking points to recall school board members again. Watch parents flee in greater numbers now.

  5. Yesterday in Clovis, which prides itself an annual rodeo town (npi), crossed the Ruby-con and allowed a delicate little flower with testes, to win girl’s championship track and field events, in a Veteran’s Memorial Stadium.

  6. And yet is is becoming harder and harder for CA Students to get admitted to Desiorous CA Colleges and Universities (Ones the Taxpayer pays for). Can you say “Out of State and Foreign Students” which provide more money for the institutions in question.

    1. It’s even harder for California students who are Asian and Caucasian to get admitted to California’s colleges and universities because of the pervasive discrimination by the left and the criminal Democrat mafia that controls the state.

  7. “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.”
