It’s not often that the general public gets a peek inside modern-day academia. The Globe got that peek this week thanks to a friend who forwarded an email from the University of California, Berkeley Center for Right-Wing Studies, which is co-hosting/co-sponsoring a conference on “Male Supremacism and Right-Wing Studies” next week.
First is an introduction to the Berkeley Center for Right-Wing Studies:
“The mission of the Berkeley Center for Right-Wing Studies, which is housed at the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues (ISSI), is twofold: first, to identify right-wing movements, flesh out their twentieth-century histories (how they aligned and how they survived) while isolating their novel aspects in the 21st century; and second, to develop and apply principles of how right-wing thought, ideology and organizational capacities operate to understand the state of the contemporary Right and identify its likely directions and successes.”
The 2021 Conference for Research on Male Supremacism and Right-Wing Studies is Monday May 10 through Friday May 14.
The keynote panel on Tuesday will discuss, “Attacks on Critical Race Theory and Decolonizing Education: Maintaining Institutional Racism in the U.S. and Europe.”
For those unfamiliar with the Institute for Research on Male Supremacism, their mission statement explains:
“IRMS is committed to exposing and challenging common narratives that provide shelter to male supremacist movements, advancing new theoretical understandings and practical analyses of contemporary threats, and providing resources for media and activists to improve their ability to challenge male supremacism and misogyny.”
The invitation says this conference is open to the public. 15 panels will run from Monday to Friday, 8am PT to 3pm PT.
This is just some of the agenda:
Monday, May 10th, there will be a Panel discussion on “Right-Wing Marketing and Manipulation,” and a second panel on “Fear, Fantasy, and Feelings on the Far-Right.”
They are also holding a discussion: “What are the current priorities for right-wing studies?”
Later in the day is Social Hour/Open Discussion on “The Emotional Toll of Researching Supremacist Movements.”
Tuesday is the Keynote panel: “Attacks on Critical Race Theory and Decolonizing Education: Maintaining Institutional Racism in the U.S. and Europe.”
There are two more panel discussions on “Misogynist Incels and Pickup Artists,” and “Supremacist Mobilization and Radicalization Online.”
Additional panels will discuss “White Supremacy and Its Intersections,” “Framing Masculine and Feminine Identity, Violence, and Nationalism,” “Antifeminism and the Conservative Gender Order,” and “Approaches to Research on Far-Right Ideologies and Intellectuals.”
There will be a panel discussing “Seeding Movements: Youth Mobilization and Funding in U.S. History.”
The conference website notes, “This conference is co-sponsored by the Southern Poverty Law Center, Political Research Associates, Western States Center, and the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues.”
The friend who forwarded the invitation is a UC Berkeley graduate from a few years ago, and commented: “This is absolutely, and frighteningly, real as a part of the UC system, now a cog in the Fake Racism Industrial Complex.”
These are some accomplishments of the six founders of the Institute for Research on Male Supremacism, according to their biographies:
- “provided trainings and advice on male supremacist ideology for social justice organizations,”
- “ask what motivates individuals to engage in backlash, or those attitudes and behaviors that work against gender inequality,”
- “focus on Right-wing coalition-building and institutional development,”
- “investigate how conservative white women’s political ideologies are informed by discourses of white and male supremacy,”
- “focus on the social movement dynamics of semi-anonymous Alt-Right spaces on Reddit,” and
- are “interested in young movements like the alt-right, their ideological syncretism and the cross-fertilization with misogynist groups and male supremacism,” and
- “She is particularly interested in growing male supremacist movements and identities in the Global South.”
Berkeley Center for Right-Wing Studies and The Institute for the Study of Societal Issues “provides an intellectual home for quantitative and qualitative interdisciplinary research on societal issues.”

“She is particularly interested in growing male supremacist movements and identities in the Global South.”
Who is “She”? What are the individuals’ names participating in the conference, outside of the organizations mentioned? Are we assuming by “male supremacy,” the conference will discuss Jewish and Black male supremacy? How is anything called “supremacy” going to be defined? What has the racist, anti-white organization known as the SPLC got to do with fairness or equality or balanced discussion? This conference feels like one of those groups preparing itself to organize in order to lynch — an organized lynch mob. What a disgusting group of organizations. Why isn’t misandry, which is incredibly widespread in the media, up for discussion? Why is misogyny any more important than misandry? Isn’t this unbalanced and biased set of topics already an expression of a certain left-wing, feminist privilege drawing its own conclusions before any discussion starts? The SPLC, again, is itself a hate group, known for its unwarranted attacks on patriotic people.

Charles, the Institute “Experts” appear to be the typical Leftist academic types (https://www.malesupremacism.org/fellows/). These types are the ones who have institutionalized ideas like “critical race theory” throughout the higher education system. Their students become disciples, buy and read their books and papers, and in turn spread this garbage to the “children of the masses.” Soros groups and organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center provide the funding. The time has come to take back the schools, bottom up and top down.
[Later in the day is Social Hour/Open Discussion on “The Emotional Toll of Researching Supremacist Movements.”]
Yes, I can only guess the burden they carry. The emotional toll is so immense it manifests by marching in the streets, tearing down historical statues, pushing down old people that get in their way, shooting at cops, the desire to wear all black clothing, repeatedly calling others RACISTS, demanding safe places on college campuses, using non gendered pronouns….
Man, (oops) Woman, I could go on and on…
That will be one hell of a happy hour!????
The timing of all these institutions doing this stuff at the same exact time strikes me as something of significance. I just don’t know why yet. My daughters private school also tried to pull this over on the parents last year and tried to claim it was coming at the request of the High School students who witnessed the George Floyd incident, they felt the need that anti-racism curriculum was suddenly necessary in the lower grades and wouldn’t you know it, luck would have it, that exact training was available for the teachers right away. I got my kid and got the hell out of there. Good news is its saving me a boat load of money.
Hi David,
Well coordinated I am sure!
Good for you. I hope your daughters flourish in their new environment. It is uplifting to hear parents are paying attention and taking action.
A-lot of this is just reinforcing the bogus “domestic terrorism” trope of the national security state. It’s totally fake, backed up with “academics” who engage in circular reasoning to see something that isn’t there. It’s mental insanity created by the intelligence agencies. The whole “nazi” thing is a cartoon. It’s just not realistic. The real nazis run the Democratic white house and the US State Dept. and the DIA and the Pentagon. All these academics are studying boogies and and probably the covert nazis themselves, recruited since Cointelpro-NewLeft turned every UC Berkeley “professor” into a shill for the National Security State – just like East Germany and the Stasi. It’s all so evil and corrupt and misleading and fake and phony and crony. It’s not even that hard to see through – but these “brofessors” are just so brainwashed.
• The title of the conference and the statement by the keynote panel are pure misinformation. “Critical Race Theory” PROMOTES institutional racism by creating negative stereotypes of Americans of European descent, distorting American history, and attempting to discredit western culture as a whole.
• “Male Supremacism” is a fake problem cooked up by radical feminists who got everything they wanted years ago and still aren’t happy.
• It is hypocritical and obscene to connect conservatism and nationalism with racism and violence, without a shred of evidence, while ignoring the spectacle of our inner cities burning for more than a year at the hands of far-left extremist groups like Antifa and BLM.
• This ongoing smear campaign is being waged by ignorant, hateful pseudo-intellectuals who are trying to make an entire demographic group scapegoats for any and every bad thing in the world, real or perceived.
• The Holocaust would not have been possible without the anti-Semitic propaganda campaign that preceded it, orchestrated by Hitler’s infamous minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels. The scope and sophistication of what’s going on now goes far beyond that and portends of much worse to come.
This is from UC Berzerkeley so what did you expect? Cal has always been at the cutting edge of crazy, nothing has changed.
No freedom loving, America loving alumni of the University of California [or pert near any “university”] should give a cent to these corrupt, anti American centers of Marxist indoctrination.
The poison is being spread through the public school system in every state. Do not dismiss these radicals – they have a GOAL and a PLAN to accomplish it. People must WAKE UP. Critical Race Theory came out of the Stanford Law School in the late 1980’s. It is a theory of reverse racism used in programs like the 1619 Project that claims that all accomplishments in America are fruits of a poisonous tree and therefore INVALID:

P.S. Optional reading for those so inclined. Critical “Race” Theory says that race is a social construct and not natural biological. Critical Theory has Marxist roots: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/critical-theory/
