California Becomes First State to Allow Illegal Aliens Taxpayer-Funded Health Insurance

California just achieved another first, but it may not be something to crow about. California became the first state to provide taxpayer-funded health coverage to illegal aliens age 19 to 25.
Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law on Tuesday allowing illegal aliens between the ages of 19 and 25 coverage under Medi-Cal, California’s health insurance program for the poor, disabled, and now for those living in the country and state illegally.
State officials estimate about 90,000 additional people will quality at a cost of $98 million per year, the AP reported.
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced his plan in January to bring back the Affordable Care Act for Californians — Obama mandated health care — as well as cover the health care of young illegal aliens. “Newsom’s plan to reinstate the individual mandate to force healthy people to buy the state health insurance, is one way to fund this,” California Globe reported. The individual mandate imposes a hefty tax on those who choose not to buy health insurance.
Newsom Tweeted: “We’re fighting for healthcare for all. We’re demanding clean air and water. We’re defending reproductive freedom. And we’re protecting our vulnerable communities. No matter what Trump’s Administration does.”

Despite that 93 percent of Californians have health insurance, the California Legislature approved the tax to California citizens who do not buy health insurance. This penalty revenue will be used to fund health insurance subsidies to encourage more people to purchase health insurance, and to provide healthcare to illegal immigrants.
Passage of SB78 creates the “Individual Mandate” to require Californians to purchase health insurance, and imposes a fine for failure to do so.
The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office warned this could indirectly result in increased state costs in Medi‑Cal, and/or if the individual mandate actually succeeds in more Californians signed up for state health insurance, fewer Californians will pay the penalty tax resulting in less money.
“Universal health care’s a right, and we’re delivering it — regardless of immigration status — to everyone up to the age of 26, and we’re gonna get the rest of that done, mark my words,” Gov. Newsom said recently.
President Donald Trump criticized California for providing health insurance to illegal aliens, at the White House last week.
When asked by a reporter why it’s so important that the citizenship question be asked on the census, President Trump replied:
“I think it’s very important — to find out if somebody is a citizen as opposed to an illegal? I think there’s a big difference, to me, between being a citizen of the United States and being an illegal. And, you know, the Democrats want to treat the illegals, with healthcare and with other things, better than they treat the citizens of our country.
If you look at a coal miner that has black lung disease, you’re talking about people that get treated better than the coal miner. And these people got sick working for the United States. And we treated people that just walked in better.
If you look at what they’re doing in California, how they’re treating people, they don’t treat their people as well as they treat illegal immigrants. So at what point does it stop? It’s crazy what they’re doing. It’s crazy. And it’s mean, and it’s very unfair to our citizens. And we’re going to stop it, but we may need an election to stop it, and we may need to get back the House.”
At a news conference last week celebrating the signing of his first state budget, Gov. Newsom joked about the controversy the Medi-Cal expansion to illegal aliens is generating with conservatives, the Sacramento Bee reported. “To my friends at Fox News, I know we’re keeping you in business,” he said. He promised to continue expanding health coverage to more undocumented people in future years. “Universal health care is a right regardless of immigration status,” Newsom said. “I’m going to get the rest of that done, mark my words, and make progress next year and the year after that.”

They have some nerve thinking Americans are happy with paying for illegal invaders health care! Trump is right on with his comments, hope he can do something about it than just talk. Also, have you ever thought how there are millions of illegals who have worked for years and have had taxes taken out of their checks but have never done taxes so all that money has been given to the government and SSI and the IRS. They never get any of that back because they are afraid to try in fear they will be deported. So they pay to work. Over and and over and over. Every paycheck.

I strongly disagree with this. I’m an American and I can’t afford health insurance for me nor my family. I have Polycythemia vera (blood disorder) and I haven’t had a treatment in months due to the fact my insurance expired and I didn’t qualify for renewal. My treatments are expensive. Please tell me how this is right/fair. What is he thinking and who is paying for all this????????????

I agree I am currently retired and paying for my own health insurance. Now I’m battling lung cancer with no help from the government. How can anyone think this is fair. Thank God I don’t live in California.
