Fake News: ‘Poll’ Claims 80% of Californians Support Stricter Rules to Allow Businesses to Re-open Sooner

Poll’s false narrative is to support Gov. Gavin Newsom’s lockdown

By Katy Grimes, September 6, 2020 2:27 am

A recent poll conducted by the California Health Care Foundation, whose mission is “strengthening Medi-Cal,” claims that “19% of Californians — nearly one-in-five — personally knew someone who died of COVID-19.”

Anecdotally, everyone California Globe has asked and continues to regularly ask reports they do not know of even one death from COVID. The only death reported to California Globe was an elderly friend belonging to a group of golfers, who was wheelchair bound and quite ill.

The poll also claims “69% of Californians agree the state should impose stricter shelter-in-place rules.”

This “poll” of 1,209 people online, also claims 85% of Californians support stricter shelter-in-place rules “if those rules would prevent deaths.”

Shelter-in-place rules have caused more hardship, suicides and death, and lengthened the virus – by design.

Here is a poll question: “Would you support stricter rules if those rules allowed businesses or schools to reopen sooner?”

Think about this question and it’s false narrative – This false narrative isn’t real but is characterized as if it is by creating the false story that only if we hunker down, mask-up and stay home longer, businesses will be able to re-open.

Why do we need stricter shelter-in-place rules in order for businesses to re-open sooner? The answer is that we don’t.

What’s the correlation between more forced sheltering-in-place and businesses awaiting the governor’s approval to re-open? There is none.

Why not just allow businesses and schools to re-open?

The answer in the poll is stupefying: Overall, 80% of Californians “strongly” or “somewhat” support stricter rules if it allows businesses to reopen sooner. “Eighty-eight percent of Black Californians support stricter rules under this circumstance, along with 83% of Asian residents, 84% of Latinx residents, and 75% of white residents.”

The other fake poll question is the same but addresses re-opening schools – with the same results: “72% of Californians support stricter rules if it would mean schools reopen sooner.”

There was no mention of the stranglehold the California Teachers Association and the California Federation of Teachers labor unions has on preventing the schools from re-opening. Look at their websites for confirmation.

Pay attention to the wording in these poll questions. The only answer acceptable to the pollsters is “yes, I support stricter shelter-in-place rules if it means businesses and schools re-open sooner,” because of how the questions were worded.

This poll and the bogus questions was solely designed to support Gov. Newsom’s arbitrary and erratic statewide lockdown rules… for two more months, at least until the Nov. 3rd election.

The actual goal of blue states still in lockdown is to harm the reelection chances of President Trump by keeping the economies in those states in such bad shape, Trump will be blamed.

Democrat-run states New York, New Jersey, California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, Oregon, Michigan, North Carolina, are still essentially in lockdown. These governors are destroying the livelihoods of the bar and restaurant owners, hair salon and barber shop owners and their stylists, entire medical practices, telling them there will be no re-opening until sometime in 2021.

However, even real science is a stubborn thing.

RedState recently reported:

Even CDC director Robert Redfield admitted that the state lockdowns are killing at least two times the number of Americans as COVID-19:

“We’re seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from Covid. We’re seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose, that are above excess, than we had as background, than we are seeing deaths from Covid.”

At worst, we’re dealing with a virus no more deadly than a severe seasonal flu.

Wrecking the entire U.S. economy is no small thing. It was bound to bring down a mountain of hardship and misery on the heads of the American people and drive many to an early grave.

The fake news poll

Media unsurprisingly ran stories about this “poll,” but completely ignored that the Center for Disease Control quietly updated COVID-19 numbers recently, now reporting only 9,210 Americans actually died from COVID-19 alone.

Gov. Gavin Newsom is basing his lockdown decisions on “positive” COVID tests, which are increasing as the state tests more and more every day. However, as one medical professional recently explained to California Globe, “The ‘yes/no’ results from Covid-19 tests appear to be misleading, as they don’t contain the testing threshold, so they can’t be ‘mined’ for what’s important and what isn’t. That is, they’re over-sensitive.”

The New York Times recently reported on this very issue:

“Some of the nation’s leading public health experts are raising a new concern in the endless debate over coronavirus testing in the United States: The standard tests are diagnosing huge numbers of people who may be carrying relatively insignificant amounts of the virus.”

“Most of these people are not likely to be contagious, and identifying them may contribute to bottlenecks that prevent those who are contagious from being found in time.”

The Boston Globe recently reported that the NFL had 77 positive COVID-19 tests from 11 teams re-examined by a New Jersey lab after false positives, and all those tests came back negative.

All of this is to say the new “poll” from the self-serving California Health Care Foundation, which is in the business of growing Medi-Cal, is to support Gov. Gavin Newsom’s lockdown. That’s it.

And the media ran with it, without question, as they have for most of this overblown pandemic.

If these Democrat governors really cared about the spread of COVID-19, they would have immediately focused most of their resources on keeping our elderly and nursing home patients safe instead. But that’s not what this poll is about.

  1. Thanks again, Katy Grimes, for being the one in a million (or so) who would even report on the continuing malevolent trickery of the very people who are supposed to be looking out for us. What’s more, their whole reason for being and steady paychecks depend on the likes of us, the “rabble.”
Meanwhile, our eyes and ears and minds tell most of us every day that we were beyond done with these lies and restrictions a L-O-N-G time ago, certainly by the end of April. Sure, there are plenty of people we may still see wedded to their masks and religiously following every daily-issued edict and believing a lot of falsehoods, but is it MOST PEOPLE in this state? I say no. So what do you think the attitude about it probably is NOW, in the first week of September, some five months after that fed-up point?
We don’t need a poll to tell us it’s NOT GOOD.

  2. Stronger rules don’t open businesses, they close them- permanently.

Fake numbers and fake polls go hand in hand. I know a nurse at Children’s Hospital who was told ALL deaths of unknown cause are to be reported as Covid.

    1. CW: I absolutely believe that all deaths whose cause is unknown were reported as COVID. For one thing there is a financial incentive to do it, aside from any other, perhaps more sinister, motive.

  3. I’m deeply grateful for your diligent reporting on this, Katy. The massive incidence of false positive COVID tests due to overly sensitive testing standards, the phoneY baloney results-driven polling, the cover-up of the greater number of deaths caused by the lock-down vs. deaths caused by COVID itself, and the media’s failure to differentiate between deaths caused exclusively by COVID vs. those in which COVID was just one of sometimes multiple co-morbitities, are each major news stories in themselves.

Your story should be on the front page of every newspaper and news website in America.

  4. The left always floats these stories to condition the public before they issue some sort of edict. I predict really harsh rules coming out next week.

      1. This is a pattern that I have noticed for years. Float a few little stories or polls to tell the people what to think. Then issue a campaign, law or some other type of edict claiming massive public support. CS Lewis illustrates this in the book That Hideous Strength. The character Mark Studdock ( a sociologist) writes news stories to condition the public to accept (or support) the most outrageous measures without a whimper.

        1. Oh yes, like the phony polls that supposedly show an overwhelming majority of the public want the homeless to be housed before a tax measure to “build homeless housing” shows up on the ballot.
I think I will take a look at C.S. Lewis’ “That Hideous Strength.”

          1. This is an excellent read. This is the last part of the Space Trilogy and while you can read it by itself parts of it will make more sense if you read the first two before That Hideous Strength.

  5. Comrades

    No one wants to be wrong…..career ender….so…..tax, regulate and fine…..and quarantine….and lockdown…..and Trump’s fault

  6. “The actual goal of blue states still in lockdown is to harm the reelection chances of President Trump by keeping the economies in those states in such bad shape, Trump will be blamed.”

There it is – the crux of the matter….

SO important that it needs to be called out of the rest of the excellent article.

  7. Public schools will remain closed until EVERYONE is vaccinated—maybe by spring of 2021–or until November 4 if Biden is elected.
