Rep. Swalwell Suspends Campaign for CA Governor Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Eric Swalwell just announced he is suspending his campaign for California Governor, following the stunning development that a “Former staffer says Rep. Eric Swalwell, candidate for California governor, sexually assaulted her,” in a bombshell report by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Swalwell’s alleged exploits have rocked California’s Democratic establishment just weeks before the June primary, as he and Democrats are facing an avalanche of political fallout.
“I am suspending my campaign for Governor. To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s,” Swalwell posted to X late Sunday.

The sexual assault allegations rocked media Friday. By Saturday, Steve Hilton, also a candidate for California Governor, posted to X that he received a message that Swalwell is dropping out.

The replies to Swalwell’s announcement were appropriately harsh:
- Translation: I did some things, got caught, Democrats finished me off, and now I’m asking for sympathy on the way out. No. You don’t get to be the victim of a fire you started.
- He will claim he is a sex addict and it is a disease so it “isn’t really his fault” then claim treatment and try to mount a comeback in a few years or try to do a podcast or something.
- I can’t get over the cool temerity of it all; that at the time he was vilifying then judge Cavanaugh, he already had all these skeletons in his cupboard? I won’t be mad at him if Justice Cavanaugh is rubbing his hands together in glee right now.
There was this ominous warning:
- He’s just doing as he’s told. Just like Cuomo and Spitzer who, somehow, were seen as rehabilitated. He’ll be back

As one of his constituents I demand he resign immediately. He has not lived in this district for a number of years. He abused not only his staffers but campaign finance laws.
Not only has his uncontrollable gas done damage to the innocent bystanders but he damaged many lives especially the innocent January 6th protesters that were caught up the FBI set up! He had a lead role in the J6 Congressional investigation.

Swalwell’s exit from the governor’s race should not be the end of the story, Speaker Mike Johnson needs to launch an ethics inquiry this week to remove him from his congressional seat. If Speaker Johnson does his job and finds Swalwell guilty then it’ll come down to a vote in the House which will force Democrats to defend an alleged sexual assault abuser. If Johnson takes no action it’ll prove that he never should have been Speaker in the first place and guarantee that Republicans lose the House of Representatives later this year.
How did Swalwell ever rise to prominence? Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi protected him when his career should have first ended- after the affair with a Chinese spy. And then Pelosi used him as an attack dog on Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump, and ICE.
This is the second major snafu by Pelosi. Her clumsy and too late removal of Biden cost the Democrats the House, Senate and Presidency.
California Post reported that lefty casino and timeshare billionaire Stephen Cloobeck, who once called Swalwell his “little brother” and poured over $1 million into his flailing campaign for California governor, has cut all ties and kicked Swallwell out of his luxurious $26 million Beverly Hills mansion. “I am no longer supporting Eric,” Cloobeck told The Post in an exclusive interview. “F—ing tell everyone I’m a libertarian. F— you, Democrat Party. I’m a libertarian now.”
Cloobeck, who is Jewish, is a major Democratic donor. He contributed $1 million to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, donated $100,000 to Majority PAC in 2011, and was Nevada’s top Democratic donor for several years He spent $1 million to rename McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas to Harry Reid International Airport. Politically, he launched a Democratic campaign for California governor in 2024 but withdrew in November 2025, endorsing Eric Swalwell. He is engaged to Adva Lavie an Israeli model and an Only Fans content creator who also uses the names Mia Ventura, Shoshana, and Shana. Their wedding is facing uncertainty due to her pending criminal trial on charges of grand theft, burglary, and running “honey traps” targeting wealthy men.

One Fed Up Cali Girl, I don’t think that Eric will be answering any emails; for a little while anyway. I would like to see him turn on the power brokers in the Democrat Party who decided that they don’t want him to be governor and decided to throw him under the bus. Not to diminish what Eric is accused of doing, but there’s a lot of that kind of thing going on in D.C. seems to me….and no one is reporting it? No one knew this was going on? One of his accusers waited 8 years to report the abuse and possible crime? Reminds me of what the Democrats tried to do to Kavanaugh at his SCOTUS hearing – make an accusation of possible criminal behavior and see if it sticks. Even if it doesn’t stick, they have created doubt. Christine Blasey Ford was found by one of Anna Eshoo’s staffers. I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now….for anyone……even if he/she may deserve it, like Eric.
