First it was Salongate when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was caught on security cameras visiting a San Francisco hair salon for a wash and blow-out last year, despite Gov. Gavin Newsom’s business lockdown orders, and local ordinances specifically ordering hair and nail salons closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom still has not lived down being caught mask-less attending a birthday dinner in November at the famed Michelin-starred restaurant, The French Laundry in Yountville, while he locked the state down, ordered businesses and schools closed, social distancing and masks were mandated, California Globe reported.
More recently, former President Barack Obama threw himself a huge 60th birthday bash at his Martha’s Vineyard estate, entertaining 300-400 guests, despite haranguing Americans to mask-up, get the vaccine and stay away from large events. The Daily Mail reported 74 people on Martha’s Vineyard tested positive for COVID-19 following the former President’s bash, which some have nicknamed “the Obama variant.”
Now, a viral video was shared thousands of times over the weekend of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at a large Napa Valley Democrat fundraiser. Only the servers and waiters were wearing masks.
The New York Post reported:
“A clip of the close-quartered California fundraiser was posted on Facebook by Democratic Party donor and winemaker Kathryn Walt Hall — and promptly blasted out on Twitter.”
“The footage appeared to show dozens of unmasked people seated elbow to elbow at long luncheon tables as Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave a speech and masked waiters ambled between the listeners.”

Guests wined and dined while Pelosi spoke. They sat mask-less at long tables close to each other as masked waiters served them.
“Speaker Pelosi wants to lock you down again while she wines and dines with her political donors. It’s utter hypocrisy,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy Tweeted.

The replies to Vogel’s tweet and video may have been worth the $100 to $29,000 contribution to the event:
“This is perfectly put. This whole COVID Era has been elites telling us commoners what to do as they do the opposite. Dropping off my recall vote for Newsom tomorrow.”
“They’re all sophisticated, so it’s OK.”
“In case people weren’t already aware that these politicians are in this game for themselves and that’s it. Love the irony of her talking about young people.”
Many addressed the event of “rich white elites:”
“I see the only diversity is amongst the wait staff.”
“Not a lot of diversity in that crowd who aren’t part of the staff. Not very woke of her.”
“All the servants fully masked,” tweeted journalist Glenn Greenwald. “The almost-entirely old, white, rich crowd of DCCC donors free to go mask-less as they’re served.”
Summing up the “super-spreader” event perfectly was Jesse Kelly:
“None of the people telling you to worry about coronavirus are actually worried about coronavirus.”

Hypocritical politicians behaving badly is nothing new. But this latest “Let them eat cake” moment by Nancy Pelosi is not helping the Democrats’ cause.
These Tweets exemplify this:
“But they will continue to harass, shame & restrict you for not following “the rules”. We have reached a new low here my friends.”
“If this were the other way around we would know who all of those people are within about 10 minutes. They would be attacked and doxed.”
“The beauty shop, the wine tasting, but I guess like the beauty shop, the winery tricked her.”
“I see scenes like this and wonder if mask wearing will become a marker of servant/lower class status.”
“You couldn’t get a better visual representation of the class division in this country.”
It is evident that this crowd isn’t that concerned with COVID, but are interested in returning to life before lockdowns, masks and social distancing.
