FBI Director Kash Patel announced Thursday that agents from the FBI’s Los Angeles field office executed 30 pre-dawn raids, arresting 43 alleged members and associates of the Mexican Mafia — the notorious prison gang known as “La Eme” or the “gang of gangs.”
In his announcement on X, Director Patel laid out the scope of the operation:
“OPERATION GANGSTER’S PARADISE:
@FBILosAngeles executed 30 pre-dawn raids arresting 30 alleged members of the Mexican Mafia in Southern California.
Alleged murderers, drug dealers, and racketeers all taken down.
This group is also known as ‘La Eme,’ the ‘gang of gangs,’ known to control nearly every Hispanic street gang in the California region.
Well done to our agents, great partners and teams who executed brilliantly.
This @FBI continues to break violent gang operations all over the country.”

Fox News reported the full scale of the operation: the 43 alleged gangsters now face 66 felony counts including drug dealing, kidnapping, assault, extortion, and murder. Correspondent William La Jeunesse noted that despite many members operating on the streets, they continue to report to leaders who remain behind bars — underscoring La Eme’s ruthless control.
The raids targeted high-level figures directing narcotics trafficking, extortion, and violence across Southern California. Operations focused on residences in Lakewood (Los Angeles County), as well as Anaheim and Santa Ana (Orange County).
In addition to the arrests, agents seized 25 firearms, 8.8 pounds of fentanyl, 120 pounds of methamphetamine, 2 pounds of heroin, 6.6 pounds of cocaine, more than 5,000 fentanyl pills, and more than $30,000 in cash.

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli emphasized the gang’s reach:
“We’ve indicted forty members and associates of the Mexican Mafia, who is the most powerful, prolific gang that operates out of state prisons. They control and operate all the Hispanic street gangs out in the neighborhoods.”
La Eme’s iron grip extends to nearly every Hispanic street gang in the state, turning neighborhoods into battlegrounds for drug trafficking, extortion, and murder. Operating from behind bars, its leaders issue orders through visits, phone calls, and smuggled messages.
The raids highlight the stark contrast between aggressive federal enforcement under the Trump administration and California’s sanctuary policies and soft-on-crime approach that have long shielded criminal enterprises. For years, Democrat-led Sacramento has prioritized illegal immigrants over public safety, enacted catch-and-release policies, and resisted cooperation with federal immigration and law enforcement authorities — creating safe havens for gangs like La Eme to flourish while innocent Californians bear the cost and live in fear.
As reported by California Globe: ” Sanctuary jurisdictions ignored 17,864 ICE detainers on criminal aliens in 2025. DHS flagged California for potentially releasing 33,179 criminal aliens from state jails — murderers, sex offenders, traffickers — individuals with active charges or convictions on record. And because local governments refuse to hand off at the jail door, ICE street arrests have surged fivefold in Northern California. That is not compassionate policy. That is operational chaos wearing a humanitarian disguise.”
Despite repeated warnings and federal takedowns, state and local leaders have treated these organizations with kid gloves, often viewing aggressive policing as the real problem rather than the gangsters terrorizing communities. Thursday’s operation proves what decisive federal action looks like when unhindered by sanctuary rules and progressive prosecutors who tie the hands of law enforcement..

Excellent. This is HUGE.
Another prime example that California Democrats prioritize criminals and illegal aliens over law-abiding, legal citizens of California…
VOTE THEM OUT – change the narrative and vote 100% Republican this June and again in November…

Agreed. 100% Republican from here on out. The Democraps have trashed this state.
Newsom and legislative Democrats must be going apoplectic over the arrests of their constituents? California Democrat Attorney General Rob Bonta will likely claim that the arrests were racist, that their rights were violated and that he’ll do everything he can to get them freed?
This is in response to eme’ crackdown..There needs to be New Gang Injunction’s against Gang Member House’s👹 which are spreading like Wildfire throughout the whole State of California 🤔 These Gang Member House’s are Terrorizing California Communities and steps should be taken to ban these Gang Member’s👹 from setting up shop🤔 I live in the La Puente area home of the eme’ and I noticed alot of people are getting Murdered👹 here resulting in way too many unsolved Cold 🥶 Case’s that have never been solved up to date..City of Industry Sheriff’s are riddled🤔 with this problem in this part of L.A.County.
