Newsom’s rebranding podcast isn’t going so well

What is the purpose of a podcast but to delve deeply into issues, expose problems and consider solutions? Or is it to entertain?

Grok says:

“it’s a way to share ideas, stories, or information through audio episodes that people can listen to on-demand.

Some use it to entertain, like with comedy or storytelling; others educate, diving into topics like science, history, or self-improvement. Businesses might use podcasts to build a brand or connect with customers.

The flexibility is the point: it’s a medium that bends to whatever the host—or the listeners—want it to be.”

What is the purpose of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s cringy podcast? We ask because he’s all over the place ideologically and politically. It’s awkward at best, and insidious and dishonest. Even The New Yorker says Newsom’s podcast is “embarrassing” and posted an empty suit as the graphic image. “This is a soft launch for a Presidential run in 2028,” The New Yorker said. “With his eyes presumably on that prize, Newsom is distancing himself as much as possible from the progressive wing of his party, and from any unpopular positions that his political allies might have adopted in the past decade.”

Newsom claims he aims to facilitate open and honest conversations with a diverse range of guests including prominent MAGA figures, and those he disagrees with politically, as well as individuals he admires.

In his first podcast, Newsom insisted to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, “Not one person ever in my office has ever used the word Latinx.”

As the Daily Caller points out, Newsom used the word many times:

Newsom wrote on X in July 2020 that the virus “disproportionately impacts the Latinx community,” stating that his administration made $52 million available to “increase testing and contact tracing.” He also wrote in an April 2019 post on X that 31% of “Latinx” children lived in poverty.

When he spoke with Hispanic activist and singer Becky G, his official X account statedthat he “teamed up with [a] global Latinx superstar” to urge members of her community to vote in an Oct. 28, 2020, post.

But, as the Globe said last month, “Newsom is trying to distance himself from himself.” He’s attempting to rebrand himself as a likable moderate gent. The problem is, he’s not likable, his lengthy record of leftist politics is undeniable, and he is not a man of honor.

Grok AI also acknowledges what we all know:

“The podcast also serves a personal political purpose: it’s widely seen as a strategic move to rebrand Newsom, positioning him as a pragmatic, common-sense Democrat with crossover appeal, potentially for a 2028 presidential run or a larger post-gubernatorial role.”

During his podcasts with Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon, two very unlikely guests, Newsom agreed that he thinks that it was “deeply unfair” to have trans athletes competing against women in sports. But after the podcast, Newsom did nothing about biological males who identify as female competing against female athletes.

Further in the interview, Newsom even asked Kirk for advice for Democrats, and admitted that his own son was drawn more to the GOP now, the Globe reported. Republicans roasted Newsom for his performance, and Democrats blasted Newsom for his reversal on trans rights.

As the Globe reported Thursday, the Trump Administration Department of Education announced they are investigating the California Department of Education over the odious new law that prohibits school districts from notifying parents if their kids are “gender” transitioning while at school. Newsom signed that bill into law in July after contentious hearings and Assembly and Senate votes. U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said, “It is not only immoral but also potentially in contradiction with federal law for California schools to hide crucial information about a student’s wellbeing from parents and guardians.”

Gov. Newsom and Democrats knew when they pushed the bill through that this bill is not just morally wrong, they knew it is legally wrong as well, and that it violates existing laws. But Newsom signed it into law anyway.

So Newsom claiming to Charlie Kirk that it was “deeply unfair” to have trans athletes competing against women in sports is just more blather from the governor. And the evidence that Gavin Newsom will pattern his conversation to whomever he is speaking came with his appearance on Bill Maher’s show Friday, as his rebranding as a moderate fell apart.

Bill Maher called out Newsom for signing the bill that orders schools to keep parents in the dark if their child changes his or her gender identity while at school.

“So what do you say to people who say… ‘Governor, you were the poster boy for a lot of this [woke] stuff?’” Maher asked, clearly poking the bear. “I see today the Trump administration talked about the fact that California had a rule that schools cannot be required to notify parents if their kids in school have changed their gender, their pronouns. That’s the kind of thing—even though it doesn’t affect a lot of people—that makes a lot of people go, ‘Well, you know what? That’s the party without common sense,’” Maher said.

Newsom tried to pivot, claiming that the issue is about protecting students: “I just disagree with that. I mean, the law was you would be fired, a teacher would be fired if a teacher did not report or snitch on a kid talking about their gender identity. I just think that was wrong. I think teachers should teach. I don’t think they should be required to turn in kids.”

Maher wasn’t buying Newsom’s BS: “Turning in? We’re talking about their parents. How can you snitch?”

The left claims that notifying parents of such a monumental event is a “forced outing” of the child, rather than what’s obvious to most – if the child is already “out” at school, then this is not an actual “outing” and parents need to be notified.

Without parental notification and involvement, the opportunity for predatory abuse of the child is wide open – and is something Newsom also will not address.

As weird as pretending the bill was about protecting students was Newsom calling out “toxic” Democrats to Maher.

Pot, meet kettle.

According to a recently released Capitol Weekly poll, Governor Gavin Newsom’s new podcast, “This is Gavin Newsom” found 13% of voters now have an improved perception of the Governor, with a huge 26% saying that it harmed their perception of Newsom, the Globe recently reported.

And yet only days after the poll showed that his new podcast bombed, Gavin Newsom told Bill Maher “the Democratic brand is toxic right,” because of the cancel culture the left has embraced.

So now Gov. Newsom isn’t a fan of cancel culture? This is rich coming from the governor who signed a bill into law in 2022 to “cancel” the medical licenses of doctors who “spread misinformation” about Covid.

In May, the Globe reported that New Hampshire governor Chris Sununu said that there are two governors who have served during his own eight-year term who “really nobody liked” – former New York governor Andrew Cuomo and California governor Gavin Newsom, National Review reported. Their title, says it all:

‘Just a Prick’: Sununu Says Newsom among Few Governors That ‘Really Nobody Liked’

But we already knew this about Gavin Newsom. The Globe reported “Gov. Gavin Newsom Approval Ratings Have Sunk to an All-Time Low; ‘Hated by Younger People.’”

The only way Gavin Newsom made it this far in politics is because California is a one-party, Democrat supermajority state. The two-party system the nation embraces is kryptonite to a coddled politician like Newsom.

He talks, and talks, and talks and people everywhere cringe.

Keep talking Governor.

  1. There is a theory of advertising as well as politics that simply being in the news cycle is good, and compared to the other Democrat loudmouths like Jasmine Crockett, Raskin, Schumer, or Hakeem Jeffries, Newsom has carved out a more moderate space. But if the Democrat primary voters are represented by the crazies in front of Tesla dealerships or those at Bernie/AOC rallies, then Newsom won’t make it to the convention, BECAUSE he is a moderate. The Democrat Party is simply NOT moderate. Newsom will end up like Kamala, defending indefensible policies forced during COVID, the environment, free speech, trans sports, crime and the economy.

  2. Yes, it’s jaw-dropping for sure that the Worst Governor Ever (Gavin Newsom) has the astounding chutzpah to record and release these cringy, shameless, and amazingly mock-able podcasts.
And by the way, has there ever been another U.S. governor EVER who has added insult to injury the way Gavin Newsom has? The only thing more scream-worthy than Gov Gavin Newsom’s cruel, sadistic, self-serving, pompous and puffed-up torture of Californians for six and half years (and actually beyond) is this recent attempt to position himself as a moderate and reasonable Democrat. I mean, come ON.
    Seriously, Gavin?
But never mind, the man has an easily-accessible Record of Shame. He and his Flying Monkeys can TRY to scrub the internet of his Multi-Volume Record of Shame but I doubt they will succeed. And anyway, it looks as though the whole country is on to him already, except for maybe that very small — and possibly mythical —- percentage of Americans who still think Elvis is alive.
So good luck to you Gavin! And enjoy your liquor!

  3. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

  4. If Newsom were to successfully rebrand himself, he would have to generate a brand that people actually want. In Newsoms case his current brand will always overshadow whatever he is attempting to morph into. Prison is actually in Newsoms future for the illegal activities that he has participated in. He will be given up by someone attempting to save their skin that is hire up in the illegal food chain that is attempting to bring this state and nation down. By the Grace of God this whole scheme of intended destruction is being exposed and brought down. Newsom was groomed to simply play his part in the plan.

  5. Good God! most of us have encountered individuals that are so egotistical and full of themselves they make you want to vomit. I think it’s slightly different with Newsom. His narcissism is full-blown mental illness. No sane person would deny countless words and actions despite the fact that they are all on the public record. Newsom is dangerous and derangedhttps://californiaglobe.com/fl/gavin-newsom-talks-and-people-everywhere-cringe/.

  6. The fact that any person who identifies themselves as a Republican would give him one minute of their time on his podcast is mind boggling. It’s obvious what Newsom’s intentions are. Any Republican who has been on his podcast is a disgrace.

  7. Gaslighting his way to the top! The buck stops here! His fire-trail stops here!
Newsom is the deadwood, his 30 year political career are the matches and his new cringe podcast is the gasoline that will hopefully put his presidential aspirations to rest.

Sorry Gov Gav but nothing you can say can erase your abysmal record of running this state into the ground! Your record and only your record can speak for you!

First he wrecked San Francisco then California, the Nation will not be part of his abysmal record! He can’t gaslight his way to the White House!

The younger generation despises him because they have been devastated by his reckless policies Some will never recoup their educational losses or job losses or the potential loss of home ownership!

  8. Maybe the next conservative who goes on Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s cringy podcast should ask him about all the Democrat grift and graft corruption that Katy Grimes and Richie Greenberg detailed in their recent article “Greenberg & Grimes: The Left’s Nonprofit Shadow Campaign Fund?”

  9. Here is my analogy. Imagine AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 🥹) standing there, and attempting to convince you that she is a certified genius!! 😅 😂 🤣 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
