69-Year-Old Escondido Army Vet Killed over Public Display of Love of Trump and America
‘To kill an elderly man over his political beliefs is not only heartbreaking, it is un-American to its core’

Army veteran and devoted Trump supporter Kerry Sheron died following a brutal attack outside his Escondito home last week.
Kerry Shannon was attacked and died because he posted numerous American flags and Donald Trump posters outside of his home.
“It is with shattered hearts that we share that Kerry passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026 surrounded by family and love after suffering a brutal and unprovoked attack outside his home in Escondido, California,” Kerry Sharon’s gofundme page reads.
“Kerry was a proud U.S. Army veteran known in the community for proudly displaying American flags and patriotic decorations outside his home. His loss has devastated our family beyond words.”
“Sheron, 69, was left in critical condition on Wednesday after being beaten outside his Escondido home that is decorated in pro-Trump flags and signs,” Fox5SanDiego reported. A bystander who tried to help was also injured in that attack. A 32-year-old man was found nearby and arrested.”
“Maria Sheron confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI that her husband died from his injuries Sunday night. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office notified Escondido Police when he died on Sunday and also confirmed his identity.”
“I feel a lot of pain in my heart,” she said.
Fox5SanDiego said suspect Thomas Butler, was previously booked into the Vista Detention Facility on attempted murder charges.
Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones (R-San Diego) has released the following statement on the passing of Army veteran Kerry Sheron, a resident of Escondido who died Sunday from injuries sustained in a brutal attack outside his home:
“Last week, a member of our community was brutally attacked outside his home in Escondido. On Sunday, he succumbed to the injuries sustained during that assault, and his life came to a tragic end that has shaken our community and left us trying to make sense of this truly senseless tragedy.
Kerry Sheron was our neighbor. He was a family man who served his country in the U.S. Army, and he was a man of strong belief and conviction. He believed in the First Amendment and its guarantees of free speech. He decorated his home with flags and signs that showed his support for freedom, patriotism, and our president. And for that, he was ruthlessly murdered. This is beyond the pale, and I am beyond saddened that this could occur anywhere, much less right here in our own community.
What happened to Kerry Sheron is unconscionable. It was callous and it was evil. To kill an elderly man over his political beliefs is not only heartbreaking, it is un-American to its core. It is an assault on the values this country was built on, and it does not represent the values of the good people of Escondido.
No American should be killed for the signs in their yard or the flags on their porch. Political violence is cowardice, and it will not be tolerated.
My heart is with Kerry’s wife Maria, and the entire Sheron family during this incredibly difficult time. I pray for them and for peace in our community, and I pray that the perpetrator of this heinous crime is met by our justice system with swift and appropriate punishment.”

Our hearts are with Kerry’s family as well. His death is beyond tragic – but it’s more evidence of the fierce violence of the left on patriots.

The horrific incident shows once again that the Democrat left is demonically violent and deranged. The suspect Thomas Butler needs to be charged with a hate crime, elder abuse, and criminal homicide. He needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He and his wretched soul have a lot to account for.
