Gov. & Mrs. Newsom Vacay in Italy; Sign New ‘Climate Partnership’ in Bologna

I suspect tourism because the governor’s press statement is laughable

By Katy Grimes, May 17, 2024 11:29 am

Thursday California Governor Gavin Newsom was in Rome at a Climate Change summit and addressed Pope Francis with talk about fires, floods, and droughts in California. Newsom claimed “California’s climate action is a model for governments around the world.”

Today the governor and First Partner, Mrs. Newsom, traveled north to Bologna, ostensibly to sign a “Climate Partnership” with Bologna, a city smaller than Sacramento, California with 400,000 residents. The entire Emilia-Romagna region has about 1,000,000 residents.

I suspect Mr. and Mrs. Newsom are really in Bologna as tourists to enjoy the Etruscan culture, and dine on food made famous in California by Biba Caggiano, the Italian-American restaurateur, prolific cookbook author, and television chef.

I suspect tourism because the governor’s press statement is laughable:

“In an increasingly hotter and drier world, the partnership we’re forming today will accelerate efforts to protect communities across the world – all while harnessing the innovative spirit necessary to move away from fossil fuels.”

The Globe notes that “Communities across the world experiencing warmer temperatures” are also growing more crops. But emerging countries cannot emerge without fossil fuels. They regularly plead for more oil and gas, not less.

The Newsom press statement continues:

On the one year anniversary of the worst floods in the region’s history, Governor Gavin Newsom launched a new partnership with the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Emilia-Romagna and California share similar climates and have been on the front lines of the climate crisis – including the weather whiplash of extreme drought to extreme flooding that impacted communities last year.

The Governor and Emilia-Romagna President Stefano Bonaccini spoke about the consequential elections taking place around the world this year and the vital need to deepen our partnerships on climate action.

At the Vatican, the Governor and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom had an audience with Pope Francis. Mrs. Newsom’s statement is even more ridiculous and preachy than her husband’s:

“The Pope’s leadership and voice on climate change are a reminder to global leaders of the moral obligation to address the crisis head-on.

California has and will continue to lead with partners like Emilia-Romagna because we can’t do it alone especially as vulnerable communities continue to bear the brunt of climate-related disasters.”

What’s really nice is that Gov. Newsom included all of “California’s recent climate accomplishments” in the press statement, outlining the Newsom’s travels since becoming the Governor and First Partner:

HOW WE GOT HERE: California’s world-leading climate policies have led the state to exceed its 2020 climate target six years ahead of schedule, and formed partnerships across the U.S. and around the world.

  • Earlier this month, California signed an MOU with Gyeonggi Province, South Korea – the center of the country’s economy and high-tech industry.

  • Earlier this year, Governor Newsom welcomed delegations from Sweden and Norway and renewed climate partnerships with the two governments.

  • Last year, Governor Newsom led a California delegation to China, where California signed five MOUs – with China’s National Development and Reform Commission, the provinces of Guangdong and Jiangsu, and the municipalities of Beijing, and Shanghai. The trip also resulted in a first-of-its-kind declaration by China and California to cooperate on climate action like aggressively cutting greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning away from fossil fuels, and developing clean energy.

  • In 2023,  California launched the Mediterranean Climate Action Partnership (MCAP) at COP 28, working to support members in quickly adapting to climate impacts and emergencies. E-R is a member of this partnership.

  • Also in 2023, California signed a MOU with the Chinese province of Hainan, as well as with Australia.

  • In 2022 alone, California signed Memorandums of Cooperation with Canada, New Zealand and Japan, as well as Memorandums of Understanding with China and the Netherlands, to tackle the climate crisis. The Governor also joined with Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia to recommit the region to climate action.

None of these “climate partnerships” mean anything, nor does “tackling the climate crisis,” and not one of the agreements has accomplished anything. It’s all show, and lame excuses for world travel.

The MOU with Beijing, China is mostly blather – except for this:

“The California Air Resources Board’s International Advisor will be designated as California’s liason, who will be responsible for coordination among California agencies for involvement in the cooperation. The California-China Climate Institute at the University of California Berkeley will be identified as the Secretariat.”

Someone should keep an eye on the California-China Climate Institute at the University of California Berkeley.

These are the forms of cooperation between Beijing and California:

Areas of Cooperation in Beijing/California Climate MOU.

Each of the Memorandums of Understanding with foreign countries contains this disclaimer:

“This Memorandum of Understanding is a voluntary initiative. It does not create any legally binding rights or obligations and creates no legally cognizable or enforceable rights or remedies, legal or equitable, in any forum whatsoever.”

However, keep in mind that “Adapting to climate impacts and emergencies” does mean something in that national and international “climate” leaders are trying to set up climate change as the next world pandemic – the next crisis needing world international intervention. Just remember Gov. Newsom’s recent lockdowns, mandatory masking and vaccines, school closures, business closures and the abhorrent “shelter-in-place.”

  1. Oh yeah, definitely a fabulous vacation and foodie-tour in sunny Italy in the glorious month of May. Our first clue is that our horse’s ass of a governor and his wifey first partner always dial up the preachy nonsense talk whenever they are totally full of it and hiding their real motives. Meanwhile, a pit stop in Bologna to line up with dignitaries for a photo-op and to sign some phony climate agreement can hardly be called a serious interruption of their luxurious fun. Plus, they’re A-OK with slobbering attention, so there’s that.

Must be nice, when we’re stuck here in California getting stabbed on the Metro and in the streets of our cities and knee-deep in $%#@, not to mention being terrorized and crashed into by an insane wrong-way demon-possessed driver at the crack of dawn this very morning; it never ends, does it. Thanks Gov! Enjoy!

  2. If hair-gel Hitler Newsom and his Weinstein trollop wife really cared about the climate and the environment, then they wouldn’t be jetting around the world to exotic locations on private jets? As Katy Grimes suggested, it looks like they’re on one long lavish vacation with taxpayers on the hook for paying for it?

What’s up with that weird outfit that she’s wearing in the photo? Satanists use the red, black and white color combination during their spell casting rituals with red candles symbolized by lust and desire, white candles represent curses, and black candles for spells of passion. Hmmm, given the satanic circles they travel in, her outfit may have a symbolic meaning?

    1. I was thinking the very same thing, TJ, wondering about the First Wifey’s weird garb. Glad you enlightened us about the specifics of the symbolism. I was thinking it had more of a court jester vibe, but this woman is definitely not as innocent as THAT, so I’m gonna go ahead and climb on board with your interpretation as being much more likely. Ha ha

      1. Yes, thanks for pointing out the symbolism. I am with Showand Tell, I thought she was going with the Court Jester vibe. Clowns all.

  3. Phew, glad Italy is leading the way on Global Warming…I feel better that their actions will ensure CA doesn’t have any days that are too hot or too cold.

  4. Yep, it is a vacation courtesy of the Californian taxpayer! The “Climate Partnership” is laughable and bears no weight. Newsom considers himself an emperor, so I guess we understand why he thinks it will impact the world (again laughable).

I guess we should all be so thankful that Bologna and California now have this official agreement that rising temperatures are a global threat! What would we all do without this partnership?
The only rising temperature I can see is the hot air coming out of Gavin’s (the Emperor with no clothes) mouth. Please someone put a pin in that overinflated ego and let the hot air out! Gaia and the Californians will thank you. While your at it, donate a new wardrobe to the “First Partner”.
    Grazia

    1. You’re right, CG, lots of beautiful and elegant clothes and fashion come out of Italy! Maybe they can pass along a few tips — or even gifts — to the First Wifey. 🙂

      1. Yes! I am sure Jenny would not turn down a gift from the fashion capital of Italy, especially since her CCP friends slave away at the big Italian fashion houses.
She really could use the help in that department, I think Aunt Nancy gives bad fashion advice, it shows.

        1. By the way, CG, kind of an interesting possible small-world coincidence. The ‘demon-possessed’ woman on the 405 yesterday morning (the link I posted above) apparently is a homeless woman who lived in Venice in the van she terrorized the public with. The incident began because she was screaming endlessly like a banshee the night before, apparently as she had been doing for many nights previously, and on this occasion the police showed up. Santa Monica is just north of Venice so I wonder if she might possibly be the screamer you heard when you were staying in that Santa Monica hotel not that long ago?

I’m also sort of expecting to hear that she was part of the group of arrested (then freed) UC Irvine pro-terrorism “student” protestors. ha ha)

          1. Yikes @ShowandTell. It very well could be. I think they do shift changes in the middle of the night.
It used to be that as close in proximity Venice and Santa Monica are to one another there was a difference in characters walking the streets and pathways. Not so much anymore. I think the addition of the metro stop in Santa Monica now gives the poor souls a gateway to “beach living” from skid row.
            Thank you for the link.
I use to joke with friends and family be careful on the mean streets of California as they left my home. Now, it is sadly not a joke. The freeways and streets are full of anger and desperation.

          2. “Not a joke” for sure.
“Shift changes” – ha ha – they clock in and clock out like a cartoon, sounds like.

  5. Here’s all we need to know about THIS action :
“Today the governor and First Partner, Mrs. Newsom, traveled north to Bologna, ostensibly to sign a “Climate Partnership” with Bologna, a city smaller than Sacramento, California with 400,000 residents.”

The IRONY is RICH that they are signing the “partnership” with BALOGNA… this jackwagon Governor’s entire TERM has been ONE BIG CONTINUOUS SLAB OF BALOGNA….

Nice of them to take a nice, all-expenses paid vacation to Italy on CALIFORNIA TAXPAYERS so he can burnish his “Vote for Me” (p)residential bona-fides…..

My “spidey-senses” tell me that the DNC is gonna call an audible at the line this summer and nominate this creep for the Democrat nominee… possibly with M. Obama as Veep…. (YUCK – PERISH THE THOUGHT)

  6. Bologna, Italy has long been one of the most Left cities in Italy – pure communist at one time. Newsom knows how to pick them. What a set up. I say baloney.

  7. The California State Protocol Foundation actually paid for the trip. This charitable organization is a 501c3 that its sole purpose is for folks that want to curry favor from the governor to make tax deductible donations to the Foundation and the Foundation then pays for lavish travel of the governor. This is a good example of using other people’s money to accomplish your goals while they receive a tax deduction. To be fair to Newsom this organization has been around since 2002.

    1. Good to know Hal.
Like I said those two seem to welcome free gifts😐
I guess they did not kick in formal wear for the first partner or did they?

  8. Change the climate back, Gavin.

We are freezing out here in California – the longest, wettest, gloomiest foggiest “spring” we have seen in a long time. Hope you enjoy “sunny Italy” because you climate change people have mucked it up for us in California.

Not worth paying your outrageous property taxes to get weather like you “climate change” people have now handed us. Stop mucking with Mother Nature.

  9. What could go wrong here. Injecting aerosols into the atmosphere in order to control the climate. This is terrifying. We know that the “climate change” crowd thinks that the world is overpopulated which can lead to all kinds of bad things because the end justifies the means. We have manmade viruses and now manmade climate change. I read where the rains in Dubia may have been from a science project. What I don’t understand about this one is why chose Alameda. In general, it is always cool, windy and the air is clean as it comes off the bay.
