Kamala Harris Has ‘No Chance at Winning’ CA’s 2026 Governor’s Race

More and more lawmakers are saying that she won’t win

Backlash against a possible Kamala Harris 2026 Gubernatorial run continued on Monday, with more top Republicans, including former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, saying that Harris would have no chance at winning.

While Harris has been mentioned as a possible candidate following her loss in the U.S. Presidential election to Donald Trump, a UC Berkeley poll later in the month showing that nearly half of all Californians were in support of her running for Governor boosted her to the top of all the speculative candidates in the state. Then, during the past weekend, reports came out from aides and others close to Harris that she was split between running for Governor in 2026 and running for President again in 2028.

While some Democrats, like Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) were in support of Harris, many more from across the political spectrum were against it. Pointing out that she would have little chance to win, some, like Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA), went on social media to announce it.

“Kamala Harris is now seriously considering a run for California Governor, CNN reports,” said Congressman Kiley on X on Sunday. “She says she’s “not going quietly into the night.” If she runs, California could realistically elect a Republican Governor in 2026.”

However, instead of more Democrats coming to her defense on Monday, a torrent of lawmakers came out against Harris running for Governor. They not only reiterated her slim-to-none chance of winning, but they also pointed out how poorly Harris has performed in longer campaigns. Specifically, her failed Presidential primary run in 2020 and her failed Presidential run this year were cited.

“The Democratic Party is trying to find a new direction,” said McCarthy on Fox News on Monday. “If she came back to California, she would not win the race for governor. So, I mean, she’s got to rethink. I recommend Harris take some time to rest after leaving the White House. I would step away for a little bit, rebuild on issues, and look at the places that you can improve to be able to come back. And the way you come back is really about an issue and an idea to make the country better.”

Also not helping Harris in recent days has been the loss of  some of her top aides, with one moving to Sacramento to work under Governor Gavin Newsom.

“She needs a good support staff if she runs for Governor or if she runs for President again,” explained campaign consultant Angela Winstone to the Globe on Monday. “She’s lost aides, and that hurts her in the short-term, and that means the Governor election. Long-term, she isn’t going to want the same election staff that had her lose this year, so that means rebuilding a campaign.

“Most telling is just how many people are coming out and saying ‘Don’t run for Governor’. The Democrats want a new direction, and in California, they need a new direction. The GOP is starting to come back, and they need younger lawmakers to help make that possible. Harris, Newsom – they’re the old guard now. They’re good for helping fundraise or for supporting with an endorsement. But them running? Newsom is going to have a hell of a time in 2028. And Harris now is known as a loser. She has that to get past.

“Kiley, McCarthy and the others are on the money. Don’t run. Take time off. Because if she does run, well, let’s just say that the GOP will like that very much. Republicans are saying she won’t win, and some Democrats are asking for her not to run for Governor. No one knows what to do with her. That’s the problem.”

  1. I would love it she runs because that would finally mean we would have a republican governor as someone mentioned. She is a loser!

    1. Of course before we could get our hopes up for the next Gov to be a Repub we would have to weed “the cheat” out of our elections in California. It could actually happen but we will have to wait and see if the incoming administration can make that happen.

        1. Good grief. Reagan was elected during the last century in 1966 and Arnold was elected in 2003. They were elected at a time when California still had a somewhat functioning election process. Paper ballots were used with a chain of custody and valid identification was needed in order to be able to vote. Mail-in ballots were limited and a valid reason had to be provided to obtain one.

After the passage of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2002, California counties used taxpayer funding from that act to purchase direct recording electronic (DRE) voting machines which were placed in every polling location. Those machines are subject to manipulation with back doors and can be connected to the internet.

California legalized ballot harvesting in 2013. Prior to that, a voter had to be ill or disabled for someone else to return their ballot for them, and that person had to be a family member or a member of the same household. Assembly Bill 1921, signed into law by Democrat Governor Jerry Brown in 2013, changed the rules to allow any registered voter to designate someone else to return their ballot for them, without the requirement of being ill or disabled.

In 2020, Newsom passed Democrat legislation that allowed universal vote-by-mail by all registered voters with no restrictions and no chain of custody.

Newsom signed Democrat Senate Bill 1174 into law that prohibits local governments from requiring voters to present identification when casting their ballots at the polls that effectively ended any local voter ID requirements in California.

California still does not have a provision for “cleaning up” voter rolls by removing eligible voters, as mandated by the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

The only way that Nanette’s corrupt Democrat thug masters can win elections is through voter fraud.

Pathetic are brainwashed Democrats like Nanette who’ve probably taken too many COVID vax boosters?

  2. The Democrats fear she might lose. It’s that simple. And in losing it would pull down their carefully constructed ecosystem of ballot harvesting graft and wasteful spending which features doling money out to NGOs, unions, and friends, who then kickback donations to keep them in office.

But, like Obama said about Biden, don’t underestimate Kamala’s ability to f%&k things up. I predict she WILL run.

  3. The only thing I know is what everyone else knows, which is if Que Mala has any chance at anything in the known universe, it’s in California…the only place crooked and saturated enough to even glance in her direction. OTOH, I’d love to see her run in 2028 just ‘cuz I like a good comedy — maybe she could even stay in the primaries long enough for two “debates,” who knows?

  4. Republicans attempting to talk Harris out of running for governor or potus is simply a strategy of using “reverse psychology” on the opponent….telling someone like this that she shouldn’t do something only motivates her MORE to do it. They know she’s a loser either way so they WANT her to run.

  5. Democrats figure their lemming base given the choice of her or a republican – they would kneel to their democrat masters who make choices for them.

  6. As long as the criminal Democrat mafia (and their RINO cronies) are in charge of California’s elections, no doubt they can install Kamala or anybody else they want with ballot fraud and rigged voting machines?
