New Poll: Only 32% of L.A. Voters Hold a Favorable Opinion of Mayor Bass
‘The Mayor who let L.A. burn’ will need some sort of miracle to change her image enough in time for next years election

A new UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) poll released on Tuesday found that favorability ratings for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass remained low four months following the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. And her bid for reelection next year is now in jeopardy.
According to the poll, Mayor Bass currently has a favorable opinion with only 32% of L.A. voters; a whopping 50% have an unfavorable opinion; 18% have no opinion. This capped off a dramatic shift from an October 2022 poll before she was elected Mayor where she stood at a 50% favorable percentage and was at only a 32% unfavorable percentage. Bass’ poor general response to the 2025 Palisades wildfire, as well as her subsequent lies about the fires, her cutting $17.5 million from the LAFD in the 2024-2025 city budget, and a recall campaign currently in full swing against Bass all contributed to her drastically lowered support figures.
When broken down, the poll shows just how far demographic support tumbled as well. Strongly liberal voters’ – a big part of her voting bloc in 2022 – favorability scores go from 70% in October 2022 to 46% in April 2025; unfavorable scores shoot up from 18% to 43%; liberal voters’ favorables go from 70% to only 36%; unfavorables went up from 17% to 41%. All other political ideologies followed a similar path, except for, curiously, conservative voters. There, favorable opinions of Bass actually went up from 13% to 16%, while unfavorable views went from 74% to 69%.
Every age range group but one also show massive 10 point drops in favorable views for Bass, with voters aged 30-39 going from 50% to 23%, and ages 50-64 going down from 48% to 29%. Only Bass’ bread and butter, voters aged 65 and up, barely show a dent. There, those voters’ favorable support only goes down from 57% to 54% and unfavorable views go up from 35% to 39%.
The most shocking drops were seen in racial group ratings. Black voters’ support – another bread and butter group for Bass – free falls from 2022 to present day, sliding from 70% in favor of Bass to only 46% in favor. Asian and white voters, the two biggest groups impacted by the wildfires, also report support plummeting for Bass. White voters went from 50% in favor to 32% in favor, with Asian voters showing an even more drastic 61% to 25% favorability slide. Only Latino voters saw a modest decrease of support, with only a 6 point shift from 40% favorability to 34%.
Bass continues to fall
“Bass’s current 32% positive vs. 50% negative image ratings among voters in the city of Los Angeles are a complete reversal from those she held during her last mayoral campaign in 2022,” said IGS Director Mark DiCamillo on Tuesday. “A Berkeley IGS Poll of the city’s likely voters conducted on behalf of the Los Angeles Times completed one week prior to her November 2022 mayoral election victory found 50% of the city’s voters viewing her favorably, while just 35% had an unfavorable opinion. The decline in Bass’s image ratings among LA city voters are broad–based and span nearly all major political and demographic subgroups of the city electorate.”
Overall, Bass the report shows almost universal declines, correlating to other polls from earlier this year. These include a March poll where only 19% of residents thought she did a good job responding to the wildfires as opposed to 41% thinking she did a poor job, as well as a poll that showed that more voters would voted for her 2022 opponent Rick Caruso over her if the election was held in February 2025.
This paves the way for what will assuredly be a difficult 2026 Mayoral reelection campaign for Bass, with many now comparing it to Joe Biden’s doomed 2024 campaign before he dropped out of the race in July of that year. While her victory in 2026 was all but assured before the wildfires, now there are many candidates currently mulling campaigns against her, including Caruso considering a second go. And with Bass now being known as the Mayor who let L.A. burn, she will need some sort of miracle to change her image enough in time for next years election.
“When you’re underwater and almost universally known — 82% of voters can offer an opinion of Bass in Los Angeles city — one of the hardest things to overcome is an accumulated negative image,” added DiCamillo. “Once you develop an unfavorable image, it’s hard to overcome. It almost requires another major event she can take credit for or look good in handling.”
Shows that 32% of El Lay residents are BRAIN-DEAD….
She should be pulling < 5%, if that….
Call her "Mayor Nero"….
It will be interesting to see if in the next election voters have adaquately reflected on the consequences of previously supporting Bass.
what about this scenario?
All the polls show Mayor Bass behind on election night, the turnout is not heavy, but not light, and there are some glitches like lack of ballots at some locations, and most people vote by mail. Bass is behind on the initial vote counts, but as the mail in votes are counted each day she gains. A week to 10 days later huge batches of Bass votes come in- just enough to bring her a miraculous victory!
In other words, it’s just like every California election over the last 10 years. Ballot harvesting, questionable signature verification, questionable late night ballot deliveries, and somehow people voting against their own financial interests carry the day for the incumbent. What will people do then?
They named it “Dominion” for a REASON, Rod….

See page 15 onwards… they’re FEATURES, not bugs….
“Security seals, locks, and security screws can be circumvented…” “…the requirement was partially covered.”
“This potentially leaves the system open to zipped and double zipped viruses as well as infection strings in plain text.”
“The ICX system is an android tablet device and contains no form of AV (anti-virus) protection.
The ICE and ICP2 systems are proprietary systems that utilize firmware and compact flash cards to run, load, and store election-based software. These systems contain no AV protection.
Testing demonstrated that the requirement was partially covered. The findings can be mitigated by rigorous adherence to physical security processes and procedures, which would preclude the introduction of any
malicious applications.” (Uh huh…)
Here we go :
“Review of the requirement 7.4.6.b.i, shows that Dominion specifies what is required to complete software validation but does not specifically supply the required software or hardware to do so. In the case of the ICX third party,
Android developer tools were required to pull packages from the ICX device for hashing.
Review of the requirement 7.4.6.c.i, shows that Dominion specifies what is required to complete software validation but does not specifically supply the required software or hardware to do so. In the case of the ICX third party, Android developer tools were required to pull packages from the ICX device
for hashing.
SLI was able to modify election specific installers utilizing a hex editor to change minor things including mouse over text and digital signature names
SLI was able to take installers from previous versions of the installation package and use them to install older versions of the software from the Democracy Suite Installation.
SLI believes it would be possible to inject more lethal payloads into the installers given the opportunity. (Smoking gun)
Review of requirement 7.4.6.f.i.2 determined that the ICX devices have no visual indicators showing if the port is enabled or disabled. (Cover the tracks)
Review of requirement 7.4.6.f.i.3 determined that the ICX devices have no visual indicators showing that the port is disabled during voting. (More cover)
Review of requirement 7.4.6.f.i.3 determined that there is not a specific method to be able to verify or determine exactly all contents on the system. (No audit trail)
Testing demonstrated that the requirement was partially covered.” (They’re being GENEROUS here…)
The managed switch was scanned with Nessus and determined to have twelve medium vulnerabilities and four low vulnerabilities. (A DOZEN MEDIUM VULNERABILITIES???)
Testing demonstrated that the requirement was partially covered. The findings can be mitigated by rigorous adherence to manufacturer specifications of hardening of the switch, including encryption and use of up
to date security certificates. (Of course, “rigorous adherence” is SCRUPULOUSLY applied, I’m quite sure….NOT!)
AND, IN CONCLUSION:
“During the CVSS requirements examination and the OEVT portion of the testing, issues were noted related to audit logging, passwords, anti-virus, and installation aspects of the voting system. It should be noted that these issues do not directly affect the overall function of the voting systems and could potentially be alleviated
with manual processes and procedures. In many cases the issues discovered were not in relation to public facing voting system components and required elevated systems permissions for access or manipulation.
It should also be noted that proper secure utilization of the voting system solution is reliant upon properly trained personnel, as well as following all processes and procedures set forth by the voting vendor to ensure properly configured and secured equipment for use in a live election environment.
As directed by the California Secretary of State, this report does not include any recommendation as to whether or not the system should be approved. (Signed off by corrupt former SOS, Alex Padilla before he skated off to the D.C. swamp…)
