NRCC Adds Jim Desmond to MAGA Majority Program

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) today announced Jim Desmond is being added to the 2026 MAGA Majority program.

San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond represents the Fifth District, which covers the northernmost area of San Diego County. Supervisor Desmond has been a County Supervisor since 2018.

He wrote many op-eds for the Globe about issues plaguing San Diego County.  And, when he announced his candidacy for Congress, Desmond explained his reasons.

“It’s becoming unbearable to live in California,” Desmond told the Globe in January 2025. “The cost of living is driving working families and seniors out of this state.”

In an earlier press release, Desmond said that he wanted to bring “bring effective leadership and real results to Washington, D.C. He noted his 12 years of elected experience in the area and in particular highlighted how he delivered results and prioritized public safety.”

“I’m running for Congress because it’s time for change,” Desmond added. “It’s time for common sense to return to our government. We need leaders who will focus on delivering real solutions on immigration, public safety, and homelessness. With my track record of leadership and proven ability to get results, I’m ready to bring your voice to Washington.”

And now Desmond is an important part of the MAGA movement and MAGA Majority, which President Donald Trump backs, calling it the “OUTSTANDING” MAGA Majority. “We HAVE to get them across the finish line.”

“Jim Desmond is a proven leader who knows Californians are fed up with high prices, crime, and the failures of corrupt Sacramento Democrats. He’s ready to help House Republicans restore sanity, lower costs, and send Democrats into retreat in California.” said NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez.

Jim Desmond is also a U.S. Navy veteran, a former mayor, and a former small business owner who is standing up to help working families.

Desmond ended the first quarter of 2026 with 1,064,355.84 cash on hand, more than both Ammar Campa-Najjar and Marni von Wilpert combined. 

The MAGA Majority program highlights a slate of strong candidates running in key battleground districts across the country who embody the Trump agenda: securing the border, lowering costs, restoring energy dominance, and putting American workers first. 

The NRCC will provide MAGA Majority candidates with early support, strategic resources, and visibility as Republicans expand the map and go on offense in districts where Democrats are vulnerable.

With over a dozen Democrats currently sitting in Trump-won seats, the battlefield is already favorable for Republicans, and the MAGA Majority is designed to capitalize on that opportunity.

MAGA Majority is the new name for the NRCC’s long-time Young Guns program.
