California State Senator Scott Wiener from San Francisco is nothing if not hyperbolic. His overwrought fundraising emails usually make farfetched claims about how everyone on the right wants to “take out” and “wage war” on the LGBTQ community.
In his latest email, and he doesn’t disappoint, the State Senator twists himself into a pretzel to appear a victim:

Sen. Wiener’s claims that “MAGA extremists are waging an all-out war on LGBTQ people — especially trans youth and the most vulnerable among us,” has no basis unless you count Republican lawmakers who vote against Sen. Wiener’s bills.
“They’re slashing funding for HIV treatment and prevention.
Vilifying trans kids for playing sports.
Attacking Pride celebrations and LGBTQ visibility.”
In a follow up email, Sen. Wiener says, “MAGA extremists are launching their most vicious attacks yet – Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security has started attacking Scott about this bill.”
“Don’t worry – he’s not backing down.”
Note his choice of language:
“…slashing funding for HIV treatment and prevention;” The federal funds for HIV prevention have been restored, and Sen. Wiener knows this.
“Vilifying trans kids for playing sports;” those would be biological boys identifying as female who are booting girls out of their own sports teams in order to compete in girl’s and women’s sports…
“Attacking Pride celebrations and LGBTQ visibility;” What Trump supporters are attacking Pride celebrations? “Attacking?” Is this because Pepsi, Nissan, Mastercard, Deloitte, Anheuser-Busch and others pulled corporate sponsorships this year from LGBTQ+ pride festivals around the country?
The New Republic actually refers to “anti-LGBTQ legislation” and the resulting “legal challenges” as “Threats” and “harassment,” and “Political Violence.”
It’s clear that Senator Wiener gets some of his talking points from The New Republic, like MAGA is “waging an all-out war on LGBTQ people.”
They also report, “In at least 10 states since June 1, LGBTQ+ magazine Them has identified anti-LGBTQ+ vandalism and threats of violence, including more than a dozen vandalized Pride flags or banners.”
Here’s what Them magazine reported:
“This includes bomb threats made in at least three states and more than a dozen separate reports of vandalized Pride flags or banners since June 1, 2024.
On June 8, the Seward Community Library & Museum in Seward, Alaska received a bomb threat over the phone in retaliation for a drag story hour event planned for that day, according to Alaska Public Media.
The following Sunday, more emailed bomb threats were reported in Austin, Texas, where the threat forced the Brewtorium Brewery to cancel a drag brunch and Pride market,
and in Newton, Massachusetts, where the New Art Center’s a drag brunch and Pride market. The latter was the first bomb threat in the arts center’s 47-year history, executive director Emily O’Neil told WBTS-CD.
The Seward Alaska drag story hour event… “Seward Deputy Chief of Police Karl Schaefermeyer said as of Saturday, the call didn’t appear to come from a local resident,” Alaska Public Radio reported. “We’ve been in contact with the FBI, and we’ll continue to track down some leads there and see if we can find out who’s responsible,” he said.
The Austin Texas drag brunch and Pride market… “The Austin Police Department said there was a 911 call received around noon Sunday saying a person received an email about a bomb placed in the building. Officers responded, searched and found nothing suspicious,” KXAN.com reported.
And the Newton, Massachusetts drag brunch and Pride market… “The Newton Fire Department searched the slate roof of the building – a church from the 1870s,” NBC Boston reported. “Police ultimately cleared the art center, saying there was no need to cancel Sunday’s event.”
I can’t find any follow up articles on these bomb threats. Were they real? Who made the calls or emails? C’mon – do some follow up reporting.
Notably, they are all drag queen events. Also notable is that a lot of gay couples don’t buy into the trans and drag culture, and don’t appreciate that drag queens have somehow become the spokespeople for the entire LGBTQ+ community. And many don’t take their kids to drag queen story hour.
Senator Wiener said in his fundraising email, “And just this month, in a chilling act of erasure, the Trump administration announced plans to rename the Navy ship honoring Harvey Milk — a veteran, a hero, and a trailblazer for our rights.”
“This is a coordinated campaign to strip away our rights, our dignity, and our very existence.”
No Senator Wiener, the Trump administration is returning the United States Military to its warrior ethos by ending DEI virtue signaling on U.S. Military ships. They are also renaming the USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and six other naval ships including the USNS Dolores Huerta, USNS Thurgood Marshall, USNS Harriet Tubman, USNS Lucy Stone, USNS Medgar Evers, and USNS Cesar Chavez.

“The renaming was being done so that there is ‘alignment with president and SECDEF objectives and SECNAV priorities of reestablishing the warrior culture,'” Military.com reported.
Senator Wiener is a professional grade grievance hustler, appearing to enjoy fundraising on his perpetual victim status. And gird your loins – there will be more political years ahead for Scott Wiener as he just filed paperwork Friday announcing his intent on running for Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) 11th District Congressional seat in 2028.

One of the problems we have in California is that not only are the voting methods controlled by Democrats, but also the candidates chosen by the party to run are a tight circle of rotating chairs with no input from the actual voters. That’s how we end up with Padilla, Schiff, and now most likely Weiner who push policies on trans, schools, the environment, and immigration that would never pass the general electorate if put to a vote. An active press could expose this, but that’s not what we’ve got.
It just might be good for California for this ambitious man to move to D.C. Perhaps then his radical voice will be drowned and lost in the crowd of 400+ lawmakers.
Then maybe California can start focusing on the general populace and not a small special interest group.
I agree, Tomorrow. Put Wiener on a national stage and the rest of the country will be exposed to his perverted dark agenda. He will become the Face of California with predictable projectile vomiting reactions.
I’m confident that the gay men I’ve known over the years would prefer —- to the extent they pay attention to a circus clown like Scott Wiener at all —- that their names not be blackened by what a con artist such as Wiener is trying to sell to the public. Because, let’s face it, the man is a con artist first and foremost, and a self-proclaimed champion for the gay community second. But what has he actually done for LGBTQ++ in the end? A whole lotta NOTHING, that’s what. Which many S.F. gays will confirm.
The hoax hate crimes Katy Grimes cited above most would consider very serious matters that cry out for serious punishment, and if they did receive that serious punishment it would be a welcome deterrent against future time-wasting and trust-destroying shenanigans. Most such cartoonish hoaxes are recognized as fakes at first glance by average people in a way that the childish perpetrators of them are apparently completely unable to see for themselves. (Think Jussie Smollett.)
Will State Senator Scott Wiener eventually succeed in replacing longtime congresswoman Nancy Pelosi? Only if he is “installed” through election manipulation, and not through an actual groundswell of voter support. Even in the Bay Area in California. Never mind, whatever works to get the seat, con artist Scott Wiener would probably say.

Not only is it completely false, but their are several Cabinet‑Level & Senior Officials in the Trump administration who openly homosexual and lesbian such as the following:
* Richard Grenell: He’s currently the President and Interim Executive Director of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He was the first openly gay person ever appointed to a Cabinet-level position when he served as Acting Director of National Intelligence in 2020 and he was U.S. Ambassador to Germany and led a global initiative to decriminalize homosexuality.
* Scott Bessent: He was nominated and confirmed as Treasury Secretary on January 27, 2025 making him the highest-ranking openly gay official in U.S. history. President Trump chose him based on ability, not his sexual orientation.
* Randy Berry: Appointed by Trump as U.S. Ambassador to Nepal; he’s openly gay.
* Bill White: Prominent Trump fundraiser and named U.S. Ambassador to Belgium; he’s openly gay.
* Eric Nelson: Appointed U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia, he’s openly gay.
* Jeff Daigle: Appointed U.S. Ambassador to Cabo Verde, he’s openly gay.
* Tammy Bruce: Named State Department spokesperson in Trump’s 2025 administration, she’s a conservative lesbian.
Jacob Helberg: He was selected as Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, he’s openly gay.
Not only is Senator Wiener a professional grade grievance hustler as Katy Grimes detailed, but he’s carpet bagging Harvard trained lawyer from back east and a calculating ingrate who preys on vulnerable youth– especially if they’re male. He’s also co-chair of the Democrat Jewish Caucus but he has completely ignored the rampant antisemitic attacks against Jewish students on California’s public schools and universities. I was surprised to see a comment about Weiner remaining mum about all the anti-Semitic campus chaos. What’s up with that? It’s obvious to me he is ill-equipped to sort issues with merit.
