Today California State Senator Kevin De León (D-Los Angeles) picked up another endorsement while he rides on the heels of Dianne Feinstein.
The Sunrise Movement “is thrilled to endorse Kevin De León for U.S. Senate. Kevin is the kind of visionary leader and climate champion our generation needs – the kind that’s willing to walk the walk and stand up for our health and our future.”
After the news, De León thanked the organization by stating “we all deserve to breathe clean air and drink clean water. It’s time to implement a Green New Deal so we can build a sustainable economy, create good-paying jobs for hardworking Californians, and fight climate change. Thank you for your support.”

The Sunrise Movement is a bay area based group that focuses on education young people on climate change. They are also “organizing to kick corrupt politicians backed by the fossil fuels industry out of office.”
It should come as no surprise that an organization with these ambitions would back a candidate like De León. His Senate resume boasts of passing notable climate bills including the most recent SB 100 which commits California to get 100% of its energy from clean sources by 2045.
Despite the De León campaign launching a barrage of recent ads and picking up more support, it seems as his rival incumbent Dianne Feinstein is still steadily out front. The most recent major poll released last week by Reuters/Ipsos and the University of Virginia Center for Politics, has 44% of the likely voters favoring Feinstein compared to 24% for De León and 30% who plan to pick neither.
