The recent explosive story that Freshman Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) had engaged in an improper “long-term sexual relationship with a female campaign staffer,”  denied the story, and then played the victim claiming her husband was abusive, isn’t over yet. It has only gotten stranger. Hill and her husband, who are in divorce proceedings, were allegedly involved in a lengthy “throuple” relationship with the young staffer.

However, just three days after Katie Hill’s sexual misconduct story with her staff was revealed, she formed a joint fundraising committee with the California Democratic Party: Hill 2020 Victory Fund, Statement Of Organization, Filed 10/21/19.

The California Democratic Party has a tarnished reputation of late, and is currently reeling from $800,000 in legal costs stemming from sexual misconduct lawsuits with former chairman Eric Bauman, Associated Press, reported in TIME recently.

On October 12, 2019, just six days before the revelations of Hill’s affair, the California Democratic Party paid $800,000 in legal costs stemming from sexual misconduct allegations against former Chairman Eric Bauman.

“The California Democratic Party has spent more than $800,000 in legal costs tied to three lawsuits alleging discrimination and sexual misconduct by its former chair, Eric Bauman. The Los Angeles Times reports Saturday that the party has paid $430,000 in attorney fees and $378,348 in legal settlements in the three cases. Bauman resigned as party chairman last year amid multiple allegations of excessive drinking and sexual harassment. He has denied the allegations.” Associated Press, reported in TIME.

House Ethics Committee Opened an Investigation

“Photographs and text messages obtained by RedState show that Rep. Hill was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with a female campaign staffer. The woman, whose name is not being released, was hired by Hill in late 2017 and quickly became involved in a ‘throuple’ relationship with Hill and her estranged husband, Kenny Heslep,” RedState reported.

Following the news reports, the House Ethics Committee on Wednesday opened an investigation into Rep. Katie Hill after RedState’s article exposing that she had an improper relationship with a staffer.

CADEM Party Scandal

Democratic Party staffer William Floyd filed a lawsuit charging that former California Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman “forcibly performed oral sex on him several times,” California Globe reported in April. Last November, Bauman resigned as chairman of the California Democratic Party.

Floyd, 28, is suing the 59-year-old Bauman, the state Democrat Party and the Los Angeles Democrat Party for alleging “sexual harassment, assault, battery, negligence and civil rights violations.”

“Multiple staffers said that Bauman, the party’s first openly gay chairman, would often make sexual comments to men and women at work.” Bauman told one woman he wanted to have sex with her and “suggested she would have been a gay man in a previous life.” Such incidents were so common that staffers arranged for their own transportation to avoid being on the same bus with Bauman.”

“The lawsuits alleged a culture of sexual misconduct that was ‘well-known and apparently tolerated’ by top party officials,” AP/TIME reported.
