Gavin Newsom’s Ongoing Tyranny of California Includes Special Legislative Session
Newsom’s own policies and the bills he has signed into law have only served to destroy what makes California beautiful, livable, productive, safe, abundant, and incomparable

When you think of California in 2024, instead of misty redwoods, golden beaches and snow-covered mountains, visions of homelessness, high crime, high taxes, high gas prices, high housing costs, and illegal border crossings come to mind. Yet Governor Gavin Newsom has called a special legislative session on California’s highest-in-the-nation gas prices – gas prices his policies have created and escalated.
As the California Legislature was preparing to adjourn in late August, Gov. Newsom threatened to call a special session if lawmakers didn’t pass his Venezuela-Like price controls proposal of the oil and gas industry – his latest proposal to control California’s petroleum industry.
Just ahead of the upcoming special session, Assembly Republicans hosted a press conference with business owners and local mayors presenting actual solutions to lower gas prices and keep California affordable.
“This session is politically deconstructing the affordable gas supply in California based on a demonstrably false narrative. One of the most renowned and well-respected journalists in California, Dan Walters, in his commentary yesterday provided ample proof. The governor’s proposal is based on a misplaced ideology-solving a problem that doesn’t exist,” said Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno), vice-chair of the special session committee on gas costs. “By Newsom’s own analysis, California is a fuel island, one refinery outage away from being unable to meet the needs of Californians. The governor’s proposal will drive prices higher and do nothing to keep California refineries open.”
This appears to be exactly what Gavin Newsom wants to have happen – one refinery outage away from being unable to meet the needs of Californians.
“Governor Newsom created the California nightmare that forced California residents to pay more than any other state for gas and electricity. And he wants to blame the oil industry?” said Dave Noerr, Mayor of Taft. “He needs to step up and take ownership for his own state and policies instead of blaming others.”
Don’t hold your breath Mayor Noerr…
And because he has never been held accountable by California’s legacy media or the state’s low information voters, Newsom continues to push for higher gas prices, gas and fuel shortages, water shortages, fallowed farmland, rolling energy blackouts, and devastating harms to California’s children.
Newsom’s devastating harms to California’s children:
Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1955 into law to prohibit schools from notifying parents if their child is “gender confused” or “transitioning” to the opposite sex.
Newsom signed Senate Bill 145 which allows “non-forcible sodomy, oral copulation, and sexual penetration with a minor” and does not “require mandatory sex offender registration unless there is a ten-year gap between the minor and the other person.” That bill legalizes adults having sex with minors.
Newsom signed Assembly Bill 2223, the “infanticide” legislation which allows abortion up to a baby’s birth, and removes all penalties from anyone violating any abortion health and safety standards when performing an abortion on a woman through all nine months of pregnancy. The bill also hampers law enforcement’s ability to investigate and prosecute infanticide.
Newsom’s proposed control of the oil and gas industry:
Newsom has mandated an all-electric state including autos and trucks, while simultaneously dismantling the oil and gas industry through regulations and laws – death by a thousand cuts.
Newsom’s proposed control of the oil and gas industry does the opposite of what he claims, and he knows it. He’s gaslighting everyone.
The Western States Petroleum Association vehemently disagrees with Newsom’s proposal:
“California already faces a de facto production ban, forcing more than 75 percent of the crude our state uses to be shipped in from overseas. Additionally, upcoming ‘at berth’ regulations, set to take effect in just a few months, may exacerbate this problem by restricting shipping and causing significant declines in the supply of crude oil and other transportation fuel products needed to meet the state’s energy demands. WSPA has repeatedly warned the administration and lawmakers about the cumulative effects of these supply-limiting policies, but to no avail.”
It’s quite obvious what Newsom is doing, while preparing a takeover of California’s petroleum industry – Gov. Gavin Newsom’s California Energy Commission regulators announced in August proposed government controls of the petroleum industry, as the Globe reported in August.
The Western States Petroleum Association explains how devastating Newsom’s proposal would be:
“There are bad regulations, and then there are regulations so detrimental that industry experts, the California Energy Commission, and anyone with a basic understanding of economics can clearly see the harm they will cause consumers. Governor Newsom’s refinery supply mandate will create artificial shortages of fuel in California, Arizona and Nevada by forcing refiners to withhold fuels from the market. Lawmakers who vote for this mandate will be voting to increase gas costs for their constituents.”
Newsom’s entitlements to illegal immigrants:
Newsom has not only allow hundreds of thousands (millions?) of illegal immigrants into the state, he’s now providing free health care and welfare support to illegal immigrants, allowing illegal immigrants to vote in local elections, in-state tuition, free cell phones, and now proposing unemployment payments for illegal immigrants.
53 members of the California Assembly and 25 members of the California Senate voted to give illegal aliens up to $150,000 free down payment to buy a house a new home, on top of providing free health care and free college tuition. Newsom vetoed that bill citing the strained state budget.
Newsom’s escalating crime
The ballot initiative to amend Prop. 47, Proposition 36, the California Proposition 36, the Increase Drug and Theft Penalties and Reduce Homelessness Initiative, will be on the November 2024 ballot, despite Democrats in the Legislature and Gov. Gavin Newsom’s attempts to kill it… and despite the important legal fixes Prop. 36 will make to California’s outrageous crime problems.
Crime and rampant retail theft throughout California cities has caused thousands of small business and store closures. Escalating fentanyl overdoses are killing young Californians at a stunning rate. Yet Democrats have had 10-years since the passage of Proposition 47 to legally address the crimes Prop. 47 turned into misdemeanors from felonies, and ushered in a decade of serial retail theft, homelessness, drug trafficking, sex crimes, sex trafficking and other violent and terrible crimes. And every legislative attempt was summarily killed or never even given a hearing.
Nearly 50% of the stores in San Francisco have closed and residents are fleeing the city. Sacramento’s downtown still looks as if the 2020 riots just took place. Los Angeles is… well, it’s a hot mess.
Democrats and Gov. Newsom don’t want “the people” or Republicans to get credit for overturning their dystopian hellscape ballot initiative because the goal always was to turn California into a society characterized by human misery, squalor, oppression, disease, and overcrowding. Just look at all of the legislation they pass and sign into law.
Rather than supporting Prop. 36, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrat lawmakers rushed a package of their own retail theft bills through to mislead voters, adding in “poison pill” amendment provisions to provide that the bills would be repealed if the Fix Prop. 47 (Prop. 36) initiative is approved by voters in November.
The Governor also threatened to squeeze in another voter initiative to the floor of the Senate or Assembly in July. He recanted that idea under a lot of really bad press. So Prop. 36 will be on the November ballot and is polling incredibly well.
Newsom regulating businesses
California fast-food restaurants have been forced to cut back on employee hours, shut down, or consider moving out of state completely because of Gov. Gavin Newsom‘s new $20-an-hour minimum wage law, a new study has shown,” the Daily Mail reported.
Some fast-food restaurants have had to lay off staff completely, or close down, as the Globe has reported: over 1,200 Pizza Hut drivers have had announced lay-offs. The Globe reported Rubio’s Coastal Grill, a Carlsbad-based Mexican food restaurant chain with over 200 stores nationwide, announced that 48 stores in California would close over the weekend because of a large number of rising costs, including employee wages.
Newsom the Tyrant
Despite California’s record budget deficit, Newsom’s own wealth improved: He accepted a gift of a $3.7 million, 12,000 square foot mansion on 8 acres along the American River in Sacramento, then made $2.7 million tax-free for obtaining a cash-out refinance, and didn’t report the gift on any financial disclosure forms, as Jen Van Laar reported at Redstate.
Never forget what a tyrant Gavin Newsom is, and remember that for the first time in history, healthy people were locked down during the worldwide Coronavirus scare: He ordered mandatory Covid lockdowns of the entire state of 40 million people for three years, mandatory masking, mandatory social distancing, mandatory vaccines, and Covid patients into nursing homes resulting in record numbers of dead elderly nursing home patients. Newsom signed a bill to force doctors to comply with state medical directives, and then to punish those who refuse to comply.
As Totalitarian Tyrant, Gov. Newsom issued 58 executive orders – “one-man-rule” decrees – during his statewide lockdown.
The governor/Tyrant continued to require face coverings for unvaccinated people, in some version of a social segregation system, pitting citizens against one another.
And Gov. Newsom was caught living his best life, dining at the French Laundry in Napa, enjoying multiple vacations out of the country while he locked down Californians. In Feb. 2022 he starred in “MaskGate” at the NFC Championship game in Los Angeles – despite his own face mask mandates.
The Babylon Bee knows who Gavin Newsom is as they obtained this exclusive, official, 100% real Gavin Newsom election ad:
Newsom’s policies have expedited the destruction of the most beautiful state; accelerated the declining population through outbound migration resulting in the loss of a congressional seat. He has irreparably harmed California’s businesses and once thriving economy starting with his 3 years of Covid lockdowns, which hurt mostly small business owners.
Newsom more than quadrupled the drug-addicted homeless vagrants living on California streets making cities unlivable.
Newsom bolstered labor unions while crushing independent contractors and gig workers.
Gavin Newsom increased poverty in California while growing state government.
It’s as if Gov. Newsom was very carefully and specifically trained on what it would take to destroy California – the one thing in which he actually excels – that, and feathering his own nest.
As Gardey Holmes wrote in Newsom Unleashed: The Progressive Lust for Unbridled Power, “This is a man whose intentions are the exaltation of himself and the furtherance of his own power. And, worst of all, his well-established pattern for seeking such exaltation and power is the advancement of extreme left-wing policies.”

Katy and California Globe….”The Courageous Enemy of Fake News”. Thanks for freedom of speech! Keep it up!
Has Katy Grimes has well-catalogued, many times, with eye-popping lists that seem to go on forever, EVERYTHING Gavin Newsom has done in the past five years has turned California into a stinking, smoldering, filthy, crime-ridden pit of a hell hole. It has been a tsunami of damage and harm and we can only conclude he has done it on purpose. And yet he is still determined to beat the last bit of life out of the state! We’ll see. The worm has likely turned in the legislature too, as it has everywhere else.
Good thing (for us) he is irrelevant and becoming more so every day. His political career is over but he doesn’t know it yet. All he can do is the same old thing, whipping out his pen like in the old days to torture the people he is supposed to be serving. Pathetic.
The “illegal” Gavin Newsom Election Ad has to be my FAVORITE political ad of all time. Well except for the “illegal” Kamala Election Ad. GOLD!
Hair Jell needs is little tiny moustache to make this act complete.
No kidding, CW.
