Gavin Newsom is ‘All In’ on Undermining Trump EPA

The Globe finds another non-profit in need of DOGE

By Katy Grimes, March 21, 2025 10:45 am

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced earlier this month that the EPA will undertake 31 historic deregulation actions to advance President Trump’s Day One executive orders and Power the Great American Comeback.

Administrator Zeldin is taking a DOGE flame-thrower to the EPA.

Most Americans think this is a very good plan. Deregulation of EPA regulations means very good outcomes for businesses and individuals.

But not everyone was happy. Governor Gavin Newsom referred to this as “dismantling decades of clean air and clean water protections.”

Now Newsom has a title to go along with his climate change passions:

“In his first action since being named Co-Chair of the subnational climate coalition America Is All In, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced a groundbreaking state effort to cut methane pollution with the help of innovative satellite technology,” a press release from California Governor Gavin Newsom says.

“The new initiative comes as the Trump Administration’s EPA works to dismantle decades of clean air and clean water protections. Specifically, the U.S. EPA is reconsidering the “endangerment finding,” which is the basis for federal actions to curb planet-warming emissions of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and methane.”

What will Gavin Newsom do as “co-chair” of America Is All In?

“Governor Newsom’s leadership will further strengthen America Is All In’s mission to scale climate ambition, build resilient communities, and build confidence around the world that the United States is contributing to global climate efforts.”

The climate coalition “America Is All In” is another “resist” group, created when President Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017, “Governors Jerry Brown, Jay Inslee, and Andrew Cuomo formed the U.S. Climate Alliance, a bipartisan coalition of American governors that commit to upholding the objectives of the Paris Agreement within their states’ borders.”

And Friday, “Governor Gavin Newsom today announced he is joining America Is All In as its newest Co-Chair. In each of the 50 states in the U.S. and across sectors, the coalition of state and local leaders aims to cut emissions in half by 2030 and reach net zero emissions by 2050, while building resilience in the face of increasing climate impacts.”

“The Governor will serve alongside Managing Co-Chair Gina McCarthy and fellow Co-Chairs Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb.”

“In these roles, they will drive momentum and build on progress in advancing impactful climate policies at both the state and local levels,” America Is All In says.

Wow. “They will drive momentum” – hopefully not in a gas powered car.

Remember when the Globe predicted in October 2024 in “California’s Gas Supply Restrictions Lead Gavin Newsom to World Stage: Move over Al Gore…”, that once his role as Joe Biden’s surrogate presidential candidate was shattered as Democrats replaced him with Kamala Harris, how could Newsom remain present in order to facilitate a run for President in 4 years?”

“Gavin Newsom is working to become the next Al Gore – the name and face of the worldwide climate change grift,” the Globe said.

Newsom’s press statement Friday explains his role:

“In California, we’re not slowing down our work to slash pollution and dominate clean industries of the future. In fact, we’re ramping up because it will take all of us to meet this moment.

I’m looking forward to joining America Is All In as a Co-Chair and working alongside our U.S. and international partners on this critical work.”

America is All In created the Clean Energy Academy “to assist tax-exempt subnational organizations in securing clean energy funding from the Inflation Reduction Act.”

The Inflation Reduction Act was actually the Green New Deal.

“The Clean Energy Academy will help more than 20 ambitious organizations across 15 states tap into Inflation Reduction Act benefits to accelerate the clean energy transition.”

Sounds like a massive redistribution of wealth to non-profit and non-governmental organizations, just like USAID, exposed as a shadow government piggy bank for far-left causes.

Leading the America is All In Clean Energy Academy is RMI (the pass-through organization?) – the Rocky Mountain Institute, which the Globe wrote about in 2023:

California is set to become the first state to ban natural gas heaters, water heaters, and furnaces by 2030, a policy of the California Air Resources Board, entirely made up of appointees by the governor, I reported in 2023 in The Tangled Government Web Behind the Push to Ban Gas Stoves, where we link Harvard Health Publishing, the Rocky Mountain Institute,  MDPI International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH) National Library of Medicine. NIH is the largest source of funding for medical research in the world. The WHO is named in the studies, as are many Chinese studies.

RMI is the Rocky Mountain Institute, “a 501(c)3 nonprofit aiming to radically improve America’s energy practices.”

Rocky Mountain Institute proposes “carbon-free buildings.” They say, “Commercial buildings consume more than 35 percent of the generated electricity in the U.S. and are underperforming at every level. They waste energy, emit too much carbon, and are too costly for owners and occupants.”

Under the RMI Carbon-free Electricity program, they say:

We Must: Scale clean energy portfolios; Build clean, competitive, modern grids; Make utilities clean energy champions.

Natural gas does not fit into this model.

The 2022 revenue for the RMI (their latest IRS 990 form available) was $164,378,358.

The 2019 revenue for the RMI (their IRS 990 form) was $61,864, 266.

RMI’s revenue increased by $102,514,132 in 3 years.

And the RMI organization qualifies under IRS rules as a “publicly supported organization,” by more than 72%, according to their IRS Form 990.

It’s as if the government was just creating another jobs program – for itself – rather than addressing a real need, the Globe said in 2023. Perhaps the motive is more nefarious. The WHO is named in the studies, as are many Chinese studies.

“The Academy, led by RMI, will help organizations take advantage of the tax incentives available through the Inflation Reduction Act by leveraging new financing opportunities such as direct pay – provisions within the Inflation Reduction Act that make certain clean energy tax credits refundable – and the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to build clean energy projects. Participants were chosen for their demonstrated commitment to advancing ambitious and equitable clean energy projects.”

The Clean Energy Academy “provided workshops, personalized technical assistance, and resources to help participants identify and implement clean energy projects.” They did What? Held a workshop? Provided technical support? What garbage. Where did the money go? Take a look at the participants and leaders.

“In its first cohort, approximately 20 participants, including universities and healthcare institutions, received support from June to November 2024 to access federal financing mechanisms and advance their projects.”

Calling EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, to the Red Phone. STAT.
