George Soros Gives Massive Donation to Gov. Newsom for Mid-Decade Redistricting Effort

Billionaire oligarch George Soros has contributed $10 million to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s ballot initiative to redistrict the state, the New York Times reported.

California Rep. Kevin Kiley (R) just posted on X:

“George Soros just gave $10 million to Newsom’s Redistricting Sham. In case there were any doubts what this is all about.”

Steve Guest said on X:

FOLLOW THE MONEY: “Soros’ Open Society gave $80 million to pro-terror groups” “Soros Gives $10 Million to Newsom Redistricting Fight”

“Since 2016, George Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF), now run with his son Alexander, has poured over $80 million into groups tied to terrorism or extremist violence,” CapitalResearch reported. “Open Society awarded at least $23,275,000 to seven groups that directly assist domestic terrorism and criminality on U.S. soil. These groups specifically engage in or materially assist violence, property destruction, economic sabotage, harassment, and other criminality that meets the FBI’s definition of domestic terrorism.”

Governor Gavin Newsom is taking money from a man who supports domestic terrorism on American streets.

“Gov. Gavin Newsom has raised roughly $70 million in less than two months for the California ballot measure to redraw the state’s congressional lines, with the family of the prominent Democratic financier George Soros recently kicking in $10 million,” the Times reports. Most of the contributions to Newsom’s redistricting initiative have come from labor unions.

Newsom’s mid-decade redistricting initiative, which many say is illegal, is facing a federal legal challenge: Gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton filed legal action to the United States District Court Central District of California to stop California’s unconstitutional redistricting plan, which violates the principle of one person, one vote and shreds the guarantee of equal protection under the law, the Globe reported this week.

In August, California’s legislative Democrats kicked the voter approved independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission to the curb for the next few elections, when they introduced their package of three bills, SB 280, AB 604, and ACA 8, to redraw California’s congressional districts mid-decade, described in detail by California Globe contributor Chris Micheli.

California Governor Gavin Newsom seeks political retribution against President Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott by eliminating five out of nine Republican districts to “save democracy.”

The California Legislature passed Assembly Constitutional Amendment 8, which authorized Proposition 50 for the ballot. Prop. 50 will suspend the Citizens Redistricting Commission (CRC) maps for upcoming 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections, taking away the role of the independent commission, handing redistricting power to the state legislature in Sacramento.

During Assembly floor debate on ACA 8 in August, Trump Derangement Syndrome was on full display today in the California Assembly. Accusations of “Trump is a fascist,” to “Trump is an authoritarian,” to Trump is a threat to Democracy,” “Trump is destroying the health care system,” to “Trump is the reason my golf game sucks,” were expressed by nearly all Democrats who spoke on the bills.

Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher had plenty to say about the gerrymandering of congressional districts:

“Don’t p–s on my boots and tell me it’s raining. These are rigged maps drawn in secret to give Democrat politicians more power by dismantling the independent commission Californians created to keep them out of map-drawing,” said Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (R-East Nicolaus) after legislative Democrats via DCCC leaked their rigged maps.

“In order to save Democracy we must dismantle it,” Gallagher said.

Proposition 50 is a betrayal of California’s voters, so it makes sense that George Soros supports it.

In 2008, California voters approved a Constitutional Amendment creating the Citizens Redistricting Commission, delegating a bipartisan panel of citizens to draw electoral maps every ten years following a national census.

Polling on the issue hasn’t been good. In August more voters opposed redistricting than supported it.

However, a new Emerson College Polling survey commissioned by Nexstar Media for Inside California Politics finds that a slim majority of California voters support Proposition 50 Fox5 San Diego reported. The poll, conducted on Sept. 15-16, found that 51% of voters plan to vote “yes” on Prop. 50, while 34% say they’ll vote “no.” Another 15% are still undecided. Among voters who say they are very likely to vote, support rises to 55%.

“The $10 million donation makes the Soros family the single largest funder in favor of the redistricting ballot measure. And it comes at a moment when President Trump has explicitly called for Mr. Soros and his son Alex to be investigated as part of an escalation of his efforts to clamp down on political opposition,” the Times said.

  1. I is unbelievable that democracy’s Satan is allowed fund a scheme to disenfranchise California voters not sufficiently disenfranchised by a corrupt election process.
This is a giant middle finger to Trump, and we are getting the knife.
You can’t make this stuff up. You know Newsom is in his chair wiggling and giggling like a little boy with a new toy.

  2. Between this latest Soros nonsense and the recent dive back into Covid vaxx pressure, abortion push, transgender push, etc., in an apparent CA/West Coast “secession” effort, it should now be obvious to everyone who is paying attention in this state that Newsom is shooting for full dictatorial control of California to the point that it could very well be suicidal for its most gullible, and thus vulnerable, residents, whatever small percentage of the state’s population may be.
What remains to be seen during this critical time is whether he can actually get away with his full-on totalitarian dreams in the limited time he has before either being carted away in shackles to face trial and judgment, or whether by pursuing his plan he ends up destroying his own future political ambitions…. maybe without fully realizing he is doing so. We’ll see

  3. I tend to line up with the crowd that believes that Newsom will be carted away in shackles to face trial and judgement. Newsom is a soldier with not much real-world experience; He graduated from college in 1989, goes into business with a Getty in 1991 and in 1996 Willie Brown taps him to fill a role in San Francisco city government. We have all lived through his time in state government and the policy initiatives that he has championed have further exacerbated the issues that it was intended to solve. We have all asked the question where the money went that was misappropriated that was intended to solve a problem. There is way too much smoke surrounding Newsom for there not to be a fire.

  4. 51% of the people who said they would vote “yes” on Prop. 50, are too stupid to vote.

    California is going full fascism.

    1. This is a pre-programming psy-op and suspiciously similar to the percentage by which Newsom “won” his recall election.
With Dominion they can screw with the voting and tabulation of the votes so they can squeak by with the narrowest of margins, as they have since electronic voting systems replaced paper ballots tabulated at the local precinct level.
Now that counting is done at the COUNTY level, in secret, over weeks post-election, the Democrats and the “trusted build” can report whatever the hell they want….
And the CAGOP does NOTHING to challenge this….

  5. Let’s not forget in addition to 94% of the districts being Democrat, broke California Assembly passed AB 155 “Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development: California Civic Media Program”. It sets up a $10 million program to support “local journalism”, so they can control the media even more than they do now.

    California is going full Commie.

  6. Gavin Newscum is a pathetic lying, cheating, crooked, slimy snake-oil sales man. Never believe a word that comes out of that dirt-bags mouth. I am amazed at how stupid the people of California can be to keep electing this douche-bag.

    1. It’s called election fraud. Isn’t there enough leftist idiocy in Austin, Houston, and Dallas/Fort Worth as well as higher education SINCE THE LATE 60s ( the Zavala county communist antics of La Raza Unida circa 1970, which was hatched from 60s university group MAYO) in Texas to occupy Texans without trolling Californians? How about giving Colony Ridge some attention? Explain Jasmine Crocket, please. What about all those Democrat politiciand abandoning their posts to disrupt state legislation?

  7. It’s only fitting that a demon like Soros would funnel millions of dollars to pro-terror groups while at the same time giving millions of dollars for an illegal power grab by Hair-gel Hitler Newsom and his criminal Democrat cronies who act like an oppressive domestic terror group by locking healthy innocent Californians down in their homes and forcing them to take experimental “vaccine” shots.

    1. In a vote that exposed the dark side of the majority of Democrats, the House on Friday passed a resolution honoring Charlie Kirk and rejecting political violence. The vote was 310-58, with 95 Democrats joining all 215 Republicans in voting yes on the nonbinding resolution. The 58 no votes all came from Democrats, but another 38 Democrats voted present (would not take an open side) and another 22 Democrats did not vote. In other words, 118 Democrats in Congress refused to support the resolution. It’s not surprising since more and more legislative Democrats seem to be advocating violence to achieve their Marxist globalist agenda?

  8. At this stage of American politics, accepting money, no matter the source, has its consequences.
We now know the organ grinder for whom the monkey dances…

    1. By this large donation Mr. Soros is demonstrating his continued commitment of the destruction of America, secondly by accepting this large sum of money we see the democrat party’s willingness to go along with these plans. With President Trumps recent pronouncement of ANTIFA being labeled a terrorist organization Soros is in a battle to keep the gains that he has made over the past few years. He has to flip congress so that the impeachments will stop Trump. California is in the forefront for what type of country America will be in the future. Not much pressure riding on this election

  9. Soros has dual citizenship, US and Hungary. Look at the judges intent on blocking trump’s agenda and see how many are foreign born. Then politicians like mamdani, ilhan omar and scores of others. There should be no such thing as dual citizenship because that has competing loyalty. Maybe the trump administration’s new move on tracking down the funding of organized domestic terrorism might the downfall of soros and his financial empire. Soros, just another rich man funding the demise of american democracy.

    1. Maybe even naturalized citizens should not be allowed to hold political office or serve in the judiciary? As an example, Mexico’s Constitution and related laws limit the political rights of naturalized citizens, including the right to vote in certain elections and to hold public office, which extends to the judiciary.

      1. I have thought for a long time that no one should have any part of any legislative, executive or judicial functions in any level of local, county, state or federal government unless both parents were born in the united states, naturalization need not apply. That would cut out a lot of problems.

          1. Raymond, No one from outside my house makes the the house rules, and that goes in your house too. And, scurrilous slurs have been rendered meaningless due to great overuse over the last 50 years. They’ve been worn out.

          2. “No one from outside my house makes the the house rules, and that goes in your house too.”

@Milton. You are making a false and simplistic comparison. Neither my house nor your house is being run as a Republic of 50 states….Our own houses, yours and mine, might be a Democracy or Dictatorship depending….. If you are advocating Nativism, it’s been advocated many times in the past and rejected for a number of reasons. Do some research.

          3. Raymond, I don’t care what you think, I’ve seen enough. Who do I believe, you or my eyes? No attempt to lable or shame me will work, the days of shouting down people and calling them names are over. As the days of unproductive message board flame wars are also over, this is my last response.

  10. Soros the crypt keeper!
Literally putting his money where his mouth is.
    To fundamentally change America!
This is not a good thing! I see it as an evil act.
It quite literally is a scheme. They used the Texas redistricting as an excuse to override the will of the people of this state! That is evil. The democrats had a plan to move quickly and here we are!
Vote no on Prop 50 if you believe in our Republic.
Pray this scheme is thwarted. Prayer never hurts, it can only help.

  11. The other headline is what will sink Soros; not the redistricting story. Giving $80 million to pro-terror groups will lead to RICO charges IF the funding can be proven.

  12. As long as demo-rats control elections, they will pass whatever that want to pass with the support of the drop boxes and vote-by-mail illegal and dead voters.
