Poor Gavin Newsom. Who knew he grew up poor, had to hustle to stay alive, resorting to Wonder Bread and Mac-n-Cheese for meals, according to his latest guest appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast?
Most poor families back in the 1970’s and 1980’s ate generic, day-old store-brand bread, discounted canned soup and meats, and government cheese. I knew skinny poor kids.

Notice during the podcast video Newsom slips into some street slang, claiming “It was about payin’ the bills, man.” “Wonder bread and Mac ‘n cheese. That’s how I grew up, bro.” That “it was just like hustlin.” “I raised myself.”
Right. Gavin was a latchkey kid? When Gavin was featured in a “Children of the Rich” article in 1991 at the age of 25, that pretty much put the latchkey kid from the Larchmont Homes tract-housing act to rest… until now, as Newsom longs to be America’s next President.
Gavin Newsom’s father, William Newsom, was the attorney for the billionaire Getty Oil family, and managed their assets. Newsom’s father was an attorney, a judge and a former associate justice on the California Court of Appeals.
Wasn’t everyone’s dad an associate justice on the California Court of Appeals?
But Gavin slept on a couch and ate Wonder Bread and “raised himself.”
And then he opened a winery!
At the age of 25, Newsom “and investors” created PlumpJack Associates L.P. in 1991 with the financial help of Gordon Getty.
In a 2003 article, “Bringing Up Baby Gavin,” the story says Newsom’s father William was a judge and helped Gordon Getty get access to the Getty family money. I’ve read the article several times over the years since but it is no longer available at SF Weekly. Maze found an archived version and posted it to X.
“He even helped Gordon Getty sue his own father to get access to the family trust. In return for these favors and many others, Gordon Getty put him in charge of managing a massive amount of money. Guess how Gavin got the funds to start his fancy businesses at such a young age. In 10 of Gavin’s first 11 businesses, the primary money came from the Getty family.”
But Gavin subsisted on Wonder Bread and Mac-n-Cheese and “hustlin.”

Newsom says it, but did nothing about it – as Governor of California, one of the most egregious states violating female’s Title IX rights in women’s sports.

Voyage back to the houses Gavin Newsom and the “First Partner” Jennifer Siebel Newsom enjoyed after he was elected governor in 2019, when they rejected the newly-remodeled Governor’s Mansion. As the Globe reported in June:

Reports reveal that Newsom acquired the home through MHBD Farms, LLC, an entity formed just two days before the transaction, a spokesperson told the San Francisco Chronicle, “The family continues to split their time between Sacramento and Marin counties.” According to the Daily Mail, the governor plans to keep his $3.7 million Sacramento residence too, Yahoo Finance reported.

I did some digging into the entity that purchased the home, and the home was purchased by MHBD Farms LLC on 11/14.
That’s one of the entities used by Gavin Newsom that’s named after his kids. He tried covering that up because the entity was created on 11/12/24 via a registered agent.
Why did Gavin Newsom pop up a new entity 2 days before he purchased a $9.1 million home? Gavin’s kids are named Montana, Hunter, Brooklynn, and Dutch, hence the LLC being named MHBD.
The home was previously owned by Zuloo properties, which is owned by Daniel Pritzker of the Pritzker family.
It is worth noting the Pritzker family were Gavin Newsom’s first donors when he began his political career.
As Jennifer Van Laar reported in 2020, Newsom had “chronically delinquent property taxes in both Marin and Sacramento counties: Newsom’s delinquent on more than $20,000 in property taxes for his Kentfield estate (which was last listed for $5.9 million) according to the Marin County Department of Finance’s website.”
About that $3.7 million Sacramento residence the Newsom’s still “own:”
Since the Newsoms didn’t buy their 12,000-square-foot $3.7 million Fair Oaks, Sacramento home, they probably have a little left over from the $5.9 million sale of their Marin home, the Globe reported… except according to Van Laar, that home was mortgaged to the hilt. And, Newsom’s financial disclosure forms don’t mention the LLC or the gifts, which far exceed the $500 gift limit…
The Newsoms will retain the six-bedroom Fair Oaks home of $3.7 million, where he will spend several nights a week with his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, news.meaww.com reported.
Remember, this was the governor who locked down California’s pre-school, elementary, middle school, high school and college students during the Covid flu, while his children continued attending Sacramento’s very fine Country Day private school… while he and the First Partner attended chi-chi diners in Napa, vacationed in Cabo San Lucas and Costa Rica, and traveled to Montana to visit the First Partner’s family.
This is the California Governor who believes he is entitled to the United States Presidency, but he’s just another privileged San Francisco Bay Area elite “who inherited a California paradise and turned it into purgatory,” says Victor Davis Hanson.

As each of us reads the various “reveals” about Newsom, and he tries to paint a picture of himself for audiences outside California, we realize he has no core and no beliefs, and most of his story is a lie. He is incapable of telling the truth. He was a rich kid, who grew up with the ultimate white privilege- the opposite of what Democrats love. Of course the same is true for Pritzker, AOC, and Mamdani. We can stop him by defeating Prop 50.
The strategy of attacking President Trump may give a sugar high to hardcore Democrats, but it falls flat for the rest of the country.
When I heard him mention Wonder Bread I knew he was a special kind of “poor.” We were by no means poor, but my mother refused to “splurge” on Wonder Bread. I still remember looking forward to going to a (upper middle class) friend’s house in the early 70’s and eating tuna sandwiches on Wonder Bread. It was manna from heaven! The only hustlin Gavin has ever done is selling his lies to to information voters.
Lost in Space – That brings back memories. Wonder Bread was a treat and we got it from the one day old rack.
