SacBee ‘Delusional’ on President Trump’s Speech

The mostly irrelevant Sacramento Bee weighed in on President Donald Trump’s 19-minute speech Wednesday evening, claiming they talked to California “leaders” who say the President is “totally delusional.”

“California political leaders reacted with a mix of disbelief and outrage after President Donald Trump said Wednesday the U.S. had scored ‘decisive, overwhelming victories’ in the month-old war with Iran in his first speech since the U.S. and Israel began their strikes on Feb. 28. Trump claimed his administration had ‘absolutely destroyed’ Iran’s defenses and ‘crippled’ its ability to build nuclear weapons. He downplayed the economic disturbances caused by the war as temporary,” the Bee reported.

Here is what President Trump actually said:

“As we speak this evening, it has been just one month since the United States military began Operation Epic Fury targeting the world’s number one state sponsor of terror, Iran. In these past four weeks, our Armed Forces have delivered swift, decisive, overwhelming victories on the battlefield — victories like few people have ever seen before. Tonight, Iran’s navy is GONE. Their air force is in ruins. Their leaders, most of them — the terrorist regime they led — are now dead. Their command and control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Core is being decimated as we speak. Their ability to launch missiles and drones is dramatically curtailed and their weapons, factories, and rocket launchers are being blown to pieces — very few of them left. Never in the history of warfare has an enemy suffered such clear and devastating large-scale losses in a matter of weeks.”

It has been just one month since the United States military began Operation Epic Fury targeting Iran, the world’s number one state sponsor of terror. One month. 4 weeks. 30 days.

The Bee continued: “By the end of his 20-minute address, the price of oil had risen to $104 a barrel as Iran continues to block the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world’s gas and oil reserves flow, though Trump dismissed that, saying ‘America has plenty of gas. We have so much gas.’”

President Trump is right. We have so much gas in the United States, even though the Biden administration cut production and suspended oil leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska in 2021. In addition to authorizing the Sable Offshore Corp. to restart the Santa Ynez Pipeline System off the Santa Barbara coast, the Trump Administration rolled back the severe restrictions on oil and gas drilling in Alaska imposed by the Biden administration, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced in 2025.

Back to President Trump’s speech Wednesday evening:

“From the very first day I announced my campaign for President in 2015, I have vowed that I would never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon. This fanatical regime has been chanting ‘Death to America, ‘Death to Israel,’ for 47 years. Their proxies were behind the murder of 241 Americans in the Marine Barracks bombing in Beirut, the slaughter of hundreds of our servicemembers with roadside bombs, they were involved in the attack on the U.S.S. Cole, and they’ve carried out countless other heinous acts… For these terrorists to have nuclear weapons would be an intolerable threat. The most violent and thuggish regime on earth would be free to carry out their campaigns of terror, coercion, conquest, and mass murder from behind a nuclear shield. I will never let that happen.”

From the Bee’s report:

“California Democrats seized upon the economic and human impacts of the war, which has claimed the lives of at least 13 American troops and caused a fracture within the Republican Party between Make America Great Again isolationists and GOP war hawks,” the Bee claims.

Are they talking about “the economic and human impacts” of the 30 days of “war?”

Perhaps even more irrelevant than the Sacramento Bee, Former Vice President Kamala Harris said in a pre-recorded video: “He brought America into a war the people do not want.  He has put American troops in harm’s way. Costs are rising by the day, and meanwhile he has done nothing to address the needs of the people of America.”

Oh. Really? What is Kamala Harris talking about? President Trump signed an executive order to end the use of paper straws… and he:

• removed more than 2.6 million illegal aliens from the United States through deportations and voluntary self-departures
• Achieved negative net migration in 2025
• Cut fentanyl trafficking at the southern border by 56%
• Oversaw the largest increase in blue-collar wage growth in nearly 60 years.
• Increased private-sector real earnings by $1,100 annually — earning back some of the $2,900 in purchasing power workers lost under Biden.
• Delivered on his No Tax on Tips campaign promise.
• Delivered on his No Tax on Overtime campaign promise.
• Delivered on his No Tax on Social Security campaign promise for our great seniors.

U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla covered all bases as he “warned the consequences would be far-reaching, even if Trump successfully ended the conflict.”

The consequences of neutering the world’s number one state sponsor of terror? What consequences is Sen. Alex Padilla talking about?

Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Long Beach, said on X: “’The strongest economy in history’ Trump said tonight. Totally delusional.”

The Bee and Democrats ignored that Trump first attempted diplomacy:

“My first preference was always the path of diplomacy — yet, the regime continued their relentless quest for nuclear weapons and rejected every attempt at an agreement. For this reason, in June, I ordered a strike on Iran’s key nuclear facilities in Operation Midnight Hammer… The regime then sought to rebuild their nuclear program at a totally different location, making clear they had no intention of abandoning their pursuit of nuclear weapons… For years, everyone has said that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons — but in the end, those are just words if you’re not willing to take action when the time comes.”

“The only thing worse than taking us into another Middle East war is telling us nothing about how to end it,” said Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Fremont.

“…telling us nothing about how to end it?” If President Trump “tells us how to end it,” he’s also telling Iran how he will end it – no military plan is ever exposed to the enemy… except by former President Barack Obama when he told the world how and when the U.S. would pull out of Iraq.

“Despite a relentless campaign by the Fake News and the Radical Left to manufacture tales of ‘division’ to distract from this historic triumph, it is clear the American people — and President Trump’s base — stand firmly behind our warriors and their Commander-in-Chief as we accomplish the mission.”

Here’s what several legacy media outlets said about the war with Iran:

• The Washington Post: A plurality of Americans back U.S. action against Iran — with approval rising as victories mount.
• Rasmussen Reports: 61% say Operation Epic Fury has been successful so far.
• Fox News: More than six-in-ten Americans view the Iranian regime as a real national security threat.
• NBC News: 90% of MAGA Republicans — and nearly 80% of Republicans overall — back the operation.
• CNN: 88% of MAGA Republicans — and 77% of Republicans overall — approve of the strikes crushing the Iranian regime.

That’s hardly a “fracture” within the Republican Party on the Iran war. .

The Sacramento Bee is good at one thing – feeding pabulum to low information voters.
